Capítulo 41: Diablo

Hey sorry for the late upload!

Im still working on remastering but I figured I could continue this arc as not much will change. This way you guys can get some new content while I rework the old content.

-----------------

After returning to the palace, Menma lay on the throne lazily.

"Irene, come over to me..." Menma said with boredom, motioning Irene over to him.

After glancing at the ministers below who had not yet left, Irene walked beside Menma, feeling extremely humiliated but not letting it show.

"I heard that the kingdom gets attacked frequently. Is that true?" Menma asked, standing up from his lazy posture and walking toward Irene.

With Menma standing in front of Irene, she found herself slightly nervous. The recent conversations with him flashed through her mind.

She felt extremely conflicted when she thought of him. She hated her life, but she had a duty to uphold. Could she really forsake her duty for her own selfishness?

"Yes, we often get attacked... You don't even know this as our new protector?" Irene questioned sarcastically, trying to gain some semblance of control.

Menma looked into her eyes before turning towards the ministers, ignoring her.

"Heh... I guess you can't do much about the attacks, can you, Laffers. Aren't you very proud of being a noble? What, your status can't help you with this one?" Menma asked with a chuckle.

Laffers, standing off the side with the other ministers, felt a vein pop on his forehead.

"No, I can't..... Fox Demon..." Laffers managed to stammer out, holding in his anger.

"Are you sure? This palace seems mighty grand for someone who can barely do anything... Much nicer than the slums surrounding your place outside..." Menma questioned in a sly voice.

"The palace is a symbol of our nation... It's much more important than anything else." Laffers stuttered, trying to convince Menma with little success.

Irene, hearing this, felt anger burn up within her hearing Laffers. She knew Laffers cared little for the people but had no idea how little.

Menma just smirked underneath his mask before bringing his head up to whisper in Irene's ear.

"Do you want to kill all of them?" Menma asked softly.

Irene felt her eyes widen in horror.

"Why do you look so scared? Wouldn't that make you happy? I can feel your anger towards him." Menma asked curiously.

Irene struggled to speak, hearing Menma's words.

"I-I can't... If I do, the Uzumaki Clan would suffer..." Irene managed to speak shakily.

"Oh, how your duty binds you..." Menma said listedly...

*RRRoooaaaaarrrr!*

As soon as Menma's words fell, the unmistakable sound of a demon tide reached everyone's ears.

Irene turned away abruptly, "Demons! Demons are attacking!"

"We can finish this conversation later..." Menma said, walking towards the terrace of the throne room.

"You can come with me for this one, Irene... As for Laffers, just stay here and do whatever you nobles do at times like this..." Menma said with a chuckle.

Laffers felt the rage build up within him again but found himself helpless to do anything.

The Fox Demon was too strong...

On the terrace overlooking the kingdom, dozens of demons could be seen running towards a large property that stood out from the poor slums.

"It seems that the Heartfillia's are being attacked... We need to help them." Irene said in a panic.

Menma, who heard the name Heartfilia, felt his brow perk up.

The Heartfillia were a small family of ninjas known for the unique summoning beasts related to the Zodiacs.

The clan had died off in his time, with only one or two remaining members. To think that the Heartfillias were once a part of this kingdom...

"Interesting..." Menma thought to himself with a smirk.

"Alright, let's go help them out..."

-----------------

It didn't take long to arrive, but most of the Heartfilia estate was already in rubble.

"What terrifying power!" Irene muttered to herself, looking at the destruction.

Menma and Irene were still a short distance from the destination, and Irene's face had already begun to become serious.

"It's a demon king..." Irene said, turning to Menma.

"Demon King?" Menma asked curiously.

In all his time facing demons, the highest he had gone against were generals.

According to what he had learned, the strength of demons was ranked by the soldier, squad leader, general, demon king, and emperor.

According to Irene, only a couple demon kings and only one emperor existed.

He was very interested in how strong a Demon King level was.

Running towards the estate, Menma felt a blast of heat.

"I'm afraid it's a Demon King of the fire element. Stabilize yourself, Irene..." Menma said without looking back.

Erin pulled out the staff behind her back and stuck it in the ground to secure her body.

"Whew..."

Menma exhaled softly, and suddenly, a powerful chakra burst out, tearing the surrounding space and condensing the air to the point of being visible to the naked eye.

Just a second later, a blast of flame attacked them from the front.

Menma quickly sealed with his hands before placing his palms on the floor.

"Summoning: Triple Rashōmon"

Three massive gates appeared in front of them, blocking them from the stream of flames.

Upon contact, the first gate instantly started to melt, allowing the flames to pass through to the second gate, where the fire began to melt again.

Soon, the second gate had been broken through, but its power was not even a quarter of what it had once been.

Irene, standing behind Menma, looked at the gates in awe. If it weren't for Menma reminding herself and helping, she might have really fallen by now if not seriously injured.

*Boom!*

A huge body appeared from the rubble, bathing in flames, appeared in front of the two.

"As a human being, you are so powerful? It seems your reputation as the Fox Demon is not short-lived..." a chaotic voice echoed.

