Confusion clouded Ellie's senses as she listened to the conversation going on in the room. After the first few words, the participant's voices were no longer as low as they had initially been, so she could hear what they were saying even without needing to press her ears against the door.
Most of the things they were talking about made absolutely no sense to her, but the few that made sense were boldly pointing toward a replacement and hitting on human betrayal.
The last thing she heard shook her heart so bad she dropped the scrub brush she held in her hand, and unfortunately, it made a hell of a noise.
Picking it up in haste, she commenced her job, hoping the noise wouldn't attract anyone.
With a heavy heart, Ellie finished with the bathroom and moved back to the bedroom, where she saw Storm getting off the bed.
His guests seemed to have left, and he, thankfully, had a shirt and pants on so she didn't feel even slightly uncomfortable.
