I look at the katana in my hand and swing it for a few seconds. I nod and say.
"This is a great weapon."
"Of course."
I look at Yasaka, who smiles at me.
"Mikazuki Munechika, a legendary sword that shines under the moonlight. Inari-sama blesses this sword and ensures it will always be sharp, never rust and deal massive damage to unholy creatures like devils, oni, and vampires."
"Are you sure you are willing to give me this sword? It sounds like an important sword."
"And this is the only thing I can think of to pay for your service and the Sacred Gear you give us. Blade Blacksmith is a powerful Sacred Gear. It can make the same weapon with ease, you know? I still think that this is an unfair trade for you. Because of that, here."
Yasaka gives me a black card.
"This is?"
"This special debit card can be used in Moonlight Sword and the Mundane World. There are a billion Yen inside that card."
"A billion yen?!"
"Yes, and I still think that it is not enough. Tell me what you want, and I will ensure you get them."
"No. I think this is already enough for me to last a lifetime."
"Are you sure? I can ask the elder to give you more."
"Nah. I'm good. Anyway, where can I use this card? I mean, can I use them in other countries, or can I only use them in Japan?"
"Don't worry. You can use them anywhere else you go."
"I see. That's good."
I put the sword away and said.
"So, can I ask who you give the Sacred Gear to?"
"Hmmm? I will give it to my right-hand man. He is currently training with the sword, and I know he will do great with it."
"That's good."
"So, what do you want to do now, Jordan? Yesterday you said you wanted to explore the magical world, right?"
"That's right. I want to ask you about it, but yesterday you were too busy with paperwork, so I decided not to do it."
"I hope you ask me about it so I can get out of the paperwork. Anyway, where do you want to start? I have a couple of destinations in mind for you."
"Oh? Tell me."
"Well, you can visit the Wizarding World if you want to return to the 18th-century era."
"Wizarding World? Wand waving one?"
Like the one in the Harry Potter world? Does that mean this is a Harry Potter world? However, the timeline is wrong. Or do I appear in the future of the Harry Potter world? I need to see it for myself.
"That's right. The only restriction is that they don't tell them there is another magical world other than them."
"Huh? Why? Did they not know about it?"
"The higher-up knew, but the other did not. The last group of people who know about this part of the world demand that we obey their government and threaten us with war. Let's just say that it did not go according to their plan. They have versatile magic but not enough firepower to beat even a mid-tier creature. Even their so-called killing curse is useless against someone with magical resistance."
"I see. Please tell me that there is no bigot in there. I don't want to meet someone with noble blood, which makes me mad enough to kill them."
Yasaka looks at me with an apologetic expression.
"I'm sorry, but there are many of them in that part of the world. Their so-called noble family has bamboo stuck deep inside their rectum."
"How deep are we talking about? If it's only a few centimeters, I don't mind."
"A couple of hundred meters deep."
"Damn. Oh, well. I'm curious enough to meet them. I guess I can handle a couple of insults and ignore the rest."
"If you are that curious about them, have you not visited the wizarding world in America?"
"Not really. I'm too far away from that place and have never visited one of their villages or towns."
"I see. If you want to visit them, you can take that card and go to the local Gringotts Bank and the Green Leaf Bank.."
"Gringotts… Isn't that the bank in Mainland Europe?"
"Not really. They originate from Britain but spread worldwide. They are Goblins, a pest in the past, but after their king came to the Greek, Celtic, and Norse Pantheon begging for them and the rest of the people stop hunting them, they start to change. In return, they will only stay in the Wizarding World, give an annual report about them, and inform the three pantheons if they are going overboard."
"But why? Watching an entire group of wizards is not really a good offer, right?"
"And that is where you are wrong, Jordan. A lot of them think highly of themselves. Some of them think they are gods, and a couple even shouts that they are more powerful than the Chief Gods. You can see the problem."
"The gods feel insulted and smite them?"
"That is the short explanation, but the long one is that they get tortured for eternity. Let me tell you some secret, Jordan."
I blink for a second when I see Yasaka's serious expression. This is the second time I have seen this kind of expression. The first one is when she fights the Hero Faction.
"The kindest of gods can become the most petty being in the world. Treat them with respect if you can. I know some of the gods are not good, but at least give them a small bit of respect even when you hate them. I don't want you to attract their wrath. Some of them are bitter that they are losing their power from lack of worship."
"Got it."
She smiles at me and nods.
"Good."
"Anyway, back to the goblin. I'm still confused. Are they really only offering the three pantheon information? There must be something more, right?"
She gives me a small smile and says,
"And you are correct. This is not common knowledge. In exchange for their life, the goblin will slowly introduce spells, rituals, and the like that make sure the wizards and witches invoke their name. It is not as good as worship, but it still slowly gives them power."
"I see. Power. That is the real reason."
"Yup. Also, survivability. Low-level gods or goddesses will disappear when they do not have enough worshipers or people invoking their names. Why do you think there are a lot of movies involving some kind of God's name? The Chief and stronger gods will not die from the lack of worshipers but will grow weak."
"At least they will not die, right?"
"Hah! Some of them think power is more important than their survivability. Life without power is the same as being dead."
Egotistical shit. Oh, well. I guess I can understand that. When you have power all your life and suddenly fall to the bottom? Many people decide to commit suicide rather than live that kind of life.
"Fair enough."
"So! When are you going to visit them? I hope it is not right now or tomorrow because you promised Kunou that you would take the two of us to the Nikishi Market and explore the outskirts of Kyoto!"
"It is not a promise… more like forcing me."
The duo of nine-tailed foxes decides to give me their trademark doe eyes. Complete with a fake tear.
"What?~ Are you not excited to take me on a date?~"
Yasaka pushes her body into mine, and I feel her warm breath on my neck. This vixen is really pushing my limits.
"You know, you really should stop that. I don't think I can hold myself back."
She gives me a wide grin, nibbles on my neck, and walks away from me, with her butt swaying from left and right. She turns her head and says.
"What if I don't want you to hold back?~ My bedroom is free, you know?~ Fufufufu~"
