Capítulo 150: The Art is Overrated

Everyone stared at the Masterball lying silently on the cave floor next to an unconscious Gaara.

When I saw the statue, I just thought it would be funny to use it to interrupt Nagato's speech, well, in this case, Pain for the audience.

So when the statue actually went into the Masterball, my first thought was:

"I have to give Mariko a raise! Maybe a paid vacation package or something like a bonus, what a great job!"

I mean...

How many overlapping seals did the surviving Uzumaki add to that thing to successfully trap the Gedo Mazo?!

From what little I know about seals, I'm sure it's MANY more than twenty!

(Later, Enel discovered that Mariko misunderstood and added two zeros to the number of layers of the Masterball, turning it into the most mind-blowing physical sealing tool in history formed by human hands. Its name changed from Masterball to the Dark Sphere of the Eternal Demonic Prison.)

Deidara was obviously disoriented by what happened, but he seems to understand that I somehow trapped the statue in the Masterball because the first thing he did when he came to wasn't to go after Gaara.

Too bad he wasn't the first to regain consciousness, and Temari was already a step ahead, using her ability to launch whistling wind blades from her nails to establish a wall of cutting attacks between her younger brother and Deidara.

"Tch!" Deidara was forced to jump back and pulled out... an owl?

I have no idea what bird it is (too ugly), but the point is, he pulled out a clay bird and hopped on its back to gain altitude.

"It will be the first time I use my art in such a confined space. I'm sure the explosions will have a new enlightening touch, mmm," he nodded to himself as he reached into the clay pouch at his waist.

Doesn't he care about Gaara's life? And I doubt it's true that he never used explosives in enclosed areas... presumptuous.

Oh, sure, if he kills Gaara, they just have to capture the wild Shukaku, and I doubt it will be discreet when it reappears.

"Gaara!"

Well, I don't think he'll join the fight given how he's protecting his younger brother. Touching.

"Temari, you take care of Gaara, and..." I told her and paused for a moment, carefully considering the next words I wanted to say.

"Is he still breathing?" Kimimaro asked, curious about what happens to the jinchuriki if the biju is extracted.

Well, I don't need to ask that anymore. His electrical signal is quite erratic, and I'm not sure if he's dying or if it's just the result of interrupting the extraction.

"Yes, he is!" Temari yelled with the vein on her forehead bulging.

"What a bad temper. I said it with good intentions," Kimimaro muttered without lowering his voice much, causing another vein to bulge on Temari's forehead.

"Oi!"

"Shut up, one-armed man!" Temari shouted at the Akatsuki member.

Deidara was flabbergasted.

Can't we have some mutual respect for the enemies, please?

And you're the one who made me lose my arm! Rude woman! Noisy!

I condemn you to be ignored by men! Mmm!

"I think I'd better help the Kazekage take care of Gaara," Maki stepped onto the stage to calm things down and approached Temari to support the other side of Gaara, managing to get him out of the cave with measured steps.

"I should have thrown a dozen C3 in that village. One fell short apparently," I heard Deidara muttering with an offended tone.

"So... do you want him all to yourself, Kimimaro?" I asked while tilting my head to one side. Most of the time, he likes to "hunt" alone, imitating his sensei.

"I don't like flying enemies," he protested with a very unusual pout for him, clearly dissatisfied with not finding more close-quarters combatants. "Too much effort for very little gratification."

"Can't you just attract them to you and stab them with a bone?"

"Then it's too easy and not worth it..."

Boom!

An explosion where we were just a moment ago interrupts our conversation, and we both turn to look at a Deidara with a red face, sensing, I would say, that he's a bit upset.

"Don't you think it's too much to talk as if I'm not present?" he shouted at us while his only hand continued kneading explosive clay with that strange mouth.

Wait, so do his explosives have saliva shrapnel included too? Yuck.

"Don't ignore my art!"

"The art is overrated," Kimimaro said dryly.

I can almost see how Deidara symbolically petrifies at his sentence, even the flutter of his clay bird fails for a second, and it almost falls.

"You... Blasphemy!" he shouted at us, getting redder by the second. He seems totally unable to finish the sentence. "Unacceptable!"

"Then show me your artist certificate."

Deidara: ???

"Oh, so you're actually just an amateur with no credentials and dare to talk about art," Kimimaro glanced at him with disdain. "Heh, how sad you are."

I can see a vein bursting on Deidara's neck.

Seriously, it burst, and a mini fountain of blood spurts out, leaving the Akatsuki cloak splattered with red. But of course, the black helps hide the blood...

"It's over!" Deidara takes out the remaining explosive clay and breaks the Akatsuki cloak, exposing a fourth mouth on his chest that opens and starts eating the clay in big bites. "I can't allow you to roam the world with those words. I was saving this for someone special, but it seems I'll have to show you the ultimate true art!"

Hmm, that sounds familiar, isn't it the C0 he used to try to kill Sasuke?

And I emphasize the "try" part. I think he survived by using a summoning or something.

"Are you crazy?" I shouted dramatically. "You'll kill us all!"

"That's the plan!" Deidara responds as he laughs maniacally.

"Is it really that dangerous?" Kimimaro straightens up and asks me.

"No, I just wanted to say that phrase at least once," I admitted as I raised my hand and released a strong electric discharge that canceled the formation of the C0 bomb halfway.

I left Deidara dead with an expression of incomprehension, looking at his now-empty chest, as if wondering why it didn't explode despite all his preparations.

Making his explosive clay neutralizable with electricity was a HUGE vulnerability that he should have addressed years ago, as simple as that.
