Capítulo 1: chapter 1

Diagon Alley, London, 1973
'The time for my first appearance in the wizarding word has come' though a young boy as he walked with his mother the streets of the famous wizarding alley.
All things were magical and wondrous here differently from the monotonous and boring muggle word.
Gilderoy knew that this would be his big stage, only this magical place is worth his time and presence.
"Now we only need to buy your school books" said Mrs. Lockhart as she looked at her precious son.
Hearing her words Gilderoy smiled, as he caressed his new wand.
Nine inches, made of cherry wood with a dragon heartstring core. It was beautiful and from what Ollivander said when cherry wood is paired with a dragon heartstring it ought to never be teamed with a wizard without exceptional self-control and strength of mind.
Gilderoy was sure this wand was made exactly for him, it was like a calling, and the moment Ollivander took it out he was sure that wand would have chosen him.
Beautiful and lethal, perfect for a future adventurer who seek fame and glory.
Yes, the little kid already knew what he wanted from his life.
His mother was a teacher of DADA at Hogwarts, but before that she had been an adventurer and told Gilderoy and his sisters many of her stories.
When he first saw the book his mother wrote and found out that it was a best seller in the wizarding word he was excited at the prospect and decided that he wanted to pursue the same path and surpass his mother like a son ought to do.
His mother had been ecstatic when she heard about his dream and had been supporting his ambitions to the best of her capabilities.
Unfortunately, as a kid he had no chance to already practice magic so he decided to learn how to write, by reading the masterpieces of famous writers.
He soon realized that the wizarding world lacked the skills of muggles when it came to writing books, so he decided to take the famous muggle writers as inspirations, rather than the wizards.
His mission will be to start a new literary movement in the wizarding word, bringing it on par with the muggle word.
It was an ambitious project, but neither him nor his mother ever doubted he would not succeed.
"Yes. You don't mind if I take some more books outside of the curriculum, right?" he had already given up on finding a good narrative book, but he was still interested in buying books about magic, after all a single book only contains the view of one author on a certain subjects and if he wants to be the best he can't just follow the normal curriculum.
"Certainly, my little genius" replied the mother with a proud smile on her face.
They soon entered Flourish and Blotts, that like all the others places lacked a great design, but gave of that magical feeling that made up for it.
"It's a pleasure to see you here Mrs. Elizabeth" said the owner of the store as he greeted the mother.
"Mr. Flourish, I see you are still as much of a bookworm as you were years ago" said Mrs. Lockhart as she looked at the middle aged man, who was immersed in a pile of books.
"It runs in my blood after all. Is that your son, he got your beauty?" replied Mr. Flourish, while laughing.
"He also got my talent and passion. In fact, he'll probably be your next best seller" Affirmed the mother as she caressed lovingly her son head.
"I can't wait for it, there is truly a need for something new. Wizards tend to prefer old and decaying books, yours was one of the few exceptions Elizabeth." Criticized the middle-aged man.
Flourish and Blotts was in no way in need for money, after all thanks to its long fame it was the store where all Hogwarts's students and many wizard went to find books.
Wizard economy is quite stagnant as tradition is held above everything and new stores are not seen in a positive light.
Having this said Mr. flourish wouldn't say no to some more money and he too yearned for some new interesting books.
"I'll be sure to have a whole shelf dedicated to your book in the future" said the man as he lowered himself to the eye level of the little boy.
"You'll need an entire wall to meet the demand" boasted Gilderoy with a smirk.
"He certainly got your character and charisma too Elizabeth, I'm sure he'll be a great wizard and writer" Flourish laughed as he said this, and the boy was happy to see others recognize his geniality.
"Ok, now go and look for some books you like, while I buy the book you'll need for school" the boy soon run toward the many libraries excited like a kid who entered a candy shop.
The book shop was expanded thanks to spatial charms and once you entered in it, it became similar to a labyrinth made of books.
Luckily there were many signs that helped people find their way in this paradise of scholars.
