Chapter 15: New Friends???
In the classroom, four people could be seen staring at a boy with long black hair and blue eyes. Hideo started to feel uncomfortable, so he decided to introduce himself.
"Uh, as my brother said, my name is Gojo Hideo, please call me Hideo. I don't want any confusion with my brother. And, I suppose I should explain a bit about myself. I like hamburgers, sleeping, and also manga and novels. I guess that's it. I hope we get along well." Hideo introduced himself with a smile, but the discomfort was evident on his face.
Hideo has never been good at making friends because he spent all his time studying and working. The little free time he had was for sleeping. But now, in this new life, things are different. He has more time to rest and enjoy earthly pleasures, so he can be considered normal now. Nevertheless, he still needs to get used to dealing with people.
The rest of the people in the room nodded, and Yuta confirmed his thoughts that they could get along well. The others decided to introduce themselves as well.
"Panda, I'm a panda. Nice to meet you." the panda introduced himself with a smile.
Hideo is a little scared of this panda. He has never seen an animal talk like a normal person before. Moreover, whenever he looks at the panda, he has the sensation of being watched by three people at the same time.
"And this is Inumaki Toge. He only speaks using onigiri ingredients, but don't worry, he's a good person." Panda continued, pointing to the white-haired boy with a scarf.
"Salmon." Inumaki greeted, waving his hand.
"I'm Yuta Okkotsu. Just call me Yuta. Sorry for Rika's behavior. I promise it won't happen again. I hope we can get along well." Yuta said, feeling a bit uncomfortable, but his voice showed more confidence. He feels a strange connection with Hideo, apart from their similar circumstances, which makes him feel affinity towards Hideo.
"I'm Maki, just Maki. I have some questions for you, so I hope you can answer them." the black-haired girl said, looking directly into Hideo's blue eyes.
Hideo nodded. He has no problem answering questions as long as he doesn't have to reveal the existence of the system and his past. That's something he would like to take to the grave and not easily disclose.
Maki nodded and started asking.
"How did you awaken your cursed energy? As far as I know, that shouldn't be possible." Maki said, squinting her eyes and paying attention to every move Hideo made.
"Well, the truth is, I don't know how it happened. I was unaware of the existence of cursed energy. It was only when I woke up today that I noticed the changes in my body. I realized my body was stronger, and everything seemed to somehow improve. After that, my brother explained everything about this hidden world to me, but I have no idea how I obtained cursed energy or why I didn't have it in the first place. So, I'm sorry I can't answer your question." Hideo replied.
Maki clicked her tongue and left the room, under the gaze of everyone. Panda nervously tried to fix the situation.
"Don't worry about her. She's just in a bad mood because she didn't get answers. I'll try to calm her down. But before that, a question: big or small breasts?" Panda asked with a perverted expression on his face.
Hideo wasn't bothered by the question, so he answered sincerely.
"I don't have an answer to that. I like both, but if I had to choose, I'd say medium." Hideo said with a serious expression, as if what he just said was a top-secret state matter. (Please forgive him, he was Young.)
Upon hearing this response, Panda jumped joyfully. "Great! I'll go calm down Maki. See you later! Maki, wait, you have a chance!" Panda shouted as he left the room.
This left three people in the room, staring at each other. "Well, how about we talk a little? We'll be together for a while, so it's best to get to know each other." Hideo said, to which the other two in the room nodded and sat down in their seats.
"Well, Yuta, why don't you tell me about yourself? I heard you arrived yesterday, so I'd like to know what brought you here," Hideo said, looking at the strange boy.
Yuta nodded and began to speak. "Well, when I was a child, I had a friend. I had sworn to marry her, but one day she was hit by a truck, and I couldn't bear her death. So, without realizing it, I cursed her and trapped her in my ring. So now, I hope to become strong enough to free her someday. My current goal is to exorcise as many curses as I can until that moment comes, so I can feel that I deserve to live and that everything I've done has meaning. I want to be proud of being alive someday." Yuta said, holding his ring and looking at it as if it were something precious.
"Wow, that's deep. I didn't expect such a backstory. It sounds like something out of a manga protagonist's story. Well, I'll help you in any way I can, so don't worry. We're friends now, so feel free to ask for help." Hideo said with a smile. They didn't seem like bad guys, so Yuta quickly accepted them. Yuta nodded in response with a shy smile.
"And you, Inumaki? I'm not sure how we can communicate." Hideo said, with a strange expression, remembering that Inumaki couldn't speak normally.
In response, Inumaki simply raised a finger and took out a notebook from his desk, writing something in it. "Don't worry, I can communicate through here if it doesn't bother you."
"Oh, don't worry, it's fine. I have no problem with that. And you, Yuta?" Hideo asked.
Yuta just nodded with a small smile, enjoying the conversation with people after a long time.
Inumaki simply raised his thumb in agreement and began writing in his notebook. "Well, let me introduce myself. I'm Toge Inumaki. You can call me whatever you want. I'm from the Inumaki clan, and I can't speak due to my cursed technique. I can only use words that are ingredients for onigiri. Apart from that, you can count on me. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I hope we can get along."
Yuta and Hideo nodded. After that, they started chatting about their lives and abilities.
After an hour, the three boys could be seen smiling. Hideo was the one who talked the most, but Yuta was not far behind. Inumaki simply nodded and occasionally contributed by writing in his notebook.
While they were chatting, the door to the room opened, and Satoru entered with a smile on his face. "Looks like you're getting along well. I'm glad my little brother made friends. I wouldn't know what to do if he were left without friends for the rest of his life." Gojo said, pretending to wipe away tears with his sleeves.
"Shut up, old man. You know I have a few Friends." Hideo said with a frown.
"Really? I thought they were your girlfriends. After all, you're just as handsome as me, so it would be logical for you to have one or two girlfriends." Gojo said, teasing Hideo.
"Shut up. I don't have a partner, but you should get one. You're almost 30 and still don't have a girlfriend," Hideo said, attacking a weak point.
"Hmm, I don't have time for those mundane things. A relationship is not for me." Satoru said with a pout.
Hideo simply rolled his eyes at this statement.
"Well, leaving the jokes aside, it's time to go. It's time to hunt a 'llorona'." Satoru said.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say. Well, see you later, guys. We'll talk when I come back." Hideo said, bidding farewell to his new friends.
"See you later, Hideo." Yuta said with a smile.
Inumaki simply nodded and waved goodbye.
After that, Gojo and Hideo left the room, and as they walked down the hallway, they began a conversation.
"So, how about it? Nice guys, right?" Gojo said, glancing at Hideo.
"Yeah, they're good people. Honestly, I was afraid that everyone would be like you." Hideo said with a shiver. He likes to make fun of people due to Satoru's influence, but he doesn't have as thick skin as him yet, so dealing with many people like his brother scared him.
"Hey." Hideo ignored Satoru and continued talking.
"Although I would have liked to talk more with Maki and Panda." Hideo said, remembering the strange reaction of the girl when she found out that he awakened his cursed energy seemingly out of nowhere.
"Heh, so you're after Maki. I just warn you, it'll be difficult. She's very focused on her goal, so I don't think she has time for relationships." Satoru said with a mocking smile.
"I didn't mean that, idiot." Hideo said, elbowing Satoru, which the latter easily dodged.
"Well, let's leave that topic for later. It's time for the trip. It'll probably be for a week or so. I'll teach you the basics of jujutsu, although you'll probably have to learn them by fighting, but we'll figure it out as we go." Satoru said.
"Wait, fighting? I have no experience in that-" Hideo said before he could finish his sentence, they disappeared from the school thanks to Gojo's limitless, and silence returned to the hallways.
