Chapter 73: Future Trunks and Future Enemy
As the ominous aura manifested, Trunks' countenance instantaneously shifted to one of seriousness and anger.
"This energy, it's Black Goku," he thought, recalling the destroyer of the future Earth and the slayer of 99% of its populace. That was the name they'd given him.
Though he bore an uncanny resemblance to Goku, his disposition was starkly different. He was nothing more than a bloodthirsty demon. In his eyes, mortal beings were as insignificant as ants, and he referred to them as filthy creatures.
Krillin also sensed the malevolent ki. Even after becoming an artificial human, he retained the ability to perceive the energy of others. It was one of his strengths, a concealed power. Nobody could detect his own energy, potentially lulling them into a false sense of security.
"Goten, Krillin, that aura belongs to the guy who wrecked the future," Trunks explained. "We call him Black Goku."
"I never imagined this guy could traverse time and space to follow us here," he added.
"This is problematic," Trunks continued. "He might bring devastation to this time and space."
Trunks swiftly withdrew his Brave Sword from its sheath on his back, ready to confront Black Goku. He was determined to prevent him from running amok in this era.
"Let's go. I'm quite intrigued by this guy," Goten calmly remarked.
Goku had become truly malevolent, but his power was still relatively weak. Though he had assumed Goku's body through Super Shenron's wish, he hadn't mastered the power fully. He couldn't even attain Super Saiyan God status. "Is it possible to obliterate him entirely?" Goten wondered.
"Agreed," Trunks replied.
Afterward, they all exited the house. In the sky, a massive, purplish-black rift opened, crackling with purple lightning. From within the rift, a figure emerged.
The figure was identical to Goku in appearance, with a green earring on his right ear and a space-time ring on his finger. His martial arts attire was as black as his aura, but his eyes were unmistakably Goku's.
"Ugh... This bastard!" Trunks clenched his fists, his eyes blazing with anger. In the future, he knew that Black Goku had likely taken the lives of his mother and others.
"Oh? Trunks... and Krillin, and the son of Goku?" Black Goku remarked as he noticed the group. Having taken over Goku's body, he possessed Goku's memories, which allowed him to recognize Krillin and infer Goten's identity.
Black Goku mused, "I didn't expect Goten to grow up in this time and space. Since they've been inexplicably transported here, it's time to eliminate them too."
As everyone observed Black Goku in the sky, Bulma whispered, "Son Goku..."
"Mom, that guy isn't Goku," Trunks replied.
Trunks issued a warning, and with a swift motion, he drew his Brave Sword from behind him, letting out a resounding roar.
"Haaaa...haaaa." He let out a deep roar and seamlessly transitioned into Super Saiyan II form.
Trunks had been the sole defender of the future, training tirelessly every day to prepare for future enemy after the threat posed by Android 17, Android 18, and Cell. His mastery of Super Saiyan II was now complete, even perfected, but he knew it might not be enough to face Black Goku.
And his opponent would only grow stronger as they clashed. "Damn demon, I'll put an end to you this time!" As Super Saiyan II, Trunks vanished instantly and reappeared above Black Goku. He wielded his Brave Sword with both hands and delivered a powerful slash.
Meanwhile, Krillin marveled, "Good... impressive! Trunks has become incredibly powerful. He's on par with Goku and the others now." Trunks displayed astonishing speed and strength, rivaling even Goku in his Super Saiyan Three form. Krillin pondered how Trunks had achieved such strength on his own.
"Loneliness and despair can drive a person to become strong rapidly," Goten explained. "In the future, Trunks had no one to rely on but himself. He had to become stronger to protect the Earth and defeat his enemies."
Krillin considered his own experience, as he had been the Earth's last hope at one point. He understood why Trunks had pushed himself so hard.
"Behind him, there's no longer any support. He must rely on himself."
In the midst of their battle in the sky, Black Goku remained unperturbed by Trunks' ferocious strike. They had fought countless times in the future and space. Trunks' power and fighting style were familiar, and Black Goku was unfazed.
He seized Trunks' Brave Sword and formed a black energy ball, which exploded on Trunks' chest, sending him hurtling through the air. A cloud of black mist filled the sky, and Trunks had to utilize his Ki to regain control of his body after being flung dozens of feet away.
Meanwhile, Black Goku descended upon Trunks, delivering a roundhouse kick that connected with his neck, causing a resounding boom and sending Trunks crashing into the ground, creating a massive crater. It was evident that even at full power as a Super Saiyan 2, Trunks was outmatched by Black Goku.
Krillin rushed to assist Trunks, helping him to his feet, and then turned his attention to the formidable opponent in the sky. He murmured, "That guy's strength is astonishing. Even if Goku were resurrected, I doubt he could match up." Krillin acknowledged that, despite his own training with Whis, he couldn't transform like the Saiyans to bolster his power.
