Capítulo 58: Falling

Pain radiated from the buttocks and between the legs. Lin Qiong, being restrained, looked at the man with terrified eyes. For a moment, his lips trembled, and he couldn't utter a word.

"You said I could stand up?! You said I could stand up?!"

The veins on the man's neck and forehead bulged, and his hand violently shook Lin Qiong's collar. Then, seemingly remembering something, the terrifying beast-like roar ceased, and a pair of pitch-black eyes stared at Lin Qiong.

Lin Qiong trembled instantly under his gaze.

Fu Xingyun stared at him, "Are you lying to me too?"

Lin Qiong, frightened, shook his head, "Xingyun."

"You're lying to me too." Fu Xingyun's panting intensified, and his voice sounded like a warning from a creature crawling in a dark cave. "All of you are lying to me! None of you wants me to get better; you all just want me to die."

"No..." Lin Qiong tried to pry open Fu Xingyun's hand, but his hand trembled on the floor, seemingly boneless and unable to lift.

"None of you is looking forward to my recovery. You all just want me to die."

Lin Qiong swallowed hard, "Xingyun, can't you stop saying such things? I... I'm scared..."

However, the man, with bloodshot eyes, seemed not to hear any words. His words continued to shake Lin Qiong's heart, "Are you also mocking me? Mocking me for being a cripple, aren't you?!"

"Do you look down on me too?!"

"You're just like them!!!"

Alongside the fear, a sense of injustice and grievance filled Lin Qiong's heart. After hearing this, he gritted his teeth and raised his hand to pry Fu Xingyun's hand. "Fu Xingyun, for heaven's sake, speak with a conscience!"

"What do you mean I'm just like them?!" Lin Qiong's eyes widened in anger. "What did I do wrong to make you say such things about me?!"

Lin Qiong, in turn, became irritated. His breathing became erratic. Unable to separate Fu Xingyun's hand, he instinctively delivered a headbutt to the man.

The man instinctively raised his hand to cover his forehead. Lin Qiong, angry, didn't back down. Instead, he grabbed the man's collar, mimicking the man's previous actions.

It was a case of tables turning.

"You damn bastard!" Lin Qiong pulled the man so forcefully that he almost shattered a few front teeth. "I even had to feed the dogs with the food I cooked earlier!"

Fu Xingyun roared at him, "Get lost!"

Lin Qiong harshly pinched Fu Xingyun's chest. "You tell me to get lost, and I'll get lost. Do you care about my face?!"

Then, to confirm the feel, he pinched again. Oh, wow! It's quite soft.

"Just because you can yell!" Lin Qiong felt more and more aggrieved as he spoke. "I do the laundry and cooking for you every day, even wash your underwear, and you still scold and roar at me!"

"Do you think you're great just because you have money?"

Fu Xingyun was stunned by Lin Qiong's yelling.

Lin Qiong angrily continued, "Yes, you're quite impressive! But damn it, even if you're impressive, what's the use if you don't spend it? In the end, don't you still rely on me?!"

"..."

Seeing Fu Xingyun clenching his fists and glaring at him, Lin Qiong realized something was wrong and quickly stood up. The next moment, the man forcefully swung his fists, smashing them onto the ground.

One after another, the violent sound made Lin Qiong's heart tremble.

The man, trying to stand up and grab him, could only crawl forward, using his upper body to support and drag his paralyzed legs.

Distorted, terrified, and embarrassed, he crawled on the ground like a worm.

Lin Qiong, deeply pained by the scene, finally realized that Fu Xingyun's mental state had deteriorated. Without hesitation, he went forward to embrace the man.

As soon as Lin Qiong approached, Fu Xingyun, like a drowning man grabbing a lifeline, tightly grasped him. "You're all lying to me, you're all lying to me..."

Lin Qiong's heart was in pain for a moment, so he took out his phone and called the family doctor recommended by Ji Yao.

The call was answered.

Lin Qiong: "Doctor!"

Doctor: "Is your family member causing trouble again?"

