Capítulo 144: I Love You

The rest of the journey was full of glass shards. Mary did not look back at him but kept staring out of the window. 

His grim eyes stared at a distance, waiting for the suffocating feeling to end but the disappointment in her eyes was piercing him and making him bleed.

When the carriage finally stopped and the footmen opened the door, Mary did not wait for him to extend his hands and help her.

She walked away from the carriage with hurried steps. He gritted his teeth when she did not care about her injuries. Was his presence so unbearable for her?

The maids were confused when Mary returned in a disheveled state. Her gown was a mess. They gasped and closed the door immediately. 

"What happened to you?" Daisy, who had just arrived there an hour ago, was the first to walk to her.

Her eyes filled with anxiety as she saw red stains on her clothes.
