Capítulo 71: Friends?

Aylin's hands gripped her gown as she walked behind Kian into the mansion. Her steps were slow and her mind reeled with different thoughts. She wondered what would have happened if Kian hadn't arrived in time. Would she have died? Just like that? 

Aylin knew it was very easy to die but she'd never had any near-death experiences and having two attempts on her life in one night was something utterly overwhelming. As they entered the mansion, the silence between Aylin and Kian felt heavy, carrying the weight of their unspoken emotions.

Kian's usually composed demeanor seemed to have cracked, replaced by an air of annoyance. Aylin could tell that there was something wrong and she wasn't sure if it was only about the shapeshifter or something else. 

She was suddenly curious about what he left the hall for in her absence. Her anger from earlier had disappeared, but her gratitude for his timely intervention hadn't.