"... " Lin Qiong: "He's having an episode. Can you come over as soon as possible?"

"What kind of illness?"

Lin Qiong couldn't describe it at the moment, so he could only follow what he read in the book, "Mental illness."

After calling the doctor, Lin Qiong tightly held onto Fu Xingyun, restraining his arms to prevent him from randomly smashing things if he got upset.

When the doctor hurriedly arrived, he saw Lin Qiong struggling to open the door while holding onto Fu Xingyun.

The doctor was momentarily surprised, "This is..."

Lin Qiong: "Deep familial affection."

"..."

The doctor observed Fu Xingyun's condition, then took out a syringe.

Lin Qiong was startled.

Bang! It's quite thick.

He quickly covered Fu Xingyun's eyes, "What are you going to do?!"

Doctor: "First, a sedative injection."

Lin Qiong looked at the person in his arms and felt distressed, "Is there any other way?"

"There are physical methods."

Lin Qiong: "Such as?"

"Knocking him out."

"..." Lin Qiong swallowed hard, "Then the injection is better."

Looking at the thick needle, Lin Qiong spoke up, "Can you be gentle? He's as fragile as seaweed right now."

Doctor: ?

"Very fragile."

"..."

Sure enough, after the injection, the person who was fiercely resisting moments ago instantly calmed down.

Lin Qiong looked at him with a hint of reluctance but, together

with the doctor, managed to bring Fu Xingyun back to the room.

The doctor conducted an examination and then asked, "Has he shown any abnormalities before?"

Lin Qiong shook his head, "No."

"Has he taken any medications?"

"I'm not sure about that." Lin Qiong rarely entered Fu Xingyun's room, so he didn't know if he was taking any medication.

Although it was a bit invasive of Fu Xingyun's privacy, given his unstable condition, Lin Qiong had no choice but to search the room. Eventually, he found a few bottles of medicine on the bathroom shelf.

"There are a few bottles here."

The doctor took a look and then had a serious expression. "Do you know what kind of medication this is?"

Seeing the doctor's grave expression, Lin Qiong realized it must be a serious illness. He cautiously spoke, "Constipation?"

The doctor took a deep breath, "Manic-depressive disorder."

Lin Qiong was startled; it turned out that Fu Xingyun's mental illness was a manic-depressive disorder.

The doctor looked at the medicine bottles. "During an episode, the symptoms often include uncontrollable elevated mood."

Saying that, he glanced at Lin Qiong, "Did he do anything just now?"

Lin Qiong pouted upon hearing that. "He yelled at me."

"Anything else?"

"He yelled loudly at me!"

"...," the doctor changed the question, "What about his behavior?"

"He grabbed me and yelled."

The doctor had to lower his head. "Then you've had a tough time."

"Who says I haven't," Lin Qiong continued, "He was emotionally agitated just now, and he pounded the ground with his hands, saying nonsense."

"What nonsense?"

Lin Qiong shook his head, unwilling to say more.

The doctor was about to ask again when Lin Qiong raised a finger. "Stop asking. It's not auspicious to discuss this in the middle of the night."

"..."

"I don't know much about his condition. Do you have the contact information for his psychiatrist?"

Lin Qiong thought for a moment. "I can check."

With that, he took out his phone and called Fu Xingyun's secretary.

"It's me."

"Mr. Lin... Is there... something wrong?"

Lin Qiong was puzzled, "Why is your voice breaking up."

Secretary, "I've been... exiled... specially assigned by the boss."

"..."

The use of the term "exiled" was quite clever.

"Xingyun is having a manic episode. Do you have his psychiatrist's number?"

The secretary sounded surprised, "Yes, I do. I'll send it to you now."

After receiving the number, Lin Qiong quickly made the call, and the psychiatrist, upon learning the situation, promised to come over soon.

Sure enough, within fifteen minutes, the psychiatrist arrived.

Lin Qiong went downstairs to open the door. "Thank you for coming, Doctor. I apologize for the trouble, especially at this late hour."

