"I caught it!" I proclaimed happily as I picked up the Pokéball, minimized it, and stored the Masterball I had prepared to throw.
I suspected that maybe I could only catch White Zetsu when it was hit, and Black Zetsu would separate to escape. However, hitting the part of Black Zetsu seemed to count as successfully catching both.
As for the supposed Pokéball, it's actually inspired by what Chiyo used to try to seal Sasori. I just gave it a more... ergonomic look. I handled the technological part, and Mariko finished the sealing part, which apparently wasn't easy due to the limited surface to work on.
She used miniature brushes and a magnifying glass!
Not to mention that the Masterball has like twenty more layers of seals, requiring special tools and a microscope.
And then Mariko said she didn't want to hear anything about seals for a month...
The one I used looks like the most recognized classic version, with some sealing lines here and there. Aesthetically, it's very curious.
Now I just have to send this Pokéball into deep space, towards the Sun, or I could create a dimensional rift and throw it in. So many possibilities...
Oh, I should go back to the others. I left suddenly, and I don't want to worry them.
"What happened?" Maki asks when she sees that I've returned. "Did they try to ambush us?"
"Yes... That's exactly what happened!" Since she gave me a good argument, I'll use it. "There was one hidden underground, and when it came out to retrieve the body of Itachi's clone, I noticed it and got rid of it."
"Weird," Temari frowned. "Going to such lengths doesn't seem necessary. I mean, the guy used as a sacrifice didn't know any decent secrets; he couldn't even be considered important."
In fact, I never understood why Zetsu specifically went to clean up those cheap clones, but at this point, it doesn't really matter. The scavengers will take care of cleaning up whatever's left in less than a week.
"Is this the place?" Kimimaro looked around the cave entrance. "What's the point of using it as a hideout if they put a torii gate right in front of the stone?" he asked, confused by the illogical situation. "This just draws more attention; it doesn't make sense!"
Trying to make sense of this world is somewhat complicated, to put it mildly...
"How do we open this seal?" Temari asks, trying to recognize it, apparently without success.
"Look for some seals around, and I'll take care of the rest," I vaguely remember where they're supposed to be, but I don't have the Byakugan to pinpoint them. Come to think of it, maybe I should have asked Hinata to come with us.
Hmm, no, that probably would have been a terrible idea and would have ruined her plans. I have no doubt that Sunagakure has some spies from Konoha, so let's not let them know that the current heiress is planning to defect from half the clan.
It takes about half an hour to find all the seals, and given how advanced we are, I think we still have a few hours to spare without a problem.
"Ready?" I asked them.
We were all gathered at the entrance, ready to break in at my signal. Since everyone nodded and assumed their preferred entry posture, I raised my finger and unleashed voltaic arcs that turned the seals to ashes.
I had to be careful not to start a fire for those attached to trees. None of those present are particularly skilled in water-related nature transformation.
POV Nagato
The extraction of the one-tailed beast from its jinchuriki has proceeded successfully about a third of the way thanks to the Sealing Technique: Illusionary Nine Dragons.
It's good to see that the first time the technique is carried out, everyone's synchronization is honest. With this, the first step to bringing peace to this world has been successfully taken.
I wasn't worried about failure; after all, a God cannot fail at something so insignificant.
Although I must admit it's a shame to lose Sasori, it's not like there's an abundance of rogue S-rank ninjas willing to listen to God's words.
Initially, I wanted to send someone else to hinder the rescuers sent by Sunagakure, but there was no one close enough to assist Deidara, and everyone always refused to sign an summoning contract.
Apparently, they don't like God deciding to call them when necessary.
Ignorant fools.
But as God, it's above me to argue with these people; when the time comes, when all the tailed beasts have been extracted and gathered, none of that will matter.
"Nagato, are you sure we can collect the jinchurikis in time? We have a very tight timeframe before the villages decide to act..."
Konan's doubts are understandable, but against God, all resistance is in vain.
Since I've decided to carry out the plan after so many years of preparation, naturally, I'm sure of its success without the slightest doubt.
"We have been able to identify all the jinchurikis, and we know where they are; we just have to take them. Their sacrifice, voluntary or not, will be remembered and appreciated."
"But the location of the Seven-Tails' jinchuriki..."
That precise data makes me fall into contemplation of God.
Even when Itachi and Kakuzu did business with Seimeigakure to deal with the Land of Water, the other party was cautious enough not to choose the meeting place in their mysterious village.
No matter how much money was offered on the black market, they only got false locations, which made Kakuzu climb the walls and ask for rather brutal compensation.
Adding the ability of that jinchuriki to fly away if things get ugly, along with the strange people of their new village, things might get a bit... complicated.
"No matter, we don't need the Seven-Tails until near the end," I told Konan to reassure her. "Let's take the first six before acting against her."
"Does the extraction seem a bit slower than expected?"
"Without Sasori and with the absence of Zetsu, we're missing two people, which inevitably slows down the expected speed..."
Just as I was providing an explanation to Konan, the seal in the cave where the extraction is taking place breaks, and people burst inside.
"Deidara."
"Oi! I can't deal with all four on my own," complained the pawn. "That's the Kazekage who took my arm and the long-eared one... isn't that the Kage of Seimeigakure? No way!"
Indeed, Deidara didn't have the capacity to face two Kages. Not if he has to protect the ongoing extraction; his explosions are too limited in this cave.
"Take the jinchuriki, and..."
Suddenly, my body tenses, and Konan rushes to check my condition.
"Nagato?"
"I..."
Did I just lose the connection with the Outer Path Statue?
Wait, I think I saw someone throw some kind of purple ball at the statue...
