Capítulo 35: INCRIMENTAL

The classroom buzzed with activity, the air heavy with the chatter of students as the evening sun cast a warm, golden hue through the windows. Among the sea of faces, Kim and Kian sat at the back of the room, their conversation animated and oblivious to the lecture taking place at the front.

As they leaned in, sharing a joke or an anecdote, the rest of the class periodically glanced back in annoyance, shushing them and urging them to be quiet. But, for the mischievous duo, the classroom was just another canvas for their relentless banter.

Then, a hush rippled through the room as the door swung open, revealing a figure that didn't quite belong in this academic setting. Owen, with a well-built frame, black hair that held an air of unruliness, and striking green-brown eyes, entered the room. His mere presence, even before he uttered a word, turned heads and commanded attention.

His gaze scanned the room, his eyes narrowing slightly as he spotted Kim and Kian at the back. Without hesitation, he strode towards them, determination etched in his demeanor. As he reached their desk, his gaze locked onto Kim, and he said, "Are you Kim?"

Kim, surprised by the abrupt interruption, raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, what's it to you?" he replied, a hint of defiance in his voice.

Owen's expression didn't waver. "I'm Owen," he introduced himself. "Your sister, Claire, asked me to find you. She's waiting outside."

Kim's face contorted in irritation, and he leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. "Just because you're dating my sister doesn't mean you get to boss me around."

The class had fallen deathly silent, all eyes now fixated on the unexpected confrontation unfolding at the back. Tension crackled in the air.

Kim's gaze briefly shifted to Kian, who returned a puzzled look. Their friendship had been forged through years of camaraderie, shared secrets, and a deep understanding of each other's families. Kim's family had been a source of support for Kian's family, and they had worked together in the jewelry business for many years.

Kim and Kian made their way through the bustling corridors of the Ayden Jewelry Company. The office spaces were adorned with elegant displays of exquisite jewelry, a testament to the family legacy that had been meticulously crafted over generations. Kim's sister, Sasha, occupied a spacious office at the end of the hall. Despite being in high school, Kim held a significant position in the family hierarchy, positioned as a potential heir to the company, a responsibility he hadn't fully embraced yet.

As they entered Sasha's office, Kian couldn't help but admire the elegant ambiance. Sasha, with her commanding presence and a smile that could light up a room, greeted them. "Kim, Kian, what a pleasant surprise," she said, her voice warm and inviting.

Kian returned the greeting, but inside, his heart sank at the sight of Sasha. He had harbored feelings for her, but those emotions now seemed futile given her relationship with Owen. The age gap between them had always been a subtle barrier, but now, with Sasha dating someone else, it felt like an insurmountable chasm.

Kim, ever the pragmatic one, quickly got down to business. "Sasha, what's the reason for summoning me?" he inquired, curiosity flickering in his eyes.

Sasha reached for a blueprint on her desk, her fingers tracing the intricate lines. "I wanted to discuss this design you brought in the other day. It's fascinating, Kim. Truly innovative," she praised, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.

Kian's attention was instantly drawn to the blueprint. He remembered that night when Kim had narrowly escaped a potentially fatal encounter with three men from a rival jewelry company. The blueprint, in its detailed intricacy, held a clue to a world of secrets and possibly danger.

Sasha continued, her gaze shifting between Kim and Kian. "This design has a unique quality to it. I believe it could elevate our brand to new heights, but I need more details. Do you have any insights into its origins or the inspiration behind it?"

Kim hesitated for a moment, his eyes flickering with a mixture of determination and concern. "I stumbled upon it in an old family archive. There were no labels or explanations. It seemed to have been tucked away, hidden from plain sight."

In the dim glow of Sasha's office, an unspoken tension hung in the air. Kim's claim about finding the design in an old family archive was far from the truth. Both he and Kian shared a secret burden, a shared memory of that fateful night when they had ventured into the shadows of the city, seeking an elusive piece of jewelry that had a price beyond material value.

Kian glanced at Kim, a silent understanding passing between them. They had paid a hefty price for the design that now lay before them. A price measured not just in money, but in fear, blood, and the weight of a secret that threatened to crush them. The memory of the attack, the glint of knives in the darkness, and the chilling threats still haunted their dreams.

As Sasha studied the blueprint, unaware of the hidden truths, Kim felt a pang of guilt. He wanted to protect his sister, shield her from the darkness that lurked beyond their luxurious world. But lies had woven their web around them, trapping them in a dangerous game they couldn't escape.

"We'll do everything we can, Sasha," Kim said, his voice laced with determination. He avoided Kian's gaze, knowing that his best friend could see through his facade.

Kian, ever perceptive, masked his emotions behind a façade of calm. "We won't let anything harm the Wells legacy."

Sasha, sensing their resolve, nodded appreciatively. "Be cautious, both of you. I trust your instincts, but don't hesitate to reach out if things get too risky. We can't afford any harm to come to our family."

Just then a lady walks in to the office saying that there are people here....but before she could finish 4 men walk in saying that they have been issued a search warrant on something that was stolen.

*********************************************************

Under the gentle glow of the moon, Jay found solace in the quiet of his room. The remnants of his past life echoed in his thoughts, a constant reminder of the mysteries that surrounded his existence in this unfamiliar world. With a heavy sigh, he turned his attention to the ethereal presence within his mind.

"Clara, why do I keep having these memory surges from my past life?" Jay questioned, his voice laced with a hint of frustration and confusion. He had hoped for answers, something to quell the storm of uncertainties that raged within him.

Clara's voice, soft and soothing, resonated within his mind. "To be honest, I can't be sure," she replied, her tone reflective of her own uncertainty. "You being a variant, an anomaly in this world, your soul and memories are likely trying to align themselves, adapting to this new reality."

Jay ran his fingers through his hair, frustration etched on his face. "But still... it feels like these memories, these surges, could be leading towards something," he murmured, his gaze fixated on the moonlit night outside his window. "I'm just existing in this world with no clear purpose. I don't understand why I was brought here. There has to be a reason."

Clara, in her ethereal wisdom, tried to offer reassurance. "Sometimes, the threads of fate are complex and intertwined. Perhaps there's a purpose you've yet to discover, a path that will reveal itself in due time."

Jay sighed, feeling a mixture of resignation and determination. "I suppose," he said, his voice trailing off. "But either way, I can't help but wonder how Kim is doing back home. I left so suddenly, without a proper goodbye. I hope he's okay."

As he continued to gaze out of the window, Jay's thoughts drifted back to his friend, Kim, and the life he had left behind. The memories of their shared experiences, the laughter, and even the challenges they had faced together flooded his mind.
