Capítulo 143: Working with Kiwi
"Huh, isn't this the same place that Regina lives at?" I muttered as I parked my car in front of the apartment building that was right next door to Lizzie's Bar as well.
Yaiba Tower was its name and I was here to invite Kiwi to the crew, she already got notified by Maine about the invite and I was here to meet up and bring her with me on a gig to see how well she meshes with us before any big gigs with all of us involved.
So I went inside and went up to the 8th floor where her apartment was before I came up to her door.
As soon as I did my holo rang and I answered, "Doors open, I'll be out in a few." She said while her holo showed she was in her ice bath to keep herself cool during deep net running.
So I went in and locked it before looking around at her rather minimalist type of apartment and taking a seat on the couch while I waited.
A few minutes later I heard the door slide open as I saw a completely nude, tall woman with short bob cut hair with blue colored nipples and blue pubic hair along with a spiderweb motif like tattoo on her body, she had cybernetic mask over her mouth and nose, her eyes had pinkish red irises with yellow sclera while the eyes looked more feline like.
I looked at her and she just looked at me for a solid minute, "Not that I mind you standing around nude but I'd rather you not get sick when we're about to do a gig."
"Heh, was more wondering what type of person I was going to work with, seems now I know." She says in a rather neutral almost monotone like voice as she strutted past me before grabbing her clothes and putting them on.
"What? Were you expecting me to act like a horny teenager, get a hard on and attack you or some shit? I won't lie that your good looking but I'm not gonna do something like that period." I say waving it off.
"Whatever you say." She says pulling on her red tight jeans.
"What? Worked with someone and tried to do you dirty like that?" I say as she pulls on her shirt and then grabs her long red trench coat, but she looks at me and stays silent with a sharp glint in her eyes.
"…. Sorry for mentioning it then." I say getting off my ass before going over to her, as we stand eye to eye with each other, since she's the same height(6ft) as me.
"Well you have a general idea about me I kinda got an idea about you as well." I say as I open the door as she walks out before closing it behind me.
"Oh? And what do you find me to be?" She says with barely any fluctuation in her voice.
"Hmm, Pragmatic, extremely analytical, show barely any emotion in your speech, you have been burned once or several times in your past." I say as we get into the elevator.
"I didn't take you for a psychoanalysis." She says as I hit the button as we go down.
"I can just read people easily, plus some context clues and how you acted when I mentioned that thing added on top of it all, but your not emotionless just you don't wear your emotions on your sleeves, but because you were burned you trust no one and it takes a long ass time for you to even trust some one again as a result." I say as we get off the elevator and head out to my car as I hop in as she gets in the passenger seat.
"Don't trust anyone in this city, it's the only way I found one can live in this job and in this city is to trust only yourself." She responds back with her personal code as a result.
"While not the worst code I ever heard one to live by, but it's also a quick way for one to die alone in a ditch somewhere with no one to even care for your death." I say but I notice a sharp glint in her eyes as she crossed her arms and legs.
"And what would be the alternative to this lifestyle I live?" She says in her rather default tone but it seemed…. Defensive? I think I was catching onto her nuances better with meeting her in person compared to the show.
"Don't trust anyone in this city, unless you know that person would personally take a bullet for you if it meant saving your life, then you have truly found someone you can trust." I say as we head north towards the Arasaka Dock area of Watson.
"Uhuh, I'll believe it when I see it, now what's the job we are going into again? I need more detes." She said before I sent her the gigs mission over holo.
"Mission comes from the slimey Corpo fixer Faraday, simply put Militech wants us to do some corporate sabotage on the Arasaka docks by crashing the subnet there making it, for a time, impossible for Arasaka to have any important shipments from Japan to know when to come and arrive from what I figured on this gig."
"So jobs Simple we go in, not make a sound if possible, and upload a Daemon to their subnet to fry there system's, and get the hell out of there with none the wiser." I say as we reached our destination as I move the car to a public parking lot.
"But it's best we wait until night fall so we got time to chill out and hang around for now." I say before pulling my seat back and laying down in the car before shutting my eyes to take a nap.
"…. Your oddly trusting of someone you just met you know?" She says as she looks at me strangely while she pulls out a cigarette and begins to smoke with her putting it in one of the holes in her cybernetic face mask.
"Like I said, I got a good read on people, and Kiwi even though we just met, you don't seem the type to pull a gun on me and shoot me for good reason, your the type who weighs the pros and cons for every choice you make, and killing me is all cons with no pros for that choice." I said getting comfortable as I begin to wait.
"So sit back, relax while we wait until nightfall for this gig to begin." I say before closing my eyes to take a nap.
She just looked at me for a minute before shaking her head and continued smoking, 'Strange kid…. But not bad at least….' Is the only real thought in her head as she too began to relax before the Gig began.
