Capítulo 35: New Life
Moonlight illuminated the man-made island. The rock on the island was still hot with a large crater and debris scattered everywhere. Cool air blew on Torterra's face. The clear night sky and cool air gradually calmed him.
Rising to his feet, he went to the edge of the island and sat down there with his feet in the water. "I hate bugs!" Exhaling heavily, he thought. The house he had worked so long to build was destroyed, but this attack opened up a new way for him to use fire breath. He himself would never dare to try something like that, it is very painful and scary to swallow one's own fire.
This attack is too powerful and cannot be used thoughtlessly. The walls of his house were in some places 100 meters thick - 100 meters of solid stone. Despite this, the walls melted and flew in all directions. Apart from the wreckage, there is nothing left. You could of course say that this was possible because the room in the middle was almost airtight and the high pressure did the main work, but if he used this attack in the middle of the city, then there would still be nothing left of the city.
This attack is not like Godzilla's final attack from the second part of the film. For Godzilla to be able to make that attack, he needed Mothra's help. It was a symbiosis of two beings. Mothra sacrificed her life and sprinkled her pollen on Godzilla to strengthen him. Godzilla became very hot and released waves that burned and melted everything around him.
In Torterra's case, he also raised his body temperature, but he didn't emit hot shock waves. He glowed, and that light melted everything, then when the light reached its peak, he exploded, using up all the energy reserves it had built up over the years.
Torterra was now very tired and sat on the shore of his own island catching his breath.
Far from the island he saw ships. But these ships were not military, but research. On board the ships were small submarines and drones. The people on the decks stood in shock and fear, and they all looked at Torterra. They didn't know what had happened, they only knew that the place where Torterra was sleeping had exploded. Some of them thought the government had nuked it again, and that was the second reason for their fear. The first were meteorites, which almost drowned them. Some small stones fell on the deck and damaged the equipment, many people were injured.
They knew how smart Torterra was. He is the first being who can build something like this. They are sure that if they teach him sign language, he will be no different from a human. Now that the government had nuked him again, he could easily guess who was to blame.
Torterra became curious about what the scientific ships were doing here and what they were looking for under the water. He dived under the water and what he saw shocked him. There were strange plants at the bottom of the ocean. This was strange as all the plants in that area had died due to the crab-like Kaiju's blue blood. It was not only the presence of plants, but also their shape and color that was surprising. All the plants seemed to be of alien origin and had a blue color, some of these plants even glowed in some places.
"Whoa! What's that?" Torterra was delighted, as if he had entered another planet. But the similarity of plants with algae and corals said that it was some kind of mutation of ordinary plants. Come to think of it, there was no blue blood around anymore. Perhaps it was washed away by the current, or perhaps it was absorbed by these plants.
These plants did not exist in the original story, and the only reason they appeared was Torterra himself. Its ability to affect plants helped them adapt to an aggressive, toxic environment. "Now it's clear what scientists are doing here." This is good news at the end of the day. Being able to overcome Kaiju contamination of nature is good news. People can now breed these plants and plant them in infected areas. At least Torterra hoped so.
Although, if the plants turn out to be a toxic species that takes over the world and displaces the rest of the plants on the planet, then it will be a disaster. But these are people's problems. They have to deal with some grass.
POV: Scientists
We were directed to an incredible, artificial island built by our great creature. The military was informed us that there are some blue plants at the bottom of the ocean. After the first drone dive, we discovered a whole new ecosystem. Strange plants and corals glowed in the dark. It was the most incredible discovery.
We immediately got to work and began to study new types of plants. After collecting the samples, we conducted many tests. The similarity with already existing species on the planet was obvious, but each plant had different mutations. This zone was contaminated with Kaiju blood and there should be no life here, but in this zone the plants did not die, but adapted. They absorbed the remnants of blood in the ocean and turned it into their own source of nourishment.
Every plant in this zone was unique, even the algae were somehow different from each other. And together they created a strange symbiosis capable of supporting this ecosystem. Some plants constantly absorbed the blue toxin, while others produced it themselves. The plants that died sank to the bottom and nourished the blue roots of other plants. Corals also absorbed and filtered water, giving off a strange neon glow. It was very beautiful.
Despite the aggressiveness of the toxins in the water, life developed and flourished here. Even fish have learned to live here. They bypassed plants that produced the toxin and swam near those that absorbed and filtered it. The animals did not undergo any changes, but they still learned to live here.
However, if this area is not brought under control, it can create many problems for plants in the ocean. Especially those plants that produced blue toxin. We came to the conclusion that if these plants are removed, then the development of the ecosystem will stop. No one wanted to destroy the new species, but it was necessary to take them under control.
We immediately answered the question about the cause of these mutations. The reason for this was the presence of Torterra, wherever he was, there was a strange activity in the development of plants. Although it is difficult to trace, even in those places on land where he was for a short time, everything was covered with thick vegetation.
We don't know why this happens, but we think it has something to do with its ability to absorb radiation. The process itself is unknown, and we do not even know the laws of physics that govern this process. We all dream of exploring Torterra, but the military won't let us go there.
BOOOOOOOMMMM
A loud explosion rang out in the air. We ran out onto the ship's deck and saw a meteor shower falling on us. Giant stones, melted into an almost lava-like state, fell into the ocean, raising waves and spray. We started screaming and panicking, and the captain ordered us to hide inside the ship. We ran inside and the ship began to shake from the waves. Small stones fell on the ship like rain from fire. The whole ship was covered with black dots from the contact of metal with red-hot stones. Fires broke out in some places, but the crew responded in time and extinguished them.
"Quickly check the radiation level!" Something like this could only be caused by the explosion of a nuclear bomb. We ran to the devices and measured the level of radiation. But fortunately, there was a slight deviation from the norm, it was not fatal and by taking medicine, the long-term effects could be avoided.
"Why did the government do it again?" People on the decks of the ships asked questions. But there was no answer. We watched as Torterra, red-hot, emerged from the crater. He emitted a strange light, which gradually died down, and his whole body was covered with terrible wounds, as if he had been bitten by a pack of dogs.
"These wounds are very strange, did they come from an explosion?"
"I don't know, we need to report to the military about everything that happened here."
