“Oh! I'm sorry Miss,” I said while taking a glance at her. All I saw was a very beautiful lady in front of me with her perfect, simple make-up on, that was enhancing her beauty more. And I nearly ruined her make-up by bumping into her.
“No, it is okay, I was the one who was more focused on my phone screen than looking on the way, “she said politely, while inclining her phone to the position of her face to check if the make-up it's still perfect the way it was before.
As I was about to utter my name to her, she stormed out immediately when her phone starts to ring. Well, it seems as if we are heading to the same direction, hopefully we will be in the same class.
I walked in, inside my classroom, and I could feel the stare of the whole class.
“And who are you?” an old man standing in front of me, with a raspy voice asked.
“I am Nathan Roberts, I just got transferred from the University of New South Wales,” I said it boldly.
He turned himself to look at me, and he walked slowly toward me, and said “Mm, on your first day, you are already late in my class!” he said sarcastically, looking at me all the way down and up.
No one could blame me from being late, I mean, I just got here yesterday, and I am new to this University including this country. My dad and I got here yesterday at 3pm by flight. By the way, I am from New South Wales, Sydney in Australia, and now I am in a new country called South Africa, I'm in the city named: Cape Town. I heard it has a very beautiful, and peaceful ocean, that I would like to visit on my free time or day.
My father and I went to look for a grocery store to buy groceries and some of my toiletries yesterday after few hours of arriving, I couldn't believe I could get everything I need on my toiletry list in South Africa, not that I condemn this country, I just thought most of the things I use they are only in my country.
It has a very friendly environment; I loved the pleasant scent of flowers I picked yesterday when I was walking with my father looking for a store. The flowers were being placed beside the door of florist store. I couldn't have time to do most of everything yesterday, so I got late because I was busy looking for my faculty, for over an hour, and yes, I admit that I got a little distracted on the hallway by the beautiful girl I just met. She was the most beautiful girl I have seen since I got here.
“Please excuse my being late! I'm sorry it won't happen again,” I said bowing slightly.
“Okay, you can go and find an empty seat young man, by the way, I am Professor Poof,” he said while turning to his chalkboard.
I couldn't help but to chuckle while covering my mouth with my right hand, pretending as if I was coughing. What kind of a last name is that? I shook my head from that thought.
“Oh! You can laugh freely, as long as you will make your way to the seat so that I could proceed with my lesson,” he said whilst his right hand on the chalkboard.
After turning to face all students who were still staring at me, I notice a hand on my left side, to the fourth row that has only four guys with an empty seat next to the last guy. I rushed over there, and they all gave me a warm welcoming smile, and I also gave away my small smile to them before sitting down.
“Hi, I'm Edward,” said by the first guy on my left side, he seems like a free person.
“Hey, I'm Eddie,” said by the second guy, who looks cute than the rest, and more of an introvert like me.
“I'm Toni,” the third guy said while waving his hand, with a wide smile, he's only a black guy to all of his friends, and I can tell that he's more talkative.
“Hi, I am Aaron, nice to meet you,” he said with a smile also, and that was the fourth and the last guy.
“Nice to meet you all, as you heard over there, I am Nathan Roberts, I'm new here, and thank you for the seat,” I said while taking out my stationery from my backpack.
A loud shout came from the front, from Professor Poof, saying “When you are all done talking over there in my class, please let us know so that I can start with my teaching, and guess what! After the lesson I will hand you all the papers for assignment that I will need in two days,” he looked directly at my row.
The whole class made a loud sigh. And my eyes wandered all over the class searching for the girl I saw on the hallway, and I got a bit disappointed when I couldn't see any sign of her in this class.
My classes got a lot better, because I was attending with Edward and his friends. They are fun dudes to hand out with, what I like more about them, it's that they care mostly about school, they listen very attentively in all classes, except the first one, they got a little distracted because of me.
“Do you want to eat, Nathan?” Edward asked, while checking the time on his watch on the right wrist of his.
“I am starving,” I said while brushing my tummy in a circular way.
“There's a cafeteria on the right side over there, we could go there and grab some food, yeah?” said Edward, with the question at the end.
“Anything, I'm cool with it,” I said while shaking my head in a quite motion.
Anyway, I was walking with a focus to a cafeteria following my friends, until I stepped inside then I noticed the girl I saw earlier on the hallway, she's few meters away from where I was standing near the door. She was sitting with her friend; they were five of them including her. My eyes widen wider when starring at her, how could they not? I mean, she is so pretty, the way she laughed whilst covering her mouth with her tiny, cute fingers, and the way she curls her lips when she starts chewing her food, I totally find that very cute.
I panicked when her eyes reached my destination, she immediately stopped chewing her food and stare at me also, my heart skipped a bit, and I rapidly went to my friends who were already at the food side with trays on their hands. I kept my eyes on my empty tray on the line waiting to be next.
I followed my friends who were walking toward the table front opposite to that girl's table, I mean, how could they want to sit there? But I can't blame them, they don't know anything. The only seat that was left for me to sit on, it was front opposite to hers, meaning we were directly looking at each other, but I saw her switching her seat with her other female friend. It was a question to myself; do I annoy her?