The intense heat radiating off his body distorted the air as the flames engulfing it prevented anyone from seeing its specific body and appearance.

The cover of the flames made it impossible to see his facial features, and fear was deeply imprinted in the hearts of witnesses.

Demon King of Flame! Diablo!

(I have trademarked the name Diablo. I can assure you that nobody has ever used the name Diablo for a demon. Any proof otherwise is fabricated and/or copied. Please report to me if you find any, as they are using it without my permission.)

Menma spoke with his head held high.

"I'm glad to know my reputation with your people is as loud as ever..."

Diablo let out something resembling a laugh.

"Do you feel proud, human... All you have killed are some generals. If not because I was bored, do you think I would need to come and defeat you?" Diablo asked with a wave of heat.

"Huh, the demon I killed the other day said otherwise... Something about how demons won't tolerate me anymore..." Menma asked back with a smile underneath his mask.

"Enough talk! Prepare yourself, human! If not, I'll kill all of these useless humans!" Diablo yelled out, clearly annoyed.

Menma simply raised his hand and cocked his index finger toward Diablo.

"Hey... You're right. These guys are useless, but I've been hired to protect them by someone... " Menma said.

Diablo and Irene, who had already dodged a short distance, were stunned.

After a long while, Diablo raised his mouth.

"Interesting, but you will also die here today!"

His massive hand slapped down, still carrying a roaring flame.

Because of his unique body, Diablo was extremely proficient with the fire attribute.

"Huh?!"

Irene quickly backed away.

The ground under her feet began to scorch as black ash filled the air.

"Fire Demons Bellow"

Diablo took in a massive gulp of air before letting out a stream of fire to the surrounding area.

"I didn't know demons named their attacks," Menma said with a laugh as his right arm erupted with a violent green and purple poisonous gas.

*Poison claw!*

Diablo and Menma exchanged attacks, with flames and poisonous gases corroding everything around them.

Irene was powerless in a duel of this level and opted to take out the other demons in the area.

*Universe One!*

Irene slammed her staff onto the ground, causing a massive array of seals to spread across the land.

Universe One, also known as World Reconstruction, allowed her to enchant the earth and mold it to her whims.

Massive earth spikes shot out of the ground, puncturing demons at every turn.

On the other side, Menma and Diablo exchanged hundreds of moves between each other.

The two sides opened up some distance due to the rebound wave before preparing for the next round of heavy blows.

"The Demon King level is truly extraordinary... it's completely different from the waste demons I fought with before..." Menma thought to himself.

Menma fell from mid-air and stared at the flame demon towering above him.

"The poisonous claw did not have an effect. Was it because the attack was blocked by the flames and did not land on his body? Or is it that the flame has a healing and restorative effect on him." Menma wondered.

Diablo burst out with flames on either side of him, causing the ground around him to melt.

After a while, Diablo spoke in a deep voice.

"You are pretty good, Demon Fox!"

Hearing this, the corners of Menma's mouth turned up as he dodged.

"What's with the compliment. You wouldn't want to give up fighting, would you?" Menma asked with a laugh.

The other party's words were like a knife inserted into Diablo's pride, and he was so provoked that he roared.

"Roar~~~! I am the Demon King of Fire. How can I escape from today's battle!"

Menma smirked.

"Hahaha, you're not bad, but unfortunately, I still want to kill you!"

Menma laughed maniacally, feeling trickling these demons from running was too easy.

He quickly ran towards Diablo, sending off a Spiralling Ring from his right hand towards him.

Diablo dodged before he brought both hands together, and with the roaring flames on his body, a violent, brilliant whip of flame shot toward Menma.

Menma's tried to dodge but got sent flying back.

"Menma!"

Irene subconsciously shouted.

Menma was pushed into the air and crashed through several houses.

This time, it seemed that Diablo had the upper hand, but his own heart was still shocked.

"Is this guy crazy? Why didn't he dodge?" Diablo thought to himself.

Even if he had the power of a demon, he wouldn't be able to take that attack head-on.

Suddenly, he turned around, seeing the attack he had dodged change shape with a puff of smoke into Menma with a sphere of black raging energy surrounded by a white ring on his finger.

Irene glanced over at the Menma that had slammed into the building only to find it slowly turning into wood.

"For a Demon, you did pretty well... But you still need to learn more about the malice of human beings... So long, Diablo!" Menma said before releasing and sending the orb towards Diablo.

Great Spiralling Ring!

Diablo had no time to dodge and tried to quickly put up his arms, but upon impact with the orb, he found it useless.

The flames on his body raged as he tried to resist the impact, but the orb started to shrink.

"DAMN HUMAN!!" Diablo's eyes shrank as he yelled out, trying to stop it from shrinking but couldn't.

Menma backed away before grabbing Irene and running a safe distance away.

Soon, the orb collapsed on itself before releasing a torrent of energy, erasing everything in sight.

Diablo felt his body crumbling but could do nothing to stop it.

He turned towards Menma, who was watching, full of unwillingness.

"To think I'd be defeated by a measly human...."

And that was his last thought...
