Capítulo 78: It Is Simply Ironic

Amelia appeared unchanged on the surface, speaking and smiling throughout the entire dinner, creating a relaxed atmosphere. However, there was an indescribable sadness spreading within her.

That image flashed in her mind. She walked out carrying the orange and heard Aria's words, "But, what if Amelia finds out..." Coupled with Ethan and Adrian's nervous expressions, there must be something they were hiding from her. She could tell.

Could it be related to this house? They came here today specifically to see this house. Aria is straightforward. If it had nothing to do with the house, she would have mentioned it earlier.

Whatever it was, no one would speak if asked directly. It would be better to investigate slowly. Aria would surely reveal something later on.

...

The Harper Villa.

Preparing the wedding gift while watching her daughter, Delilah felt emotionally unsettled.

"Bel, the wedding is tomorrow. After tomorrow, you will officially become the Steele family's lawful daughter-in-law."

Bella nodded without joy or anger. The wedding was a solemn occasion, but for her, she felt like an outsider, devoid of any emotions. The recent setbacks had almost numbed her.

"If he dares to mistreat you after you're married, come back home. This place will always be your home."

"Thank you, Mom."

Her voice was faint as she looked down at the wedding dress she was trying on. She had no interest in any style.

The imagined wedding she had hoped for would never happen. It could only exist in dreams—what difference did it make who she married or what she wore?

...

The next day.

Bella woke up early and went through the makeup and styling session with the hairdresser. The exquisite wedding gown matched with the meticulously designed hairstyle, making her look exceptionally beautiful. However, her complexion appeared tired and pale.

The whole day was filled with liveliness—blessings and congratulations from relatives and friends, everything at the wedding banquet. But Bella felt an even deeper sense of solitude in her heart. It seemed that nothing from this wedding could reach her innermost self. She only went through the motions.

Finally, in the evening, she sat alone in a quiet room, waiting for Andrew to return.

As she looked at the room that would be her bedroom from now on, it appeared luxurious and far superior to her previous room. Yet, she knew deep down that it was nothing more than her jail. The larger the room, the lonelier she would feel.

Jail? Even if she lived alone, it would still be better than being with him.

Footsteps approached the door, and she tightly clenched her fingers, feeling nervous and worried.

If Andrew dared to hit her, she wouldn't tolerate it. She wouldn't let him get away with it.

After half an hour, Andrew entered the room, clearly having consumed a lot of alcohol as he stumbled a bit while walking. Bella finally breathed a sigh of relief. This state of Andrew wouldn't pose a threat to her.

He stood in front of her, carefully examining her for a while, then closed his eyes and shook his head. It was a motion reminiscent of when hallucinations would occur.

Bella remained silent, raising her head to glance at him before turning her gaze elsewhere.

Andrew watched her, slowly approaching her, extending his hand to lift her chin. His eyes stared at her intensely, and a faint smile appeared on his face.

Bella felt strange. Could it be that Andrew really liked her?

"You look beautiful."

Upon hearing this, Bella's heart tightened. This man in front of her was indeed Andrew, the rough Andrew?

Thinking about the scenes from that day, she felt a bit scared and nervous. She lifted her head and looked carefully at Andrew.

Andrew looked at her and slowly placed his hand on her shoulder. He gently laid her down and eagerly pounced on her.

Bella stared at him, then turned her head away, unwilling in her heart.

Andrew gently caressed her cheek, quickly getting into the mood. His deep kiss was possessive. Despite resisting a few times, Bella eventually gave up.

"Lydia, you are truly beautiful," he said, burying his head and passionately claiming her.

Tears rolled down Bella's cheeks as she silently smirked.

Lydia? Unexpectedly, this man still regarded her as a substitute.

Was it pitiful or laughable? It was simply too ironic.

The night was long. Looking at Andrew sleeping beside her, she sat up with a pale and unpleasant expression. Her eyes gleamed with cold fierceness. She hated not cutting this sleeping man into pieces.

Killing him would be too easy for him. One day, she would trample him underfoot and make him realize what it means to prefer death over life.

And Sophia, Ethan, you all wait. None of you will be spared.

The next day.

Andrew woke up and looked at Bella who was sleeping next to him. Trying to recall what happened last night, he found himself with a splitting headache and couldn't remember.

He got up, tidied himself, changed his clothes, and walked to the bed. Looking at Bella, he said with a harsh tone, "Still pretending to sleep, huh?" After uttering those words, he walked out of the bedroom.

Anger appeared on Bella's face. Last night he was gentle and caring, addressing her as Lydia. But today, he assumed this expression towards her. This was who he truly was.

However, it didn't matter. Since she had decided to marry him, she was prepared for it. She would treat his unpleasant words as if she hadn't heard them.

Although she tried to console herself like this, she still felt sad in her heart. Clenching the corner of the blanket tightly, she could only endure it.

...

"Are you full?"

"Yes, I'll go wash my hands and then head to work."

Ethan cleared the plates while Amelia ran upstairs to get ready for work.

When she reached the bottom of the stairs, Amelia looked up at her residence, the thirteenth floor, feeling an inexplicable sentiment. Although she liked this place and felt it suited her well, there was a sense of mystery about it. She couldn't figure out why Ethan chose such a house.

Though it wasn't unusual for him to own multiple houses, most of them were villas. There must be a reason for choosing this particular place.

"Let's go."

Upon arriving at the company, she continued with her usual busy routine. The unexpected visitor didn't disturb her today, which left her both surprised and happy.

After finishing work, she glanced at Rosetta's office and found it strangely locked.

While hesitating, her phone suddenly rang, displaying Ethan's call.

"Hello, I won't accompany you back today. There are some things I need to take care of. Let Mike drive you to Chinchol Manor for dinner, and he will bring you back home then."

"Oh, I see."

Ending the call, Amelia saw Mike walking towards her. They made eye contact, and Mike greeted her happily.

"Ms. Sophia, work's over. I'll take you."

Amelia nodded. She had no other choice. It was better than taking a taxi back and she could also go to Chinchol Manor for food beforehand.

"Alright, thank you, Mike," Amelia said politely, nodding slightly.

"Anything Mr. Frost assigned is my responsibility. Let's go."

Today, going back with Mike made Amelia feel somewhat uncomfortable.
