Capítulo 15: Chapter 15

"Today, you will be learning about poisons and antidotes." Snape said and let the silence settle in before continuing, "Submit all your essays, now."

Alex looked at everyone, who seemed to be busy taking out their parchments. He raised his hand up and unlike how he ignored a certain bushy haired girl, Shape's gaze landed on Alex.

"What is it, Jordan?"

"Um.. sir, I was bedridden in the Hospital wards for almost a week and was discharged this morning."

"Answer my question and I will let it go."

"Alright, professor."

"Hmm… tell me. What is the potion that scares you the most?"

"A potion that scares me the most… I wonder which… yeah. The love potion, professor. I don't like the concept of being forced to fall in love."

Snape simply nodded and turned towards the board, "Ten points from Ravenclaw."

Alex simply shrugged while his housemates seemed to be furious beyond their limits but all they could do was glare at snape while the latter revelled in their misery.

'… I guess Gryffindor does need some credit for being brave.'

The class went as usual but this time, Alex gave Snape all his attention and even put in the effort to ask him questions that seemed to be too complex for his classmates.

"Stay back after class, Jordan. Oh, and do shut your mouth until then."

"Yes, professor."

Alex had a really bad feeling after that and he couldn't point out the reason why, so he simply waited for the class to be done.

The whole two hours, their brains were being stuffed with theory and the only thing that they were shown was an ingredient that could cure most poisons, the bezoar.

Everyone packed their bags and left after everything was done while Alex stayed back.

Snape stood still as he looked at Alex and the atmosphere remained the same for a few seconds before Snape moved a few steps forward.

"Follow me to my chamber, Jordan."

"Yes, professor." Said Alex but nervousness welled up in his heart as he did not know what the man in front of him was thinking. He knew a lot of spells but none of them were suited for self-defence or offence.

He still went with Snape as he was sure that nothing too bad would happen as he was still at Hogwarts. They reached the chambers quickly as it was very close to their classroom and walked inside.

Snape then walked over to a large bookshelf and pulled out a bunch of books that seemed to be extremely worn out and placed them on his desk before he continued to pile up more books.

After three huge towers of books were formed, he began placing some jars filled with weird organs, hair, teeth, fur and a lot more things. Some of which even Alex couldn't identify.

The whole process took Snape about twenty minutes as Alex watched him fill his desk with all sorts of items and books.

After confirming that everything was done, Snape turned around and saw the kid staring at him.

"Jordan, I would hope that in the future, you don't ask me questions in the middle of my class. It doesn't benefit any of your classmates right now and I am sure that they will not remember anything about your questions.

You are a smart kid with a promising potential so, I will give you all of this. Return the books back to me when you graduate from here and use the ingredients well. Potions isn't all theory mister Jordan. You have to practice and do a lot of trial and error if you want to be an elite potion master.

I hope you don't disappoint me."

"..." Alex simply stood still as Snape's words moved him a lot. He knew that Snape wasn't someone who would help just anyone for a simple reason such as talent or potential.

He didn't understand how things developed into his current situation but he gladly accepted what he got and quickly make up his mind to do something he might regret but he chose to take the gamble.

"Thank you, professor. I… have something to uh clarify with you."

"What is it?" Snape asked, curiosity shining on his face.

"Professor… could you tell me what I would get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?"

Snape squinted his eyes as he stared into his student's dark black eyes, only to stumble upon an impregnable defence that shielded his mind.

"I thought someone like you would already know the answer, Jordan. It's the draught of the living dead, one of the most powerful sleeping potions."

"Yes professor, I know that. I just wondered why you asked a first year student a question that only a third year or older student would know."

"What are you trying to say, Jordan? Do not beat around the bush. I do not have the time for this and also, how did you know that I asked this question when you weren't even in the class?"

"People don't really shut their mouths in the great hall…. Anyways, when I heard it and found out that the question was directed at Harry, I instantly knew the hidden meaning lying in that question.

Asphodel is a type of lily and it means "My regrets follow you to the grave" and wormwood means absence. If we combine both of them…. Doesn't it mean, I bitterly regret Lily's death? In this case… Lily Potter's death."

Snape stared at Alex with such intensity that the latter felt like he was going to kill him but after a few seconds, he saw shame slightly shake his head before sighing loudly.

"Take all these things with you and don't tell Potter about any of this. I changed my mind, you are not allowed to come back here so take how much you can right now."

Snape looked angry but seemed relieved at the same time.

"Thank you for the help and support, professor." He said and took out his wand before doing a few movements with it and made everything small.
