Louis hesitated for a moment, surprised that Alicia would hug him like that. He figured that by wiping her hand the way he did, she would be upset, feel hurt, and maybe even complain. He even had an "I'm sorry" ready to say. But instead, she hugged him, and they stood like that, in silence, for a long time.

Louis raised his left hand to support her head, gently pressing it against his shoulder, and softly stroked her cheek with a touch that carried a hint of an apology.

Resting on his shoulder, Alicia quietly asked, "What's been up with you lately?"

Louis's eyes lowered slightly, hiding his feelings, and he answered in a quiet voice, "I don't know."

Alicia thought for a moment before asking, "Did you act like this with Madelyn too?"

Louis's eyes became a bit darker as he replied, "Never."

After a pause, he added, "I'll try to hold myself back in the future."
