Capítulo 495: Chapter 494 "Pile Of Bones"

"I think it might be a bit hard for these kids. But if they can think of a solution, it shouldn't be too much of a problem, right?" Said Madam Maxime.

Dumbledore smiled and said, "If they can think of casting a Confundus Charm on themselves, the Mermaid Song won't have any effect on them."

Karkaroff didn't look very happy since he had just heard the details of the second stage, "Dumbledore, you didn't say that the content of the second stage would cause memory loss. What if Krum forgot his sense as a Seeker?"

Before Dumbledore could speak, Grindelwald glanced blankly at Karkaroff.

However, Dumbledore still explained gently, "This is the result of an ancient rune, which essentially blocks a user's memory instead of erasing that memory. If they want to complete the game in the end, they need to find a way to unlock it again."

Hearing Dumbledore's words, Karkaroff wanted to get angry, but he immediately suppressed it. Dumbledore is a good talker, but Grindelwald is not.

Hearing Karkaroff's words, Madam Maxime cleared her throat, "I hope they didn't encounter any trouble at the bottom of the lake."

"Listen, the easiest way to get past the Mermaid Song is to cast a Confundus Charm on yourself so that this essential song won't affect your brain. After all, an already confused brain can't be charmed." Sean explained.

The song is indeed easy to deal with for wizards who understand this kind of thing. Coincidentally, Sean heard it from Grindelwald when he was studying with him before.

Daisy was a little puzzled, "If we are under a Confundus, how can we get to the center?"

Stephanie said, "If your spell skills are strong enough, you can control the intensity of the spell so that even if his mind is in a state of confusion, you can still have some composure. However, since there are three people on the team, one person is enough. Someone can help remotely within the unaffected range."

Sean nodded, "It could have been solved with our cooperation, but we have an easier way."

Stephanie was taken aback for a moment and immediately reacted, "I see."

Daisy turned her head back and forth, "There is another way? What way? Why did you think of it all at once?"

Sean smiled, "Isn't the solution under us?"

"Under us?" Daisy looked down.

She suddenly realized, "Oh, right."

The Kelpie is different from a wizard. It has a much higher magic resistance than a normal wizard, and the biological instinct is stronger than a wizard.

"The song doesn't work on the Kelpie, so it's easy for us." Sean didn't say a word.

So simple that he felt that someone had created a back door for him. He maintained a good friendship with the Kelpie in the Lake, and Professor Dumbledore could not have planned this without a careful look.

"Just let the Kelpie bring me there. If the three of us are there, it's not safe," Sean said.

Both Stephanie and Daisy nodded; this was indeed the best choice.

Both raised their wands, ready to strike at the mermaid if anything happened. Although there is no one around now, there may be other contestants coming over at any time, and they may interrupt Sean's progress in order to prevent Sean from winning.

Sean let the Loch Ness Monster lurk aside and reconfirmed that there was no danger. He even opened the entrance and exit of the ring. If the monster suddenly appeared, the adult Loch Ness Monster would kill it directly.

The Kelpie gently wrapped Sean, and under Sean's command, it swam straight toward the center of the mermaid group. Sean had cast the Confundus Charm on himself, turned upside down for a while, and lost his sense of direction all of a sudden, but he still maintained the most basic sense.

As soon as he entered the effective range of the song, another sense of chaos also tried to rush into Sean's mind, but his head refused that. The mermaids glanced at each other, and they saw a huge Kelpie swimming towards the thing they wanted to protect, and the Kelpie carried a contestant they were supposed to stop.

This makes the mermaids a little confused. The Kelpie is considered their mate. Do they need to be stopped?

The mermaid leader thought for a while, and it made a series of piercing calls, indicating that the tribe didn't need to take any extra actions. This was not within the scope they had agreed with the wizards.

In this way, the Kelpie carrying Sean passed a large group of mermaids smoothly. The mermaids kept singing with their mouths open, but this was of no use to the Kelpie at all.

Soon, the Kelpie brought Sean to the center, and each of the five thick chains had a stone at the end.

"This is what I'm looking for." Sean didn't have much consciousness left, but enough for him to react to the target.

He swam over in a somewhat confused way and grabbed a stone inscribed with runes. A warm feeling surged from his arm. The small piece of lost memory really resurfaced again, and, to Sean's surprise, the rune-inscription stone not only unlocked his memory but also reversed the spell on him.

He was going to hold it in his hand and go back and ask Stephanie to undo the Confundus Charm for him. This is a good thing because if he carries it with him, wouldn't it be he will be immune to everything? Sean looked at the rune inscription stone in his hand, and an idea came to his mind.

But just thinking about it, chains bound the inscription stone. They were not going to let him take it away. Immunity to the Confundus Charm is not a useful thing anyway.

