Returning to the confrontation, Nagato cast a cold glance at Naruto.
After a moment of silence, he uttered, "Alright, let me help you understand our pain."
Upon hearing this, Konan involuntarily frowned.
"Nagato, don't waste time. Give this guy to..."
"Wait, Konan."
Nagato interrupted before Konan could finish her sentence.
"I want to hear this guy's answer. Besides, he was able to defeat six Pains, and he came here alone."
There's nothing wrong with Nagato's thinking. He also wants to defeat Naruto's ideas with his own.
This kind of victory is the most heartfelt and effective, and the process is much easier than a fierce battle with Naruto today.
"My biggest pains are two."
"One of them is to avenge death of my parents..."
As Nagato spoke, a vivid image appeared in everyone's minds.
In a war-torn, dilapidated house, young Nagato huddled with his parents.
Fatigue and worry were etched on their faces as they sought a trace of peace in the raging flames of war
Suddenly, heavy footsteps and the clash of steel echoed outside.
Nagato's father stood up, rushed to the window, and peered outside.
"Quick, hide!" His face changed as he ordered urgently.
Without a moment's hesitation, Nagato's mother grabbed him and concealed him in a secret compartment under the bed.
Bang bang bang!!
Heavy knocks on the door, followed by the splintering sound of it being kicked open. Konoha Shinobi entered the room.
"Is there no one? It looks like someone lives here," one of the ninjas said doubtfully.
Nagato's father stepped forward, hands raised. "Please, we are civilians. Don't hurt us."
"Civilians? These days, who can guarantee that you're not enemy spies?" Another ninja sneered, drawing his dagger.
With a chilling sound, Nagato's father crumpled to the ground. Nagato's mother screamed and rushed out, meeting the same fate.
The room reeked of blood, and Nagato, hidden in the shadows, trembled involuntarily.
He witnessed his parents being killed by the so-called "righteous" ninjas, feeling lost and in despair.
"Let's go, there's nothing to see here," one of the ninjas muttered as they left the house.
Once they were far away, Nagato emerged, trembling, kneeling beside his parents' lifeless bodies.
Tears streamed down uncontrollably. In that moment, a voice shattered the oppressive silence.
"Are you okay?" It was Yahiko and Konan, who rushed in with panic on their faces.
Nagato wordlessly pointed to his parents' lifeless forms.
Both Yahiko and Konan felt a pang of heartache at the sight.
"Sorry we didn't come earlier," Yahiko said, biting his lip.
"No, it's not your fault. It's the world... it's too cruel," Nagato's voice was low, filled with pain and disappointment.
Konan approached, delicately taking out a piece of cloth to cover Nagato's parents.
"We can't let them be exposed like this."
Yahiko clasped Nagato's hand with a firm grip, a silent pledge binding them together.
"From this moment forward, we're a family – living not only for ourselves but for them and to transform this world."
Nagato's gaze shifted between Yahiko and Konan, a slow nod affirming the newfound bond.
In the tumultuous world they navigated, their reliance on one another solidified, and they shared a collective purpose – to reshape a world drowning in agony and hopelessness.
As Nagato returned to the present, his focus honed in on Naruto.
"You now comprehend, Naruto, the profound anguish etched into my soul by the loss of my parents in such a manner.
The Konoha Shinobi inflicted more than just physical wounds; there are emotional scars that refuse to mend."
A moment of contemplative silence enveloped Naruto before he spoke, his words deliberate and understanding.
"Nagato, I may not be able to live your pain, but I understand how pain and suffering change a person.
The question is, do you believe that seeking retribution through more suffering and death will truly widen the path to your own healing?"
Nagato fixed his gaze on Naruto, searching for sincerity within his words.
After a moment of contemplation, he questioned, "Then what can you do to change this world full of pain?"
With a deep breath, Naruto responded resolutely, "I don't know, but I'll keep searching until I find a way without pain and hatred."
A faint smile played on Nagato's lips, almost mocking Naruto's innocence.
Meanwhile, Carnes raised an intrigued eyebrow, commenting, "It seems that this battle has finally become interesting."