"Let me confront this Black Goku," Goten proposed to the group.
Then, a figure materialized in front of Black Goku.
"Hey! Daring to trespass onto Earth without permission, you're quite audacious!" Goten glared at Black Goku, his tone icy.
He had sworn that he would send these villains to their doom the moment they set foot on Earth. Though the Black Goku before him wasn't from this time or space, he was no exception.
"Tsk! Stupid kid, you're Goku's youngest son! In my time and space, I crushed you like an ant." Black Goku smirked devilishly, relishing his taunts.
Black Goku thought, "Although this kid's not the same one I killed, their fate will be identical."
"Is that so? If that's the case, you're even more foolish than I thought," Goten retorted in an extremely nonchalant manner.
"Kid, don't be insolent in front of a god!"
"In the eyes of a god, you're nothing more than a horde of filthy, ignorant insects." Black Goku seethed with anger at Goten's indifference.
Black Goku thought, "These foolish and filthy mortals are always so self-righteous. That's why I'm determined to wipe them out. Their corruption stains this beautiful universe. Once these impure creatures are purged, the universe will be restored to purity. I shall create my own paradise."
"Supreme Kai, a mere candidate from the Tenth Universe, dares to spew such nonsense! In my view, you're the self-righteous pest." Goten's tone remained detached, ignoring Black Goku completely.
Even the Gods of Destruction in the Tenth Universe didn't intimidate the present Goten. Moreover, Black Goku was merely a candidate Supreme Kai who had taken someone else's body.
"Just trash," Goten muttered.
"You stubborn insect, die!" Black Goku roared in fury.
Unexpectedly, the kid before him was more infuriating than Goku. "In that case, let's eliminate him too! Besides, this planet is expendable, so let's obliterate it entirely."
As Black Goku lunged towards Goten, who hadn't undergone any Saiyan transformations, his speed and strength clearly exceeded Trunks.
"Watch out, Goten, that guy is incredibly powerful," Trunks quickly cautioned. Goten was still quite young, and Trunks doubted he could match Black Goku.
The instant Black Goku threw a punch, Goten caught his fist and twisted it with tremendous force, resulting in a crisp bone-cracking sound. Black Goku's entire arm deformed, rendering him combat ineffective. In the next moment, Goten vanished like a blur.
At that moment, none of them could track Goten clearly—only the continuous, unmistakable sound of bones breaking.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
Simultaneously with the piercing screams, Black Goku's eyes reflected sheer terror. "How can this kid be stronger than Goku? He's so unlike the Goten I killed!"
In that moment, an unprecedented sense of fear gripped him.
Black Goku thought, "He's just a kid, yet his power is incredible! Stronger even than the Goku I encountered before..."
Trunks was utterly bewildered by the sight of Black Goku, who had been rendered powerless in the blink of an eye. He rubbed his eyes vigorously, wondering if he was experiencing a hallucination. Goten's strength was staggering, and he had completely incapacitated Black Goku.
"Is this supposed to be a god? Weak and worthless," Goten remarked. His tone remained indifferent, showing he didn't take Black Goku seriously, not even if he transformed into Super Saiyan Rose or a fused Zamasu.
"No... impossible!" Black Goku kept muttering in disbelief.
Black Goku thought, "After all my scheming, I finally obtained the Super Dragon Balls and exchanged bodies with Goku. Am I to meet my end here? I won't accept it!"
However, he had completely lost the capacity to fight, akin to a fish on a chopping board, ready to be dispatched. Just as Black Goku gazed at Goten in disbelief, Goten vanished again. A powerful punch pierced through Black Goku's body.
Poof!
Following this, Black Goku's pupils expanded rapidly.
A dreadful, deathly Ki of destruction instantly enveloped him. He hadn't anticipated that, after following Trunks to this time and space, he would be swiftly killed. Were his grand ambitions ending here?
Simultaneously, no one noticed the space-time ring on Black Goku's finger emitting a faint light. Shortly after, the purple-black hole behind him swiftly began closing.
Whoosh!
In the next moment, the badly injured Black Goku was absorbed by the purple-black hole.
"What... what just happened?"
"Black Goku's gone!" Trunks panicked as he observed Black Goku being drawn into the purple-black hole. If this villain escaped to the future time and space, it would spell disaster for the future, with all survivors likely meeting their end.
"Did he escape?" Krillin asked quickly.
"Well, I was a bit careless just now and forgot about his ability to traverse time and space," Goten replied. "But it's not a major issue because I can resolved this issue." He mentioned his plan to deal with Zamasu and obtain the undying body.
"This way, we won't need to squander the Super Dragon Ball's wish..." Goten concluded.
