"Brother, I love spending time with you, but we've been flying for a few hours, and other than the occasional cultivator, we haven't come across anything fun like you said we would." Said Elaine as she looked at Elif while the two flew just above the forest, still heading west.
"I didn't say we're going to have fun; I said, let's have fun. There is a slight difference between the two, Elaine." Replied Elif with a slight nod as he glanced at Elaine, who was giving him an unamused look.
"Well, I don't care; all I want to know is whether we will have fun." Remarked Elaine with a shake of her head while looking at the forest below, inhabited by numerous beasts.
Rubbing my chin, I spread my divine sense, hoping to discover something of interest, and while I, unfortunately, didn't do so, I did happen to come across a group of cultivators struggling to fight a beast. It wasn't something interesting, but I figured I should help them; after all, the more people I prevent from dying, the better my chance of winning the bet.
"Hmm, let's go that way. I spotted a group of cultivators fighting a decently powerful beast that hopefully should provide some form of entertainment." Said Elif rather unenthusiastically as he pointed toward the north, prompting Elaine to expand her divine sense, which was massive, given her void physique and cultivation base of an early Divine, though it was still slightly smaller than Elif's; of course, that is if they have the same cultivation base, otherwise it's not even comparable.
"Are you being serious, Brother?" Asked Elaine with a frown as she viewed the group of cultivators, which happened to consist of all women fighting against a beast.
"Yes, is there something wrong with my suggestion? I know it's not exactly what you probably envisioned when you think of fun, but it's not like what we are doing is any more interesting. Besides, saving their lives isn't a bad thing; they are Elves, and doing so will help us win the bet." Replied Elif calmly as he changed his direction and flew toward the group of women in the north; Elaine, while displeased, silently followed behind.
The group of women weren't too far away, and in just a couple of minutes of some leisure flying, we arrived, and just in time, too, since it seemed like they had reached their limit against the beast, which looked to be a mountain ape; they're called that, not because of their size, but because of their absurd strength.
"Hailey, watch out!!" Yelled a heavily injured woman as she attempted to stand up while looking at Hailey in the distance, who was about to be swatted like a fly by the mountain ape.
Seeing the gravely injured woman about to be slapped to death by the enraged mountain ape, like the heavenly dashing prince I am, I swooped right in between the two and outstretched my hand toward the incoming large hairy palm, stopping it right in its tracks as the mountain ape shifted his focus from the injured woman to me. The ape clearly wasn't stupid, since with my sudden presence and my ability to casually block its full-powered attack, it retreated while warily observing me, though since the ape wasn't the one I had business with, I merely pressured it, forcing the ape to its knees.
"Now that you know the massive difference in strength between us, leave unless you wish to be killed." Said Elif lightly as he released the ape, causing it to quickly flee while whimpering in fear.
Watching the ape vanish into the thick vegetation of the forest, I turned around, eyeing the astonished, exhausted, and injured woman, who was covered in dirt, blood, and numerous bruises; just as I was about to say something befitting of my princely status, she collapsed, and her falling direction just so happened to be toward me.
'Annoying, she's going to dirty my clothes; why couldn't she have fallen in a different direction?' Mused Elif as he caught the woman who had fallen onto his chest, which just so happened to be seen by Elaine.
While the unconscious woman leaned against me, I suddenly sensed a great deal of killing intent, causing me to look directly at its source, but when I did, it completely vanished, which confused me since, other than Elaine, I didn't find anyone.
"Hmm, Elaine, did you sense that sudden spike of killing intent?" Asked Elif curiously with a frown as he eyed the smiling Elaine, who radiated a friendly aura.
"Killing intent? No, I didn't sense anything; are you sure you sensed it, Brother?" Replied Elaine lightly as she cutely tilted her head while landing on the ground beside Elif.
