Alicia was amazed as she saw Paige enter the room with a grand entrance, like a refreshing, unexpected rain shower. Her appearance was more satisfying than if she had slapped Henry in the face.
Henry was speechless because of this surprise. He looked at the divorce papers, not able to say anything, his face filled with anger, darker than storm clouds in the summer.
Alicia exchanged a smile with Louis, who responded with a small grin and silently mouthed, "We planned this."
Now she got it. This mom and son team had predicted Henry's move and came up with a plan. Still, it must have been tough for Louis to see his dad do this to him in front of everyone. Alicia could feel the real sense of defeat and loss in Louis's eyes.
Paige, growing tired of Henry's silence, tapped her finger on the table and teased, "Mr. Henry Martinez, you're usually all about making quick choices and taking action. Why are you hesitating to sign these papers?"
