Capítulo 12: 012 Marriage certificate

Lucy Sullivan was somewhat disappointed, she looked down at her body and thought there wasn't much difference.

Feeling restless, Lucy laid down to sleep, but she couldn't fall asleep.

Through the curtain, she could see the bright moon and stars outside, which were not visible in the city in her past life.

Lucy started missing her parents. Now in this world, she had married a man, but she couldn't let her parents meet him; they couldn't even attend her wedding, which made her feel indescribable heartache.

"Ah, since Ms. Williams had read novels and favored Samuel Smithson, I guess she had met him and was satisfied. She should agree to this marriage. Since Mom agreed to this, Dad couldn't disagree. So, this marriage still received their blessings."

Gazing at the starry sky outside the window, Lucy mumbled to herself, staring at the stars and thinking about many random things until she eventually fell asleep in a daze.

Maybe it was because of her worries that Lucy didn't wake up until the sun was already high in the sky the next day.

The dazzling sunlight made her raise her arm to shield her eyes, then she sprang up like a spring and hurriedly got ready.

"Oh no, we're supposed to get our marriage certificate today. How can I wake up so late? Will Samuel be angry?"

Lucy scrambled to make the bed and tidy up herself, then walked out of the room, only to see Samuel squatting in the yard, wiping a bicycle; seemingly in a good mood, he was humming a slightly off-tune tune.

Seeing Samuel like this, Lucy breathed a sigh of relief, figuring he wasn't angry because she overslept.

"Samuel, I am sorry, I overslept." Lucy was embarrassed and scratched her head, her voice full of apology.

It was only then that Samuel noticed Lucy had woken up. He quickly hid the smile on his lips, "It's okay, I made you some boiled eggs. Have some breakfast first. I borrowed a bicycle from the captain, and we'll get there quickly. No need to worry."

This was the first time Samuel spoke so many words to Lucy, and she felt a little joyful, "Won't you eat?"

Samuel shook his head, "I've already eaten." He continued to wipe the bicycle after speaking.

Lucy didn't ask further, she went to the kitchen, ate two boiled eggs and half a piece of steamed cornbread, which comfortably filled her stomach.

There was no mirror in Samuel's house, so she scooped up a basin of water and checked her appearance in the water before leaving.

Samuel had also prepared everything and mounted the bicycle when Lucy came out.

Lucy consciously sat in the back seat, carefully clutching Samuel's clothes.

The marriage certificate had to be obtained in the town.

Samuel rode the bicycle with Lucy into the town, and Lucy was curious about everything. It was her first time in the town, although her previous self had been there before, it was only in her memory, and she had never been there in person.

However, she remembered that they were here to take care of important matters today, so she tried her best to restrain her curiosity.

The two of them went to a photo studio to take a wedding photo.

Lucy had seen wedding photos of this era before, featuring military green outfits and classic braids. In response to the trends of the time, that's how she was dressed today.

The photographer didn't give directions like in modern times, but simply took the photo as soon as the couple sat down. After a flash of light, the photo was done, waiting to be picked up in a few days.

Then the couple headed to the office. Lucy wasn't familiar with the marriage process at that time, so she followed Samuel and did whatever he told her.

It was at this moment that she realized Samuel had even prepared the village's certification, which she didn't know was needed.

Lucy completed her marriage application form, and after a short wait, she received her stamped marriage certificate.

The certificate was red on the outside, with the character "happiness" surrounding the edges and two peonies in the center. The rest was the couple's information and the wedding date.

Lucy held the marriage certificate like a certificate of honor handed out by a teacher, and unintentionally straightened her back.

Samuel found it amusing and took the certificate from Lucy; he was afraid she would no longer be able to walk if they continued like this.

"Samuel, let's go home, and I'll cook you a big meal today!"

"No rush, let's go to one more place." Samuel said as he took Lucy's hand. His expression seemed natural, but the tips of his ears were already turning red.
