Capítulo 133: CHAPTER 129

"Stiles said he was with her moments before she disappeared."

Was it a coincidence that someone died the very day Lydia shared her concerns about her incompetence as a banshee? Yes.

Did it give more credence and urgency to her words? Doubly so.

"And Stilinski?"

"He's pretty shaken up but I think he'll be dragging Scott to help sniff her out after school." Allison said, sitting on top of Tristan's desk while Malia sat on his lap, none of them caring for the stray gazes sent their way. "Think it's the Alphas?"

Malia wiggled on top of Tristan as she shook her head slowly. "Your dad was right in saying that it was something else that brought the Alphas back to Beacon Hills and not just Derek…"

"You're saying that her death is related to what might have drawn them back to Beacon Hills?" Allison contemplated that line of thought but she couldn't paint any tangent from it so she looked at Tristan for his opinion but he appeared lost in his own thoughts.

"What's up with him? Bad night?" She questioned Malia while curiously observing Tristan's lost eyes.

Malia rolled her eyes at the last part of the question and replied as she twisted his nose rather harshly. "He's just being annoyingly retrospective for no good reason."

"You both know that I can hear you, right?" He said as he adjusted his seating position and cradled Malia comfily against himself. "As for your question, I have no idea. I can't think of anyone or anything stupid enough to cause problems with a pack of Alphas."

When they thought about it, Tristan's words made a lot of sense. Who in their right mind would be dumb or suicidal enough to cross Deucalion and his people?

"That said, it can also be that just like Derek, they came for someone. Either to kill or to recruit." He added.

As expected of them, they immediately caught on to what he was trying to say.

"They are looking for an Alpha?" Malia asked in a statement-like way.

Tristan nodded. "That or someone in position to be one. There could have any reason for being here; big, small and/or sentimental."

Allison tilted her head confusedly. "Sentiments?"

"Who knows? Maybe they just wanted the last Hale Alpha to join them."

'Another good point.' Both girls thought. They stopped thinking about it as they had nothing on the pack's reason for being here.

Both girls chose to drop the topic but Malia suddenly remembered something, causing her to cutely tap her lips contemplatively. "Then what was that with the crows? I doubt that was an Alphas influence on forest animals."

Tristan paused and tried thinking about it but he ended up drawing blanks all the same. "We'll know in time."

....

[Derek Hale POV]

Derek could only sigh in relief after he heard from Braeden and Stiles that they knew where Erica was being kept.

It turns out that the reason why the twin Alphas went after Isaac was because he had found out where Erica was being kept but was then found out by the twins who were then tasked to either capture or kill him.

His only lucky star was that he was saved by Braeden who also had found the place from her contractor, putting both her and Isaac in the crosshairs of the group of Alphas.

"Are you going to tell me who contracted you to help me?" Derek asked but all he got was a "No can't do" from the all-black-leather-wearing black mercenary.

"Just know that Erica is not the only beta they have chained up. Who it is, I have no idea. Heads up, they'll definitely be expecting you." Braeden informed him while her hand rested on the sawn off shotgun holstered to her waist.

"You're leaving?"

"Yes. After I just ran afoul of Deucalion's pack, I have no intention of sticking around any longer. Not when I just completed my contract." She remarked as she packed all her weapons into a bag.

She took a few steps and stopped to give Derek the main objective of her contract. "All they told me is that you're not Deucalion's target."

Derek frowned, but inquired regardless. "What's his target then, or rather who?"

Braeden held two of her fingers up. "Two people; both with the potential to surpass the Demon Wolf. Scott McCall and Tristan Hayes. See you later, Derek Hale." And with that she was gone.

While he didn't understand Deucalion's interest in Scott, he could make a guess I'm Tristan's case.

From what he could get from Braeden, every Alpha in Deucalion's pack is special in some way. Even the twins could somehow combine into one body and form some kind of super Alpha, so it wasn't all that surprising given what Tristan was.

But what about Scott? Did Deucalion want Scott to kill him for the spark?

He picked up his phone and put in a call to Scott, temporarily forgetting about Deucalion's interest in both teens.

"Scott, I need you here immediately after school. Isaac and I are going to rescue Erica and you're coming along with us."

[I'll be there as soon as possible]

Ending the call there, the next call he put out was to Tristan. Even if he couldn't help now due to Satomi's orders, he figured he could still ask for it and give him a heads up regarding what he heard from Braeden.

"Hey Tristan, are you alone right now?"

[Yes]

He then gave the young vampire a short summary of what he'd learn so far concerning the Alpha Pack.

[….]

"Tristan?"

[In other words, he'll sooner or later attack and kill my family to force me to join him?]

Derek let out a weary breath that showed just how stressed out he was of recent.

"More than likely, yes. I suggest you tell Satomi as soon as you can." He warned. "… What do you think she'll do if you tell her?"

[… Probably move out those who might not want to fight, meaning no one, and then have a talk with Deucalion…] Tristan's reply came in with calmly articulated words.

"And you? What are you going to do?" Derek asked.

[The last time we fought an Alpha, you stole the kill from me, though I'll admit he was rightfully yours to kill. I wonder how I'll feel after draining an Alpha dry of all his blood?]

Derek chuckled morbidly, a sentiment he shared, though he was more of a ripping out throats guy. Nevertheless he could relate, still he felt he had to remind Tristan.

"These aren't your normal Alphas, Tristan. Deucalion, Ennis and Kali are one of the strongest Alphas of their time when they were in Beacon Hills. I can tell you that Peter has nothing on them."

It was a harrowing thought whenever he remembered that he was about to face five super strong Alphas with just two betas by his side. It was a losing battle, he knew, but he couldn't bear to lose Erica. Not anymore.

[I know…] Tristan's voiceover said before adding a short sentence before he cut the call. [… Malia and I will be there]

The way a long breath left his lungs, anybody could tell that those words brought a certain amount of relief to Derek. Most likely because he had fought alongside the both of them before and the confidence he had in their strength.

They both could hold an Alpha down regardless of how hard it could be. While that still left 3 or 4 Alpha unaccounted for him and his betas to face, even with the high probability of losing, it wasn't as apparently bleak as it looked a few minutes ago.

'Just hang on for a bit, Erica.'

...

[Tristan Hayes POV]

"Trist…" Malia called out worriedly as she saw how animated he started acting after hearing what Derek told him.

"What happened? What did Derek say to him?" A concerned Allison asked upon seeing how strange the both of them were behaving. "Tristan, talk to me. What did Derek say?"

A look they were both familiar with as his irritated face took over his facial expression for a brief moment before it receded, giving way to a fed up look on Tristan.

Looking at both their worried faces, he waved his hand in a nonchalant manner. "Relax, it's nothing serious." He said, causing Allison to breathe out in relief, a breath she let out too quick, while Malia continued staring at him.

"Something about Deucalion wanting me in his pack or something of that nature. Meaning he might start attacking the other members of my pack to force my decision to join him." The way he simplified the horrific words he just said was what stumped Allison.

'Looking at it from my point of view, my vampiric instincts kicking in now is an opportuned timing.'

Allison grabbed his hand in genuine worry. "What are you guys going to do, Tristan?"

Tristan refused to let his worry for his pack show on his face, so just as nonchalantly as he spoke before, he answered Allison in tone.

"What else? We'll try to kill them before they kill us. One Alpha at a time."
