Capítulo 7: PHYSICIANS GATHERING
After receiving the message from the castle messenger , Apollo hurriedly fixed his coat and carried his medicine box as he made to leave the door.
"I'm coming with you" Magdalene said.He halted his steps and he turn to look at her.
"Magdalene. This is a serious case and you don't have to come" He told her.
"The Lord said all physicians, he didn't give any specific requirements. I'm your apprentice I have every right to go with you" She argued back with the same strength.
Apollo only could only sigh In defeat , she was indeed as tough as nail. It was funny because he taught her that way.
"Fine. Phillip take care of the inn" He said to his son.
"Why do I always get to stay back?" Phillip replied with a frown.
Apollo shot him a glare that made him shrink back. Magdalene immediately Followed him out.
They stopped a carriage and got in. They were two others already inside, the half vampire in a mustache was glaring at Apollo. Magdalene recognized him to be another physician, a competitor called Paul. He was staring lustfully at Magdalene making her uncomfortable.
All sort of thoughts were running in Magdalene mind. She has heard stories of how fascinating the castle was, big and Beautiful, sorounded by water and it had big beautiful sculptures. But what her mind kept pointing at was the possibility of meeting the Lord. The most feared Lord of all times. They were countless stories of him long before she was born. Vampires lived longer than any creatures, they get to a stage where they stop aging, the witches needed portions to preserve their look, the demons lived long, but not as long as the vampires. The Lord was infamous for his blood thirst, women and ruthlessness.
No human king or Lords could challenge him after he created histroy by defeating hundred of thousands of army from different land with just a thousand soldiers. It was rumored that many forces joined hands to bring him down since he was too powerful.
It was no wonder that Euphoria Empire was three times larger than any other land, it was because of the kingdoms he acquired thereby expanding his.
Only members of the high society knew what he looked like, because that face of his had never appeared on any newsletters. Magdalene shrugged, she supposed he would be some ugly looking man with long fangs and many scars on his body.
The carriage began to go through the large drawbridge, The gigantic castle painted in white could be clearly seen.
"As beautiful as they say" Magdalene murmured to herself. The big iron gates were wide open and they rode in. Beautiful flowers sorounded the place, there were two water fountains in the castle. Big dragon sculptures were at both side of the entrance door. Magdalene and the two physicians alighted from the carriage and began to walk in.
Two guards with swords bowed in greeting. The big door was opened by a half vampire that looked like he was in his mid thirties but Magdalene knew he was a lot older.
" Welcome. come with me". Butler Clarke said with a small bow.
Magdalene curtsied and he gave a warm smile at her. They followed him into the castle. Magdalene eyes widened in shock, she thought the castle would be grey old and dusty, never had she expected what she just saw. It was shinning and screaming gold. There were no traces of dust and it was glittering. The big chandeliers Gave it a heavenly vibe.
Their were big beautiful paintings of past lords and ladies that hung on the wall and also lovely antiques. This was the most beautiful castle she had seen or heard about.
The butler led them to the throne room where other physicians were standing in rows.The butler left immediately and Magdalene curtsied to the lady. She was the Lord's mother, she had black long hair and fair skin. She sat at the queen sized chair and a younger beautiful woman sat beside her, the Lord's rumored fiancee. However the throne was empty signifying that the Lord was absent. Magdalene gave a relieved sigh, there wasn't a single person who wasn't terrified of the Lord.
"I've gathered you all here, because of the Pandemic disturbing the land. This terror has struck the castle and it's gotten to a point of urgency" The lady said.
"We'll urge you to give your best shots, do everything you can to save the girl" The lady instructed.
The physicians were led to big room in the castle where the ten year old girl lay. The room stinked and the sight was indeed frightening, half of the girl's face, and body had already began to rot and it was beginning to smell bad, bringing out filthy things. Most physician were trying to throw their faces away , Magdalene stared at the girl with pity. One after the other , the physicians brought out their box and began all sorts of treatments on her.
The lady, and the girls family stood by the side. You could see the puffy eyes of the girl's mother, as she sat by the side of the bed crying while her husband placed an assuring hand on her. She's a pure blooded vampire but her husband is a half blood, thereby giving birth to a half blood. The lady and the other woman stood by the side, watching the whole process silently. All the physicians tried their best for hours but the girl wasn't responding. It got to Apollo turn, he brought his equipments and began the treatment after a long time there was still no response from the girl who looked like she was in a point of death.
"All of you are just so useless"The lady yelled angrily.
When all hope was lost , Magdalene suddenly said " Let me try".
