Valerie was fast. Very fast. Faster than a human. She had no choice but to hold on tightly as he ran, things becoming a blur behind them and the cold wind biting into her face so she pressed her face against his back.
He finally stopped and Islinda could not recognize their location. She finally understood why no one was able to find the spring because it was an area of very dense and tangled vegetation. Islinda could not remember the number of times she nearly tripped because of the steep sides. But Valerie always caught her and she learned to walk carefully.
Valerie had to shove and stumble hard on some plants to create a path to pass through and even injured his hands in the process. He claimed he was okay when she asked, lifting a hand that was already healed. Islinda honestly needed time to adjust to his inhumane abilities.