'Maybe I'm just overthinking things, but I'm sure I had sensed killing intent; oh well, even if I did, there shouldn't be anyone who could sneak up on me or Elaine; her Void Physique grants her an insane degree of spatial awareness. Even I find it almost impossible to sneak up on Elaine when she's alert.' Thought Elif with a frown before shaking his head and forgetting about it, though he made sure to be more alert.
"H-Hailey!" Yelled an injured woman in worry as she and a few others quickly neared Elif, though none noticed Elif since all of their focus was on Hailey.
"Don't need to be so loud; she's fine, though if she stays like this for too long, she may enter critical condition; she's much more injured than you all are." Stated Elif calmly, handing Hailey toward the worried women as they quickly began treating her wounds while one approached Elif.
"T-Thank you, fellow cultivator; if there i-i-i-" Said the woman with a deep bow of gratitude, though when she looked at Elif and noticed his purple mark of royalty, her mind went blank while her cheeks took on a deep red hue.
"You're welcome." Replied Elif lightly while dismissively nodding at the woman as he pointed toward Hailey.
"However, while I know I'm unquestionably gorgeous, paying attention to your injured friend would be in my best interest." Added Elif with a raised eyebrow, his words breaking the woman out of her trance as she embarrassingly looked away.
"M-My apologies, P-Prince Elif; I-I'll tend t-to my sister." Said the woman in utter embarrassment as she gave a bow before turning around and focusing back on Hailey
"So, what do you intend to do with these women, Brother?" Asked Elaine lightly with a smile, though her eyes, which contained an untold amount of rage and hate, never once left Hailey's gravely injured figure.
"Nothing, I merely saved them so that I may have a better chance at winning the bet; after all, I did state a rather high number, though seeing how poorly they are tending to their sister, it may be smarter to just lend them a few pills. Since I've already saved them, I might as well go through with it; otherwise, this would be all for naught if she or the others end up dying." Remarked Elif calmly with a slight frown as they watched the several women tend to Hailey's injuries with nothing but rags of cloth and mediocre ointment from their pouch, denoting their statuses as poor commoners.
"Hmm, I suppose so." Replied Elaine as she displayed a bloodthirsty smirk of anger as she eyed Hailey, her killing intent threatening to leak out.
Approaching the women, who, when noticing my presence, all looked up at me, only for them to have similar reactions as the first woman, though I've experienced that numerous times, so I didn't even react to it, summoning a couple of rejuvenation pills from my dimension ring, I floated them towards the women before placing the last one in the mouth of a most injured woman.
"Stare all you want, but it won't heal your injuries like that pill will." Commented Elif with a raised eyebrow while glancing at the several women who were blankly staring at him.
A few seconds later, they all deeply blushed while apologizing before they consumed the pill, causing their eyes to widen, which I could only assume would be from how effective it was given their status as commoners.
"What a potent pill! All of my injuries are nearly healed; only my most serious ones remain." Said one of the women as she examined her skin, which displayed not a single wound or bruise, though the same couldn't be said for her insides.
While the women were gazing at their healed or healing wounds, the woman lying on the ground awoken from her slumber as her eyes fluttered open, meeting with mine; she was much more refined compared to her sisters, given she didn't aimlessly stare at me, but of course, she couldn't stop from blushing, I'm irresistible after all.
"There, now that you all are safe, don't die. I saved your lives, and I don't want my actions to have been a waste of my time." Remarked Elif lightly, his voice causing the women to ignore their healing bodies and intently look at Elif, who had neared Elaine, causing them to finally notice her presence as well.
Standing beside Elaine, the two of us watched how they all stood up and slowly approached as they at first bowed before awkwardly looking at each other, eventually moving to a kneeling position, which was slightly amusing, in my opinion.
"T-Thank you for saving my sisters and I, Prince Elif and Princess Elaine; without your interference, we surely would've been killed by that beast. There aren't words to portray the emotions I feel for you willingly saving a bunch of poor commoners like us." Declared Hailey with her head down while kneeling before Elif and Elaine, her four sisters doing the same.
