3.First meeting
[Los Angeles]
We see Kai getting out of a taxi in front of the house [Image].
He enters and carries his luggage into the living room, then sits on the couch.
Moments later, he gets up and walks towards the fridge without looking inside.
He takes a milk carton and starts drinking.
After a while, he begins to spit everything out.
He screws the cap back on and checks the bottom of the carton.
"Expired... I should have expected that,"
he says. He throws the carton in the trash and heads towards the garage, opens the gate, and gets into a Pontiac.
He starts the engine and drives away.
[15 minutes later...]
Kai parks the car in front of a restaurant [Image].
Above the building, a sign that reads "Toretto's" can be seen.
He enters and takes a seat at the counter.
After a moment, a woman [Image] approaches him and asks, "What can I get you?"
Kai looks at her, smiles, and replies,
"Anything."
Mia nods and turns to a man sitting next to him, asking,
"A tuna sandwich?"
The man nods in confirmation.
Kai gazes at him for a moment and then returns to the food Mia serves him.
In the background, you can hear four cars parking next to the Pontiac in front of the restaurant. Four individuals step out and approach the engine of one of the cars.
'Here we go...'
Kai thinks to himself.
Vince approaches, Brian bids him farewell, pays, and heads towards his car.
Vince follows shortly after.
Moments later, a brawl begins as Mia pleads with Dom to stop them.
During the scuffle, they start pushing themselves towards Kai's car.
Kai stands up and approaches them, coming up behind Brian and pulling him to the ground.
Vince looks at him while Brian struggles to catch his breath on the ground.
After a moment, Dom rushes out of the restaurant, and everyone looks at Kai, who speaks up.
"Leave my car alone,"
Kai says.
He walks past everyone and returns to the restaurant with everyone's gaze on his back
He sits down and starts eating.
Shortly after, Vince rushes towards him, attempting to hit him, but Kai evades the attack and twists Vince's arm behind his back.
He then turns to Dom and says,
"Will someone take care of him?"
Dom approaches and takes Vince away, who continues to resist.
Dom says to him
"You're embarrassing me, Vince."
Dom nods to Kai and walks towards Brian, who slowly gets up from the ground.
He takes Brian wallet from Jesse's, opens it, looks at Brian, and says,
"Brian Earl Spilner... sounds like a serial killer. Is that what you are?
Don't come here again." Dom turns around and approaches Kai.
Brian catches his breath and points his finger at Vince, saying,
"Hey man, you know this is bullshit."
Dom walks up to Brian and asks,
"You work for Harry, right?"
Brian responds, looking at Dom,
"Yeah, I just started."
Dom tells Brian,
"You're fired. Just now."
He turns around and approaches Kai.
"Thanks for helping with Vince,"
Dom says.
Kai looks at Dom and says,
"No problem. I was just concerned about that Spilner fucker damaging my car."
Dom looks at the Pontiac and asks,
"Is that your car?"
Kai nods.
Dom continues,
"Have you ever raced before?"
Kai nods and replies,
"Yeah, but it was a long time ago."
Dom chuckles and asks,
"What's your name?"
Kai responds with a slight smile,
"I think you should introduce yourself first."
Dom extends his hand and says,
"Dominic Toretto, but you can call me Dom. That's my sister Mia, that's Jesse, there's Leon, and that's Letty. You've already met Vince."
Kai says,
"Kai Stewart Nice to meet you, Dom."
Dom hands him a piece of paper with an address.
Kai takes the paper and puts it in his pocket.
Dom nods and says,
"See you tonight."
He goes to the back of the shop.
Kai takes out his wallet, pays for the food, and walks towards his car.
He gets in and drives away.
[10 minutes later]
Dominic Toretto's POV
Dom sits in the workshop next to Jesse and says,
"Jesse, check out this Stewart guy."
Jesse searches something on the computer and says,
"Kai Stewart, 27 years old, degrees in criminology, law, and psychology, spent a few years in the military... special forces, multiple commendations... left yesterday."
Dom raises an eyebrow and asks,
"So he was a soldier, huh?"
