32.96% The Marriage Deal With Mr. Red Flag / Chapter 30: Let's End This

Capítulo 30: Let's End This

Cora, Weyna's mother, greeted Sarah with a warm smile as she stood at the doorstep. "Did you come straight from the office?" she asked, observing Sarah's appearance.

Sarah nodded. "How are you, Aunt?" she asked, realising that she hadn't had a chance to inquire about Cora's well-being the day before.

"I'm doing great, except for the shock I received yesterday," Cora replied, her tone lighthearted but sincere.

Sarah embraced Cora in a warm hug. "Where is she?" she asked, referring to Weyna's whereabouts.

"She's upstairs, in her room," Cora replied, pointing in the direction of Weyna's room. "Have you eaten?"

Sarah nodded, although she hadn't had anything to eat since lunch. Even the bread Maya had bought earlier was still in her car, untouched.

"Then, go on," Cora formed a light smile.

Knocking on the door, Sarah entered after hearing Weyna's voice. She peeked inside and her smile brightened upon seeing Weyna lying on the bed.

"What are you up to?" Sarah walked in and settled herself at the end of Weyna's bed.

"Just wasting time, scrolling through social media," Weyna replied, displaying her phone screen.

Sarah shuffled over and settled beside Weyna, wrapping her arms around her best friend in a comforting embrace. She rested her head on Weyna's shoulder and whispered, "I'm sorry."

Weyna turned her head, furrowing her brow. "It's not your fault," she reassured Sarah.

"What are you going to do?" Sarah asked, curious about Weyna's future plans.

Weyna shrugged, "My parents seem to like him," she paused, sighing softly, "but it just feels... I don't know, Sarah. He came into my life so suddenly and made all these promises that feel too good to be true."

"I understand," Sarah nodded gently. "I'm not the best person to give advice, but all I can say is, take your time to think and follow your heart." She gave Weyna's arm a comforting rub.

Weyna let out another exasperated sigh. "He just doesn't stop. I've received like a hundred texts from him since this morning," she groaned, throwing her phone onto the bed and closing her eyes wearily.

"Elijah?" Sarah picked up Weyna's unlocked phone and glanced at the messages. "Wow, he seems really sweet!" she exclaimed, impressed by the content of the texts.

"Yeah, seems, who knows if he'll end up like your Noah," Weyna blurted out those blunt words unconsciously.

The room fell silent as Sarah's gaze dropped, feeling a pang of hurt from Weyna's words.

"Ah, I'm sorry," Weyna quickly apologised, realising the impact of her words.

"It's not your fault," Sarah replied softly. Hearing the words from Weyna, Sarah decided not to share the events of last night with Weyna and also not wanting to burden her while she was still recovering.

Weyna sensed that something was amiss from Sarah's expression. "Is there something wrong?" she asked, concerned.

Sarah tried to maintain a smile, but Weyna's intuition was spot-on. "Oh, what? No, no, nothing wrong," she replied, her voice slightly strained.

Weyna's gaze remained fixed on Sarah. She knew her friend too well to be fooled by the facade. "Are you sure?" she pressed gently, sensing that Sarah was holding something back.

Sarah hesitated for a moment, contemplating whether or not to share the contents of the invitation card with Weyna. Finally, she made up her mind and looked directly into Weyna's eyes. "Babe, you need to read this," she said, handing over the invitation card she had received earlier.

Weyna took the card, her curiosity piqued. As she read the contents, her expression changed, reflecting a mix of surprise and disbelief. "He is planning to introduce you?" she asked, but her eyes frowning, "in their pre-wedding party?"

Sarah nodded, "I really can't understand his intentions. What would it mean if he introduced me in front of both his and Grace's friends?" She had been contemplating the situation during her journey to Weyna's place, but she couldn't find any positive outcome from attending the party.

Weyna's frown deepened as she processed the situation. "That's...complicated," she said, trying to find the right words. "It sounds like he's using you as some sort of pawn in his relationship with Grace. It's not fair to either of you." Weyna paused for a moment, her eyes filled with concern. "What are you planning to do, Sarah?" she asked, her voice soft and supportive.

"I have something to tell you, but I need you to promise me something first," Sarah said, looking directly at Weyna and waiting for her response.

"What do you want me to promise?" Weyna asked, showing a hint of curiosity, but withholding her commitment.

"Just promise me that you will not get mad, and then I'll tell you," Sarah urged, emphasising the importance of the promise.

"Alright, fine. I promise. Now tell me what it is," Weyna agreed, slowly sitting up and leaning against the headboard.

"I signed a three-month contract with Noah," Sarah revealed, sharing the secret that was supposed to be between her and Noah.

"What?!" Weyna exclaimed in disbelief. "Wait, wait, I don't understand," she raised her hand as a gesture for Sarah to let her process everything first. "What contract are you talking about?"

Sarah took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "Noah asked me to pretend to be his wife for three months. He made me sign a contract to make it all official," she explained, her voice tinged with a mix of frustration and confusion.

"Wait," Weyna adjusted her posture, a growing unease in her expression. "So, you're telling me that you knew from the beginning that the entire marriage thing was fake?"

Sarah shook her head weakly, her gaze fixed on the light blue mattress. "No," she replied, her voice filled with sadness.

"No?" Weyna's impatience grew, and annoyance seeped into her voice. "Explain, because I don't understand. How did you end up in this situation?"

Sarah recounted the events of that night to Weyna, her voice tinged with remorse. "I'm fully aware that you're going to call me foolish, and I can't argue with that. I acted impulsively and made a grave mistake. He persuaded me to sign a marriage registration form, and I did it without thinking. I even left my thumbprint on it," she paused, her voice quivering. "But now I'm at a loss. What should I do? How can I free myself from this mess?"

Weyna took a deep breath. She took back the invitation card and read the details. "So, the party is tomorrow night?" she confirmed, and Sarah nodded in response.

"Then go," Weyna's words hung in the air, surprising Sarah. "What do you mean, go?" she asked, her confusion evident.

Weyna looked Sarah in the eyes, her expression uncertain. "I'm not sure, but maybe it's an opportunity for you to confront Noah and make things clear. You can let him know that you're not going to be a part of this charade anymore. It's a risk, but it might also lead to a resolution."

Sarah bit her lip, unsure of what to do. "But what if it backfires? What if I end up getting hurt or humiliated?"

Weyna sighed, her face reflecting her own doubts. "I don't have all the answers, Sarah. This is a difficult situation, and there's no guarantee of a positive outcome. But sometimes, we have to take risks to find our way out of a mess. If you decide to go, I'll be by your side, supporting you."

Sarah pondered Weyna's words, feeling torn between her desire for freedom and the fear of facing the consequences. The weight of her decision hung heavy in the air, and the room fell into an uneasy silence.

Finally, Sarah took a deep breath and looked up at Weyna, her eyes filled with determination. "You're right. I can't let fear hold me back. Tomorrow night, I will go to that party and confront Noah. It's time to put an end to this nonsense."
