Expectations or beliefs could influence a person's behaviors which would lead to the prophecy coming true.

A person could behave and believe according to how the prophecy was stated causing them to stay on the course to achieve what the prophecy had been shown as.

Just the knowledge of a prophecy was something that could help to direct the results to the same point.