Only then did he have a clear consciousness to look around. The mermaids were not close to the center. They seemed to be just guarding the outer edge. When Sean entered, they were still singing, but they didn't intend to hinder Sean's actions.

The chains are tied to a large pile of white bones. The bones are of different shapes, including those of mermaids, humans, fish, and other types of animals. All kinds of bones formed a pile of bone mountains, which looked extremely weird at the bottom of this dark Lake.

Sean looked at the mountain of bones, and suddenly, his eyes froze. He turned his head and looked around, making sure that the mermaids didn't care about him, and swam over.

In the center of the bone mountain, there is a small, man-made land, and scattered throughout the land are a few skulls. That skull was the source of Sean's doubts.

He has seen this stuff. In the beginning, when he rashly breaks into the secret room in Slytherin's common room, he accidentally makes eye contact with the Basilisk living there. After that, he fell into a coma for a week.

According to Dave, the Basilisk brought back a strange skull from Black Lake, saying it could help Sean. It was a strange white bone skull. Before it was alive, it should have been some kind of canine animal. Its whole body showed a faint fluorescent white color and dark red flames surged inside the sharp fangs.

The flames inside jumped into Sean's body, helping him recover faster. Sean took the skull away at that time, but nothing was found from it, so it was left in the ring.

Today, several skulls are almost the same as the one in his ring scattered in front of Sean's eyes.

Did the Basilisk get the skull from here?

Sean lowered his head and looked it over carefully, confirming that it was almost the same as the one in his ring. There was a faint firelight flickering inside the skull.

Xiao En was stunned for a moment, and his eyes shrank suddenly.

The shape of this skull is similar to the head on the monster's waist, and those heads also spewed fire from their mouths after the monster woke up.

Could this be the monster's lair? But why is this place occupied by mermaids and regarded as a competition area?

While thinking, a burly mermaid closest to Sean suddenly made a series of piercing sounds.

"Human, don't stay here!"

Sean raised his head in surprise, "You can speak human language?"

The mermaid seemed to be the leader, "A little, not much."

He heard that Professor Dumbledore could speak mermaid language, but he didn't know that mermaids can speak human language.

Sean scratched his head, "Have I finished the game?"

"Of course, don't stay." The mermaid said again.

The completion of the second stage is so weird. Sean pointed to the bone mountain under him, "Is this your territory?"

"No, we want aquatic plants and fish. There are a lot of them here." The mermaid answers. Although she looks fierce, she is surprisingly easy to talk to.

Sean still didn't rush to leave, "Did Professor Dumbledore ask you to guard this place?"

The mermaid nodded, "Yes, Dumbledore! He gave us something, and we will do it!"

This place is not the mermaids' territory; it is temporarily used as a competition area for the mermaids to guard. Sean nodded thoughtfully.

He continued to ask, "When did you come here?"

The mermaid looked a little impatient, but he still answered Sean's question, "After you enter the water, we rush over."

"When you came here, did you notice any strange creatures here?"

"No, there has never been anything alive here. Aquatic plants, fish, mermaids, and Grindylow will not live here." The mermaid replied.

The speed of the mermaids in the Lake should be much faster than him. However, he used the teleport to shorten the distance.

"Is there anything weird about this place itself?" Sean tried to ask.

The mermaid bared her teeth impatiently at him, "I'm just a mermaid!"

He can't continue to ask her. However, Sean found that his talent for magical animals didn't seem to be so useful when facing humanoid, magical animals with high intelligence. This may have something to do with the communication between the mermaids and Professor Dumbledore.

Sean asked the last question, "Can I take something with me? You know, like souvenirs or something."

"You human!" said the mermaid leader. "Except for chains and stones, everything else is fine!"

Hearing what she said, Sean quickly opened the ring. Under the shocked eyes of the mermaids, a huge tail stretched out. The tail is extremely flexible, it stretches and curls directly encircling a part of the bone mountain.

"There's a little more—" Sean commanded with his wand, adding a few spells from time to time.

The mermaid watched as the tail rolled up a part of the bone mountain and got into the boy's ring.

The mermaid was shocked, "Magic!"

Sean nodded, "Yes, magic."

She immediately put on an expression of admiration, "You are as good as old man Dumbledore, amazing!"

"Well…"

Just as he was talking, the light from the Golden Dawn mark suddenly lit up. This was the signal he had agreed with Stephanie and Daisy when they were being attacked. Without saying any goodbyes, he grabbed the mane of the Kelpie, and the current pushed aside the mermaid.

Sean saw Stephanie and Daisy on the edge, guarding the front, and there was a dense aquatic grass area. With this, Sean narrowed his eyes.
