The king hardly ever visited the social event. He would attend the founding ball once a year, but that was all. Ever since the queen left with the princess for the diplomatic mission, the ruler could be only seen during audiences and council meetings.

That's why his sudden appearance caused a heated murmuring among people.

The door to the room opened and king slowly walked down the staircase. The nobles from the royal faction bowed immediately, and those in opposite or neutral stances followed. Arianell also did a perfect curtsey she learned in the class and even nudged Luan into showing some respect.

"There is no need for a ceremony," the king sat on the throne at the platform that was deserted till now. 

"Father… I mean, Your Majesty, what are you doing here?" Asher was puzzled.

"We went around and couldn't hear any music… Is the party not to your liking?"
