Capítulo 29: Good grief

"Damn…" Heaven hissed, checking her cracked lip in the mall's restroom. The woman's slap hurt. She must have put all her strength into that one slap.

'The last time someone tried to touch me, Bear cut his hand off,' she thought, touching her slightly swollen cheek.

This body wasn't used to pain. If not for the soul's strong mentality and experience, her cheek would swell much worse. After all, that slap originated from anger after Heaven provoked that woman.

"But well, at least, I got myself out of that situation." Heaven dropped her hand, staring at the wide mirror before her. "That woman really makes me angry — why is this Heaven a magnet to people like them?"

She frowned, thinking about all the people surrounding Heaven. First, Paula Shen and then that woman. Although that other woman she encountered in the bakeshop doesn't have any connections with Heaven, that woman would be if what she kept gloating about was true.

"Just what is he thinking?" she wondered, pondering what was going on in Dominic's head for him to give such a generous offer to the family of that kid who was bullying his son. Her frown deepened, recalling what the women were talking about.

[I heard the young master Zhu doesn't have a mother to take care of him. Knowing how busy CEO Zhu was, I'm certain he couldn't focus on the child.]

Heaven had a lot of arguments to shut down those remarks, but somewhere inside, she felt bad for Heaven's son. Five years. For five years, Heaven didn't meddle with her son's affair even when the young master Sebastian Zhu entered school. She didn't even know what her son's school was or where it was; what were his favorites, hobbies, and anything.

The current Heaven could look into her memories to know a person or recall an event. But everything about her son was almost blank. It only proved how Heaven didn't even try to know anything about the child she had given birth to.

What a cruel mother.

'You are sincerely cruel, Heaven.' She gazed at the mirror, staring at herself in dismay. 'You don't even know your actions don't only hurt your son. But it gives others the opportunity to hurt him as well.'

Her expression turned bitter as her hand balled into a tight fist. "Weren't you once a child as well, Heaven? A child without a mother? How can you make your own son experience what you went through?"

This was something the current Heaven wouldn't understand, even with all the memories in her. She could never understand and all the justification of the original Heaven had only disgusted her. No matter what angles the current soul looked, there was no justification for why an innocent boy deserved to be treated the way she did.

'Whatever.' Heaven shook her head and closed her eyes. 'She's dead. She can't love her son, but…'

Heaven slowly reopened her eyes and looked at herself in the mirror. 'But for sure, I won't be as cruel as you.'

She looked at herself in the mirror, convincing herself not to wallow in the original Heaven's previous actions. There was no need to dwell in the past, nor she could change what happened in the past. With her in this body, she has a chance to change what the future holds if only she does her best in the present.

With that thought in mind, Heaven picked up the paper bags containing the bread she bought for everyone in the mansion. She didn't idle in the restroom, walking her way out as if her slightly swollen cheek didn't matter. When she reached outside, Heaven suddenly stopped.

She gazed at the incoming cars and taxis, cocking her head to the side. "Fuck you, Heaven," a curse suddenly slipped past her lips.

"How in the world… you don't know how to go home?" Heaven gasped in horror, rummaging through her memories, but to no avail.

Even though the original Heaven lived in that mansion for five years, she never went out on her own. The only time she would leave the house was when she had to attend the Zhu family gathering once a year. And even that it didn't help her!

Heaven never once commuted from outside to their house; she wasn't even interested in leaving her room! Does this even make sense?!

"Shit!" Heaven held her head as it throbbed. "How is this possible? Now I know why it feels like a prison for you. You don't know a damn thing where the fuck you are! Ugh!!!"

Some people outside the mall jolted as Heaven screamed in irritation. They all looked at the woman, cursing and in distress. Others distance themselves while some immediately hailed a cab.

"How am I going home now?" she wondered. "If only I knew, I wouldn't have walked out on Paula."

Heaven bit her lips, reluctant to call Paula to ask her a favor. That would hurt her pride. Moreover, she needed time off from Paula since Heaven would be busy fixing her crumbling life.

'Damn it!' she gazed down at her purse, fishing her phone out irritably. She scrolled through her contact, having only a few names in it. "Should I bother my husband? Wouldn't he get angry?"

Heaven mulled over whether to call Dominic for help or find other ways to do it. "But he did offer to send someone to drive me home — damn! I shouldn't have turned him down!" She ground her teeth in irritation, it seemed that she was now having a headache.

While Heaven was fumbling about whether to call her husband, a red sports car suddenly pulled over before her. The window wound down, revealing a dashing man bending down to look at her.

"What are you doing there?" he asked, catching Heaven's attention. "Do you know you look dumb right now?"

Heaven turned her head to see the person, and her entire face twitched. "Axel."

"Heh. Need a ride?" he smirked mischievously. "Though I can't promise to slow down."

Heaven studied her brother-in-law's face, getting the hint of his remarks. The last time Axel drove her home traumatized her, but fortunately, the Heaven right now was never afraid of such things.

"You… are a lifesaver!" Heaven grinned, jumping inside the car without a second hesitation. Her willingness and enthusiasm made Axel flinch, looking at her as she buckled herself. "Good grief. I thought I would need to walk home."

Heaven faced Axel. "Let's go. Oh, want some bread? I bought a lot of it." She offered.

Axel blinked several times, staring at the enthusiastic woman in the car. For a moment, even if he was looking at her, he couldn't help but question what his eyes were seeing. Did this woman jump inside the car, knowing full well what he was planning to do?

"What?" Heaven cocked her head to the side. "You don't want to? It's alright. You can have it later."

"Don't regret ever sitting in that seat."

"Haha. Don't worry. I promise you, I won't." Heaven winked, waving her hand as if to tell him to start the car. "Go, go. Let me tag along with you for a while. You can drop me off at the house later. No rush!"
