Capítulo 7: An Oracle Or A Spy?
Though she had read about the palace, it was still a completely different experience to see it from her own eyes.
Grandiose was a small word in comparison. But lavish was not 秃头even supporting it too. It was far more large and grand than the biggest resort in her city. But what made it special was.. It was not artificial.
The lake was real and so was the garden. The palace gave an aesthetic look to her eyes even when she had seen all kinds of palaces and hotels.
But she was not intimidated by the place but stared at everything brazenly and even praised the fountain in the garden startling the maids and knights when the knight pulled her inside.
"You should not be speaking this much." he warned her when she blinked and looked at him in confusion.
Her reactions baffled him.
"Because you are a commoner?" He reminded her of the obvious but she still did not seem to connect to the fact when he gritted his teeth.
He had never met such an oblivious commoner before. She talks as if she was a royal!
As they walked in, he paused in front of a black door that had the mark of an eagle and whispered a few words to the guard, standing at the door. He stared at Mary with a strange look and then nodded and went inside the room.
After a few minutes, he came back and opened the door for the girl.
"Go in! But remember to behave." the knight warned her when she rolled her eyes at his exaggerated actions.
As she walked in, she smiled and stared at the man sitting on the chair. His dark hair was covering his forehead but she could still imagine his golden eyes. His fair skin was even better than her as if age and weather could not touch him.
His chiseled jaw and strong collarbone were enough to kill any woman. Why in the world the first three buttons of his shirt were open! Was he there to seduce every existing woman?
His chest looked so firm and the veins on his wrist! His arms were strong and dependable.. She could not help but salivate looking at him.
Cassian raised his head when he did not hear a greeting even when he could sense her staring at him. But what met him was a woman who was staring at him as if she was a dog and he was a bone.
He raised a brow. His face was intimidating and was able to create fear even in knights. He was sure that the woman would cower but she just.. Grinned??!!
She was grinning like a fool and staring at him as she licked her lips. For the first time in his life, someone made him feel uncomfortable.
"Hello, duke!"
"..."
"I wanted to meet you regarding the case of the child you were looking for!" When he kept staring at her without saying a word, she smiled and took the initiative to sit. She knew that her body looked beautiful but she had read that the villain was not interested in any woman. Why in the world was he staring at her so much?
"The child I am looking for?" his head snapped towards the man standing behind him immediately but even his aide had a shocked and blank face like him.
"Yes! Yes, your wife and her child. You were looking for both of them, right? It's sad news that she died but your child is still alive and I have found him in the orphanage. I am here to return him back to you and claim the reward." she said with a bright and cunning smile. Her face did not have innocence at all but the slyness of a fox his eyes narrowed.
"But I have never issued a reward!"
"...." she blinked and stared at him as if he was speaking an alien language that she could not understand.
She was sure that he had issued the reward after losing all hopes of searching for her himself.
"Ten million gold coins. I am sure that was the reward issued in chapter nine when you did not find her even on the boundary of the Nyrfyre empire where her hometown was! You were desperate and knew that she had not died since the oracle had told you that your son would take your place in a decade." she repeated it with a frown making his face dark and red when she waved her hands in front of him.
"Do you have amnesia? But if that would have been the case, I would have known about it." she shook her head with such surety that Cassian and Kevin exchanged their glances.
"And why in the world would you have known if I would have been suffering from amnesia?" he could not help but ask while Kevin was sure that she was a spy. Even the personal guards of his highness turned alert and stared at her with keen eyes.
"I think it would be better that we arrest her and interrogate her. She knew too much to be left." Kevin muttered in a cold voice when Cassian tilted his head and nodded.
"Yes, prepare the underground prison. I will personally interrogate her."
"Wait.. what in the world are you talking about? I have brought your son for the reward. Why would I go to prison?" she asked aghast as she looked at both of them as if they were fools.
"Kevin, you fool! If you put me in prison, you will die single since only I know where you will find your true love." she spat as she glared at him, pausing him successfully.
"Who in the world are you?" he asked after coming back to his senses but he still looked a bit intimidated by her previous threat when she smirked.
"I am an oracle myself."
