Derora could finally breathe easy, it had been such a whirlwind ever since she woke up. Brushing her son's hair was as much for him as it was for her.

And as she gently ran the brush's bristles through his long dark hair, she was once again plagued with how much she had missed. But that had only felt like several hours of sleep to her, to her lover and her child, they had to wait centuries for her to wake up.

"It must have been so difficult," She spoke softly, each stroke of the brush deliberate, letting her son rest his head against her midsection. "Waiting for me for so long, not knowing when I would wake."

Andras felt a lump in his throat, his face buried in his mother's clothes, the darkness and warmth welcoming. He would do this when he was younger, tuck himself against her side to fall asleep. He would have given a lot to hear her voice just once, now he had it all.
