Capítulo 23: Chapter 6

By the time I stepped back into the bedroom, I had already decided to take David's advice and sneak out. Mason was being unreasonable. I had no intention to do anything stupid, I was playing catch up. I've seen the world through other people's eyes. I was ready to see it on my own.

Slowly I slipped out of my joggers, t-shirt, and looked in the wardrobe at the summer dresses that I had bought on my birthday. They were collecting dust. I picked up a light short-sleeved flowy green dress. We were going to a club, I wanted to have a good time without having to worry about straps slipping off my shoulder, or tugging on the dress to keep it from riding up.

Once I was done, I opened the door that led to the veranda and slipped into the garden, letting the cool night breeze brush against my skin.

I was jumping out of my skin, looking forward to my first night out. Things were going well, I had made friends, and I was finally ready to live my life.

When the car pulled over on the curb I climbed in as fast as I could " Go," I hurriedly said, while the boy in the driver's seat just nodded, and did as he was told.

I heaved out a sigh of relief when the mansion faded in the distance and relaxed. I was a ball of nerves up until that point. Going against Mason's word, wasn't easy. I hoped that I wouldn't get caught.

" Hi Lily," David turned around in his seat to look at me " This is Jude. The boy next to Laira is Henry," He made the introductions while I leaned forwards to glance at the boy that sat next to Laira.

" Hi," I waved and smiled while the boy grinned, tipping his chin at me and did the same.

" So, you sneaked out," David chuckled, finding amusing the fact that I sidestepped Mason" I didn't think that anyone could skive past Mason. My father says that he is a very astute man. Always a few steps ahead of everyone. " David added with a frown.

I shrugged" Maybe he is when he does business" I casually replied, a sliver of angst creeping into my heart. I had no idea what would happen if I got caught red-handed again. Going against his word, it was no small thing.

" Maybe," David mumbled and turned in his seat to look ahead.

I glanced at Laira who slouched in her seat, with her hands between her knees, downcast. She was shy, and so was I, but something had changed in me once I moved to Morston.

When we pulled in front of the club, I looked up to see If I can spot the name of the club but there was none. Jude stepped out of the car, and I was surprised to see that he was wearing a suit, with shoes to match. I looked down at my dress and wondered if I misjudged where we were going.

" We have to go through the back," Jude poked his head inside the car, while Henry stepped out of the car wearing the same attire as Jude. I frowned and glanced at David who was wearing, jeans and a t-shirt, while Laira wore just the same.

We followed Jude through the dark alley that led to the back entrance. Maybe Mason had guessed right, and indeed the club was Osyth.

When we finally reached the back entrance we were greeted by a mountain of a man guarding the bloody door. He quickly glanced at us " You can go but at the upper levels out of sight, not on the main floor." The man said, in a baritone voice and I was instantly frightened and intrigued at the same time.

"Them, I get it that they have to stay out of sight" Jude waved at us, clearly we were not dressed for the occasion " But what about us two?" Jude thumbed at him and Henry, the only ones wearing a suit.

" You two can go to the main floor. They have to stay out of sight and watch" The man replied and opened the door but didn't let us pass until Jude nodded in agreement.

And with that, we took the stairs that led to the upper level of the club, where the music played, but not as loud as I expected and the lighting was quite dim. Didn't expect that either.

When we reached the upper level of the club, there were sofas against the wall, with tables in between them. Jude and Henry scampered away giggling like two children while I, Laira, and David kinda slumped on the first sofa that we came across. That wasn't what I had in mind when I was invited to go to a club. I couldn't see much, but I could see girls walking on the main floor, some carried trays, and some elegantly swayed their hips to the music.

My curiosity peaked so I pushed myself off the sofa and approached the railing. Leaning against it, I looked down at the men sprawled on the sofas surrounded by women who touched them everywhere, kissing, and griding. It didn't take long to realise that the club was a gentleman's club. I sighed, disappointed with how the night was going. We weren't allowed on the main floor, Jude and Henry had abandoned us, and the girls that walked around with the drinks trays didn't come up.

" I'm sorry," David sobered me up and I glanced at him, smiling. I wasn't, it was an experience that I got live and see and that was thanks to him.

" I'm not," I mumbled and narrowed my eyes when a heap of mousy blond hair came into my view. I panicked and prayed that my eyes were deceiving me.

When the woman that was kissing the man with the mousy blonde hair shifted again, my blood froze and my heart dropped into my stomach. It was none other than Mason, sprawled on a sofa, getting down and dirty with the woman.

" Shit," I spat out and David looked at me puzzled and followed my line of sight and cursed.

Mason looked up and locked eyes with me while the woman in his lap kissed his neck and caressed his chest, hands all over him.

My breath hitched when he lifted the woman on his lap and stood up, worried that he might come up and drag me home. At that point, I didn't mind it if he did. I knew he was a flounderer, and that many women warmed up his bed, but for some reason seeing it, tore me.

Mason reached his hand, helping the woman who demurely smiled at him as she stood, and hooked her arm into his and made their way to some other part of the club, out of sight.

" Well, " David laughed awkwardly " I've never seen Mason in action but he is smooth like butter," David hummed appreciatively, nodding. I could feel my eyes prick, the floodgates were collapsing. I let out a shaky breath and blinked my tears away. That was reality calling me to tell me that all the fantasies that I had of Mason, were just in my head. There was no hidden meaning behind his gestures, I was delusional. I took a deep breath and turned to David.

" I would like to go home if that's alright," I sort of mustered a smile.

" I do not drive, nor does Laira. We have to wait for Jude or Henry to take us home" David said with a frazzled smile with his eyes on the women on the main floor.