"No trouble," the psychiatrist waved his hand. "There's nothing that money can't solve."

Lin Qiong's small antenna on his head lifted, instantly receiving brainwaves. "Fellow compatriot?"

The psychiatrist was startled, "Are you also an enthusiastic youth?!"

"Everything is about money."

There was a momentary sense of camaraderie between the two.

Once upstairs, the doctor who was originally waiting in the room had a sudden change in expression upon seeing the newcomer. "Why is it you?"

The psychiatrist was also a bit surprised. "Why can't it be me?"

Lin Qiong popped his head out. "Could it be that you two know each other?"

The psychiatrist said, "College roommates, that's all." They weren't particularly close.

"I specialize in psychotherapy."

The doctor said, "I'm an all-around doctor."

"..."

Later, the psychiatrist didn't argue further and began observing Xingyun's condition.

Then he turned to Lin Qiong. "Did he hit you?"

Lin Qiong shook his head. "No."

Then, with a hint of fear, he asked, "Can manic episodes attack people?"

"Generally, they don't."

"Why do you ask then?"

"Because right now, you look like someone who has been domestically abused."

"..."

Lin Qiong walked into the bathroom and looked into the mirror.

"Wow! Where did these little bruises come from?"

It really did look a bit like that.

The psychiatrist glanced at Xingyun's medicine bottle. He had taken most of the medication, and the last time he came for a follow-up, the situation had improved a lot. This outbreak might be due to increased accumulation and stimulation.

The psychiatrist looked at Lin Qiong. "Has he recently experienced any stress? He seems to be under quite a bit of pressure now. It's best not to add more stress to the patient's condition."

Upon hearing this, Lin Qiong lowered his head. "Maybe it's because I keep nagging him in his ear to stand up that he ended up like this."

The psychiatrist asked, "Did he try when you mentioned it?"

"Yes."

"Then he probably isn't very resistant. In addition to this aspect, there must be other external stimuli. Continue with the medication as usual. If he wakes up tomorrow, you can come to my clinic for an electroencephalogram."

The psychiatrist patted Lin Qiong on the shoulder and said with a serious tone, "Don't worry too much. It's not easy for you to accompany him. You must stay optimistic, or you won't be able to hold on. After all, a long illness makes a filial son by the bedside." Moreover, the two of them were not blood relatives, and they could divorce at any time.

Lin Qiong looked at the already sleeping Xingyun and pulled the psychiatrist aside. "Do you have a good recommendation for a rehabilitation therapist?"

"The one who does laundry and cooking?"

"No, for rehabilitation training."

The psychiatrist thought for a moment. "There is one, but Mr. Fu generally resists accepting outsiders. I mentioned it to him before, but he refused."

Lin Qiong nodded.

Then the psychiatrist looked at Lin Qiong with some surprise. "How did you get Mr. Fu to accept you?"

Lin Qiong whispered in his ear, "You know nothing about strength."

"..."

Lin Qiong spoke and took out his phone, "Can you give me the contact information for the care attendants?"

The psychiatrist began searching for his phone.

"How many do you need?"

"How many are there? I need as many as there are."

The psychiatrist glanced at him.

Lin Qiong patted his pocket, "I have money."

"I think having more options is better."

"You don't need to explain." The psychiatrist said, "If you have money, everything you say is right."

"..."

With that, he sent the contact information to Lin Qiong and added, "Even though you've hired care attendants, make sure to soothe Mr. Fu's emotions. Don't put too much pressure on him, after all, the greater the expectations, the greater the disappointment."

Lin Qiong nodded, "I know."

The psychiatrist patted his shoulder, "Actually, I admire you. I didn't expect you to marry Mr. Fu. Usually, partners complement each other; otherwise, it's difficult to go forward together."

Lin Qiong smiled, "Actually, we complement each other quite well."

Then he glanced at Fu Xingyun, and for a moment, it resembled love.

The psychiatrist asked, "Does he lose his temper, and you are patient with him?"

"He has money, and I spend it."
