Capítulo 877: -866- Not a hero

Rozen had never heard that Servants could lose their memories from their past lives. Of course, that was just because Rozen hadn't encountered such a case.

In reality, there were various reasons that could lead to Servants losing their memories. Mistakes during the summoning process, entering a particularly unique magical realm, being subjected to memory-erasing magic, or being affected by Noble Phantasms designed to erase memories – all these scenarios were possible.

So, even if someone deliberately erased Medea's memories of her past life, leaving only the infatuation with Jason intact while wiping out the rest, it wouldn't be an unusual occurrence.

In fact, that was Rozen's initial speculation.

Seeing Medea's devoted attitude towards Jason, Rozen had thought she might have had her memories intentionally erased, leading to her current state.

In other words, just like in her past life, where she assisted in building a kingdom and gained a throne, Jason intended to use Medea's affection for him to make her unquestioningly obedient.

However, erasing the memories of a powerful mage like Medea wasn't a simple task. Rozen doubted that someone as naive as Jason could accomplish such a thing unless he possessed a wish-granting device like the Holy Grail.

And if Medea hadn't had her memories erased, knowing full well about Jason's future betrayal and abandonment, how could she willingly serve him without complaint?

This was an inherently contradictory situation.

Or perhaps, even if betrayed, the present Medea simply didn't care?

This was also a possibility.

Taking Rama as an example, the King of Kosala was forced to be ruthless towards Sita in adulthood due to the throne and public opinion, but in his youth, his mental state only showed unwavering love for Sita. Regrets and considerations only surfaced in his adulthood.

In the same vein, Medea might have displayed unwavering affection for Jason during her youth, and even if she knew she would be betrayed later on, her mature self might continue to follow him without regrets. It was a plausible scenario.

But...

"Isn't this completely unworthy?"

Rozen expressed his view on the matter with this sentence.

Indeed.

Not worthy.

Jason truly wasn't worth Medea going to such lengths.

Atalanta had even said to Jason, "You are useless aside from handling the ship and indulging in fantasies."

This was the best portrayal of Jason.

If there's any other positive aspect to Jason besides his appearance, it's simply being handsome. Could Medea really be willing to sacrifice so much for that reason alone?

"This is simply absurd. Even now, while you're still bound by the curse of the gods, do you harbor misguided affection for him?" Rozen questioned Medea, staring directly at her with his perplexity.

In response to Rozen's doubts, Medea revealed an exceedingly complex expression.

"Perhaps the future me might turn into that, but that's definitely not who I am now," she said with a complex expression, surprising Rozen.

"Because I was summoned at the time just after completing my training in my master's temple and before encountering Lord Jason," Medea disclosed this secret.

"What did you say?" Rozen was genuinely astonished.

So, Medea was summoned at the period just after completing her training in the temple, before encountering Jason?

Did that mean the current Medea hadn't met Jason yet and hadn't been cursed by the gods?

Was she truly the pure, untainted princess at that time, only a young witch who believed in the bonds between people to avoid shaming her mentor, the goddess Hecate, and her teacher, the witch Circe?

For Rozen, if this was the case, it became even more bizarre that the present Medea would be so devoted to Jason. He couldn't help but express his thoughts, "There's even less reason for you to be so devoted to Jason, right?"

Rozen was utterly perplexed.

This version of Rozen never anticipated...

"Is this also related to the memories you mentioned earlier?" Medea whispered.

"Even though I haven't met the person, I know I will have affection for him."

"Even though I haven't fallen in love yet, I know he will betray me in the future."

"Even though I just want to avoid shaming my mentor and teacher, and I'm enthusiastically preparing to use my learned magic for the benefit of the people, I know I will cruelly kill my brother afterward and become a witch who betrays her homeland."

"These memories are so unbelievable and yet so helpless for me now," Medea sighed, leaving Rozen at a loss for words.

Because the princess in front of him was not devoted to Jason out of servitude but rather felt helpless and lamented about her future destiny.

However...

"This Lord Jason, who made me into that person, is actually quite simple-minded," Medea looked at Rozen.

"Lord Jason just wants to create an ideal country ruled by his great self, bringing happiness to all the people."

Even incapable princes, despite their inadequacies, still hold wishes to bring happiness to their people.

It's just that, compared to such wishes, Jason's abilities are lacking.

"So, Lord Jason tries to gather heroes and use their power to achieve his great goals. It's all to realize his wish," Medea spoke sincerely.

"I don't love him, and I don't hate him. I just want to observe him, sympathize with him," Medea finally voiced her true feelings.

"Berserker is probably the same. That's why, whether in life or in death as part of the Argonauts, he responds to Lord Jason's orders?"

Perhaps, this is the essence of Jason and the reason he can recruit so many heroes to obey him.

"Please be more forgiving of him."

Medea earnestly requested.

"He's just an ordinary person struggling because of insufficient power, not a hero."
