I’m on ch 584 at this time. I thoroughly enjoy this story. It is one of the only stories that I appreciate the romantic partner. The system is very background and isn’t extremely op. But as the time goes on mc becomes stronger than anyone at the same level as him. World background has your typical human vs demonic beast troupe with human traitors as well as an outside of the world threat. You learn more about them as you uncover the wife’s background and beyond. I wish the system was a little more forefront and some of the kingdom building stuff went into more detail. I feel the author wanted to write a cultivation novel but wanted to add some hype by giving mc a system. As I said I like the story and will continue to read. It’s a nice read especially if you don’t have anything else.

In itself it's a good story, but the problem is that it's ultra repetitive. I'm on Chapter 482 and I've read the same arc sequence 3 and a half times. An auction, a random one that provokes them and then ends up dying 20 chapters later, and a tide of beasts. Interspersed with artifact and/or overpowered pill fabrications. And of course never a betrayal, a setback or even the slightest development for the MC and his wife. Wife who is supposed to be as strong as him except that we never see him since she is a flower pot most of the time. So if you want to read it, don't read almost 500 chapters in 2 days at the risk of being disgusted and not read it again for probably 6 months.

He had so much potential but the trash mc accepted the ancestor's idea of becoming a couple with someone who only helped him 5 times. Disgusting and one of the worst things I want to find in a novel, that the protagonist has 0 self-esteem and accepts the ideas of people that he will surpass at some point

I will write spoilers."This novel overly imposes equality of strength between Jiang Chengxuan and his wife, Shen Ruyan. In the early chapters, during their cultivation in the Foundation Establishment Realm and Violet Palace Realm, it's understandable if Shen Ruyan is stronger than her husband due to her advantages from her previous life. However, after reaching the Golden Core Realm where Jiang Chengxuan condensed a level 11 golden core while Shen Ruyan only condensed a level 9 golden core, the author insists that they are equally strong, especially in the chapter where both reach the sixth stage of the Golden Core Realm. The author claims that Jiang Chengxuan can defeat a cultivator of the False Newly Born Soul Realm, and so can Shen Ruyan!Where is the logic in this?Jiang Chengxuan possesses many powerful Dharma treasures, while Shen Ruyan has only one. Additionally, Jiang Chengxuan has developed numerous and stronger divine abilities compared to Shen Ruyan. So, where does their equal strength come from?Truly, the author seems to lack understanding."

It’s annoying how the female lead is always one step ahead and makes it feel like she’s stronger than the mc when she only has past memories while the mc has a system, mc seems kinda weak for someone with a system though you could say the fl was probably a peak cultivator in the past or something idk so maybe she has a early advantage and maybe the mc will surpass a little during late cultivation stages as usually this is the trend for these kind of cultivation novels

Finally a story with a steady and devoted MC, no harem and no needless drama. I love that this story has a dao companion that is involved in MC's life and they share their moments together and they support each other, it's definitely better than having the female lead as a baggage to be cared for a rescued, the MC's wife here can carry her weight and more. This is a pure cultivation story with a little system that doesn't dictate the life of mc. ---- However, I have some misgivings with this novel, mainly that it's telling us what happened and not showing us through the writing, meaning that you don't experience the interaction between characters nor feel deeply connected with them, all because the writing style is telling you what happened directly; example: "through communication, mc found out this about his wife" or "mc spent a touching moment with supporting character". so as a reader you just feels dissonance, especially since mc and wife are main characters here but we as readers don't feel their connection as a couple, the author avoids even the tiniest couple/intimate moments. Even their marriage happened suddenly without any build up, and it's mainly because of the writing style that doesn't let you explore the personality and thoughts of characters.

There's nothing really new or interesting about this novel. If I were to sum this novel up in 1 word then it would be boring. There are a lot of timeskip so nothing feels meaningful. Like, what's the point of the mc going out to explore if he can just afk for a time skip and power up? The mc in this novel never encounters anything life-threatening in 200 chapters. What's more, he has a protagonist-like Dao companion who is as op as the mc. Also, the system always conveniently gives the mc the perfect mission at the right time. He learns all these skills but the author never really gets into it. Don't expect a low-key mc but he doesn't go around faceslapping everyone. There's pretty much no plot at all. The only closest thing we've gotten to a plot was the beast tide that happens every 200 years but suddenly got shortened to 100 years for no reason. Pretty much everything is just filler to the mc becoming stronger. If there was a plot it'd be mc goes into seclusion --> powers up and uses all the resources --> goes to trade or "explore" for resources --> mob villain greeds for mc's resources and dies --> mob villain conveniently has what the mc needs --> mc goes back into seclusion --> repeat. That's pretty much a vague summary of every arc. Also the mc and characters in the novel are pretty boring. There's nothing unique or interesting about them. There's just no character development in over 200 chapters. Overall, this novel is painful to read but if you have nothing to read then it's bearable. Just don't get your hopes up for any exciting fights or satisfying power-ups.

You know, it's really disappointing when a promising story takes a nosedive into a cesspool of bigotry and an unhealthy obsession with blood relations. The initial chapters showed potential, but then it's like the author couldn't resist drowning the narrative in sexism and this bizarre blood fixation. Suddenly, 'blood' relatives are put on this pedestal, while the genuinely interesting 'non-blood' relationships are left in the dust. The main character's sudden favoritism towards 'blood' kin is both frustrating and off-putting. It's like the author forgot how to create meaningful connections beyond some arbitrary genetic link. What's worse is how this skewed perspective bleeds into the MC's actions. If you're not part of the 'blood' club, you're automatically relegated to the role of an outsider. Loyalty and support from non-blood companions are met with mistrust and scheming, which is incredibly jarring and makes it difficult to invest in the characters. The first 120 or so chapters were tolerable, but then the author went full-throttle on this 'blood' fixation, and it felt like a slap in the face for readers who were hoping for a more nuanced and inclusive narrative. It's a shame when an otherwise potentially enjoyable novel gets overshadowed by such regressive themes.

This is my dictionary definition of a boring novel. There's nothing particularly wrong with it. Except that there's nothing new, nothing interesting, nothing, different about it. It's a cut-and-paste dry and slow cliche cultivation novel.

There are constant time skips. The system only exists when the author remembers this is a system novel. The author conjoined two premises, he is trying to write an actual, serious cultication story but decided to give the protagonist cheats. It clashes. Why do the cheats even exist? Now for my personal input, I don't like it after he joins the sect/family. It's pointless. Could have been a cool rogue, solo cultivator story. Now it's turning into a cookie cutter cultivation story. I would have given it a 2 but I will give it a 3 because I can see how others might like it.

This here is a good novel. Nothing ground breaking but a real pleasant experience. The system isn't super overbearing or super OP, so MC, despite wanting to be a hermit, has to go out of his cave and gather resources occasionally. It appears that we're going to get some relationship which I appreciate. The characters are all pretty smart and are pretty believable.

A suprisingşy realistic cn. Most hermit mcs run away from everything but this mc takes measured risks even though he is a hermit type mc. Mc also understands its foolish to offend people for bo reason. Over a good cn with common sense which is quite rare. Also the system isnt too op so far and mostly relies on öcs hard work.
