"What are we eating?"
"Bacon and eggs." She didn't see his face, but she could tell he was smiling. "What else would you like, ma? Do you have a headache or pains anywhere?"
"I used the drug on the table. Thank you." She mumbled, picking up some of the food on her plate.
"You're welcome. It's the least I can do for Mia."
She smiled.
"Do you know that Mia can remove her face cap? There is no reason for Mia to wear it inside the house."
She frowned. Why did he keep calling her by her name? Is it some kind of joke? Ignoring his joke, she answered him. "I'm okay with the cap."
Mia felt his presence beside her before seeing his feet. She had barely eaten a lot as she tried to avoid looking him in the eyes. Suddenly, her hair felt free again, as Declan removed the cap from her head. "Now, that's better. Don't you think it's better?"
She mumbled and nodded. "It is better."