The boy wandered from section to section buying at least one extra book about every subject he will find in Hogwarts, luckily there were carrels and stairs that allowed even small kids like him to get books without a problem.
Soon his attention was caught by a particular section, it wasn't a Hogwarts subject, but it was a very interesting and underestimated branch of magic.
Mind arts.
The most known applications of this type of magic are legilimency and occlumency, but there are many more application that are very useful.
The reason that it isn't a Hogwarts' subject it's that legilimency is a dangerous power in the hand of students, while occlumency is already taught to noble children before going to Hogwarts and the others applications usually takes a decade to be trained.
An example is Ollivander, who rather than getting more forgetful as he grows older, he just keeps becoming more quick-witted.
Gilderoy is also quite sure his son is undergoing a similar training since the older wizard is about to retire and leave the store to him.
Unfortunately, Gilderoy only learned a little of occlumency from his mother as the mind arts are one of the few subjects that are possible to learn without a wand.
Even this proceeded slowly as it requires the presence of legilimens to advance quickly and it is said to be a very painful process.
While the little occlumency he learned didn't amount to much, it was still enough to make it clear that Gilderoy had a talent for this and if there is a thing that the boy liked, it is doing something in which he is talented, as it allowed him to show off.
So, without further delay he entered the section, which was small compared to the others, and the books there looked even older than the ones from other sections.
Since legilimency became monitored by the ministry the interest in mind arts faded and this explain why the section only contains a few old tomes.
In fact, Gilderoy also realized there weren't books about legilimency, and this probably meant that selling this kind of books is illegal and probably only a few members of the ministry are allowed to use this particular ability.
Obviously, wizards from noble families probably have books about legilimency in their private library, but the kid didn't like to think about this a lot.
He was irritated by the knowledge that there were people who had more possibilities than him.
Gilderoy considered himself as a handsome and talented individual, but there were people out there who considered themselves more noble than him, just because of their surname.
"I'll show them who is truly superior" muttered Gilderoy as he looked for an interesting book.
He thought that maybe he could find some peculiar book or a book about legilimency, but it seems that the owners had been through in taking them out.
Soon he realized that it was time to go, but his eyes caught sight of a strange sight.
This library was constantly cleaned by spells and house elves, so all the books are in good condition, or at least they are well cleaned, but in front of Gilderoy stood an old book full of dust.
The dust certainly didn't make the boy particularly enthusiastic at the prospect of taking it in his hands, but the curiosity for the strange book was bigger than his disgust for its conditions.
So without further ado Gilderoy took the book and blew on it to clean some of the dust, just enough to read the words on the cover.
"A book for great minds" he read and the title immediately attracted him and satisfied his need for praises.
"Gilderoy we need to go now!" shouted Mrs. Elizabeth from the counter on the other side of the store.
He then decided to give the book a chance and placed it in the carrell together with the other books.
When he reached the counter he saw that his mother was waiting for him with a smile.
"did you find some interesting books?" she asked him and the little boy nodded with a smile.
Mr. flourish then used his wand and without saying an incantation he was able to raise the books in the air and brought them on the counter.
"You made excellent choices little man. Since you are Elizabeth kid and a future writer, I'll be sure to give you a discount" said Mr. Flourish, but for the first time the boy wasn't paying attention to someone praising him, as he was too focused on looking at the carrel intensively.
For everyone else the boy was looking at an empty carrel, but for Gilderoy the carrel wasn't empty as there was still one dusty book in it.
It was the same book the boy found in the library, but no one else seemed to notice its existence.
Gilderoy was too proud to even think he had become crazy and too shrewd to tell Mr. Flourish about his error, moreover he was quite sure it wasn't a mistake, the others just couldn't see it.
'Well, the book did say that it was only for great minds' thought the little boy, smiling at the realization that his mind was superior to even adults.
Today he got another proof of his genius and obviously he was going to steal the book as it is clear that it is fated for him.
(Here you have it, the first chapter of this new journey.
