Capítulo 1742: -1723- [ Asada Shinon ]

Afterward, Rozen's actions in the Marion Canyon naturally spread like wildfire.

Online, a new entry was added to the record of the latest updates regarding Rozen:

"On December 11, 2025, a total of 117 GGO players ambushed the 'Magus' Rozen on his way back to the World Capital in the so-called Deathlands of Marion Canyon, south of Glocken City. The result was a massacre: 76 players were killed, and 41 fled in disarray. Among the dead were top players from the 2nd BoB Tournament, ranked 18th, 19th, 24th, and 27th. Among the survivors were the 13th and 22nd-ranked players from the previous BoB Tournament. Over half of the group consisted of first-rate professional players, yet they were utterly defeated."

As this news spread online, everyone was genuinely shocked—players from other VRMMOs included, as well as those from ALfheim Online (ALO).

"Even with that many experts, they lost so badly?"

"This has to be a joke."

"No matter how strong the Magus is, one against a hundred is just too ridiculous."

"And many of them were first-rate pros, not to mention several top-ranking players from the BoB."

"This can't be real."

"There's no way a player could be this strong."

Such discussions erupted across the internet, leaving many unable to believe the news.

Even GGO players reacted similarly.

"Impossible!"

"Yeah, there's no way!"

"Let's be honest, the Deathlands are lethal. Even a group of rookies could turn top players into swiss cheese there. How could someone possibly take down so many experts?"

"This must be fake news."

"I refuse to believe it."

However, the truth of the event was undeniable.

As participants in the ambush came forward to recount the ordeal, everything was confirmed. Players were left speechless.

In the end, no matter which game's community you turned to, only one standardized comment remained:

"Monster!"

"He's a total monster!"

"As expected of the man who cleared the Death Game!"

"This is insane! Now I'm looking forward to the third BoB Tournament!"

"Same here!"

"Me too!"

Even GGO players could no longer muster any hostility. At the very least, none dared question Rozen's strength anymore.

Especially those who had the misfortune of losing their prized weapons to Rozen in the fight—they even took to the internet to plead their case.

"Please, Magus Rozen, return my beloved gun!"

"I'm willing to pay the market price to buy it back!"

"Me too!"

"I promise never to question your strength again! Just show mercy!"

"Does anyone know how to contact the Magus Rozen?"

"Please share!"

"Same here!"

One after another, players posted such appeals. For many, although it was embarrassing, it was just a game.

Resentment couldn't run too deep. Moreover, the need for strong weapons to continue hunting—and earning money—forced them to swallow their pride.

The online buzz grew louder. People discussed the event passionately, no longer doubting Rozen's prowess. They praised him as a true gaming master, someone who could thrive in any VRMMO.

This gave ALO players a sense of pride, especially members of Crimson Wing. They were bursting with confidence online, bragging endlessly:

"This is just the beginning."

"The best is yet to come!"

"Our guild leader was even more incredible back in SAO and ALO."

"This doesn't even scratch the surface!"

Some extreme players even went overboard, claiming GGO was now Rozen's domain, that its veteran players might as well go home. Remarks like, "Those top-ranking players? Just overrated amateurs," flooded forums, leaving GGO players too embarrassed to respond.

In this atmosphere...

"How infuriating..."

A girl in a high school uniform, wearing a scarf and glasses, stepped out of a school gate. Her short hair was styled with two small tufts on either side, giving her the appearance of a malnourished kitten. She stared at her phone, her expression filled with displeasure as she read the online buzz.

Her mood soured further upon seeing the line:

"Among the survivors were the 13th and 22nd-ranked players from the previous BoB Tournament."

"Who ran away?!" she muttered angrily. "The one who ran was that guy!"

This girl was none other than Shinon, the renowned sniper of GGO.

But in real life, her name was Asada Shinon.

As mentioned earlier, in reality, Shinon was just an ordinary high school student, and a rather unremarkable one at that.

Although her looks weren't plain, her real-life demeanor lacked the cold and sharp edge of her GGO persona. She wasn't cold or intimidating but rather invisible, with no friends to speak of—a truly solitary girl.

No, that wasn't entirely accurate.

Shinon might have been introverted, but she did have one friend.

"Asada-san."

A gentle voice called out to her from ahead, causing her to look up in slight surprise.

Standing outside the school gate was a slender boy waving at her.

He wore jeans and a nylon jacket, with a black baseball cap on his head and a cheerful expression on his round face.

"Shinkawa-kun?"

Seeing him, Shinon called out in mild disbelief.

This boy was none other than Shinkawa Kyouji—her only friend in the city.

"What are you doing here?"

Shinon quickly approached him.

Her reaction was understandable.

Given Shinkawa Kyouji's unique circumstances, though he was her friend, it had been a long time since he had appeared around school.

Still, his attitude toward her remained as warm as ever.

"I came to check on you," Shinkawa Kyouji said without hiding his purpose. He looked at her with probing eyes. "Are you okay?"

At this, Shinon quickly pieced together why he had come.

It was simple.

"I saw the news online. It seems you lost to the Magus, didn't you?"

Shinkawa Kyouji's concern was evident.
