"Miss Takatsuki, you're really smart, amazing," Lin Yi praised.
Takatsuki smiled politely but kept her head down, lost in thought.
"So, will there really be artificial food for ghouls?" Takatsuki asked again.
"Absolutely," Lin Yi replied confidently.
"You seem very sure about this, Mr. Lin," Takatsuki inquired.
"I just believe that research on ghouls is getting better and better. We'll eventually find a solution for humans and ghouls to live together," Lin Yi waved his hand.
"Mr. Lin is certainly optimistic." Takatsuki was momentarily surprised by the answer, but then she smiled.
"Maybe..." Lin Yi took out a box of cigarettes and offered one to Takatsuki. "Mind if I smoke?"
"Please go ahead," Takatsuki shook her head.
Lin Yi thanked her and lit a cigarette, blowing out smoke.
"Mr. Lin is really interesting. Despite your high position and reputation, I didn't expect you to be so carefree. But I feel like it's just a facade," Takatsuki looked into Lin Yi's eyes and spoke suddenly.
"Do I come across as fake?" Lin Yi said helplessly.
"No, I see ambition in your eyes," Takatsuki's voice turned cold. "Did you already figure out who I am when I entered the room?"
Lin Yi paused for a moment and continued smoking.
"What?"
"Since I walked in, you've been wary of me. Even though you seemed eager, you..." Takatsuki's voice stopped abruptly, and she made a swift move. In an instant, her small body burst forth with an incredibly powerful force. Her eyes turned dreadful red, and her right hand transformed into a demonic claw, covered in red.
But Lin Yi reacted quickly, leaping backward to dodge the attack, and the tea on the table spilled onto the floor.
"Just as I suspected," Takatsuki smiled, her eyes returning to normal, innocent and cute.
"What a nice teacup, what a shame," Lin Yi sighed. He had spent almost half a month's salary to buy that tea set.
"Investigator Li?!" A concerned voice came from outside the door.
"It's nothing. I accidentally broke the teacup," Lin Yi calmly replied, sitting back in his seat.
"I knew I didn't misjudge you," Takatsuki smiled, her narrowed eyes giving off an eerie feeling.
"I noticed when we first met," Lin Yi didn't answer. This was the Takatsuki he knew, someone who would give up everything for her so-called ideal.
In the original story, she sacrificed everything, even her own life, to bring peace between humans and ghouls, all for the sake of Kaneki.
She was even willing to sacrifice Tatara and Kaneki because she believed that Lin Yi had a higher chance of achieving peace than they did.
"Well, there's no need for riddles anymore," Lin Yi spoke frankly, opening up. "I hope you can help me. After the Battle of the 20th Ward, both Anteiku and Aogiri Tree will completely disappear, at least in the public eye. It has to be that way."
"Okay," Takatsuki readily agreed.
"Don't you want to know why?" Lin Yi was surprised.
"It doesn't matter. I've already made up my mind," Takatsuki shook her head. "I'll send all the members of Aogiri Tree to join the battle. But Lin Yi, please don't die. To make this grand plan more believable, I won't let them hold back."
"Do I need to do something?" Takatsuki asked again.
"Originally, I was going to contact the Shopkeeper of Anteiku and ask him to do it. Since you've come to me, I'll leave it to you," Lin Yi handed a photo to Takatsuki—it showed the CCG Director and Yoshitoki Washuu.
"You probably know more about him than I do. If he shows up, kill him!" Takatsuki frowned. Even as an SSS-rated ghoul, considering the power of the Washuu clan, it was something she couldn't guarantee.
"In fact, we still have plenty of time. There's no rush," Takatsuki thought further. Killing Yoshitoki Washuu would be like declaring war on the Washuu clan directly.
"There's no better time than now," Lin Yi shook his head. "With Anteiku and Aogiri Tree working together, all the Special Classes will be involved. He won't have much protection around him. And the Washuu clan will probably come after me."
Lin Yi smiled faintly.
Takatsuki looked at Lin Yi, hoping for mutual understanding.
"Because I have Kaneki in my possession, it's not just you who wants him," Lin Yi explained.
The Washuu clan was considered the most powerful family in the ghoul world, and they were the true hidden bosses.
In this clan, there were not only half-ghouls and ghouls, but also half-humans.
People like Kishou Arima and Kichimura Washuu were half-humans. Those with impure bloodlines in the clan were known as V, the enforcers of the Washuu clan.
Rize Kamishiro was also from the Washuu clan, with a pure bloodline. That's why she was so powerful, and many organizations coveted Kaneki, who had inherited her power and possessed a Half-Kakuja.
"If he shows up, either he or I will die," Takatsuki promised.
Her long-desired peace was finally making progress, and nothing could stop her now.
"We don't have to be so serious. Maybe everything will go smoothly," Lin Yi smiled happily, changing the subject.
The two chatted for a while, but their conversation revolved around Takatsuki's novel, discussing the experiences and intentions of the protagonist in her book, "Black Goat."
It was as if the previous events had never happened.
After about ten minutes of chatting, Takatsuki took her leave. Lin Yi stood up to see her off, and before parting ways, they exchanged contact information. They agreed that when Takatsuki's new book was released, she would send a copy to Lin Yi.
