Capítulo 397: Chapter 397: Winning by Lying Down

The first to charge were the modified Arcane Guardians.

These Arcane Guardians, with a style completely different from the elves, made the trolls doubt their own eyes.

The elven Arcane Guardians, with their soft curves all over, looked like a giant piece of sculpture art when they stood still, except for their huge fists.

The modified Arcane Guardians, however, were filled with a primitive and brutal style. Arms, elbows, shoulders, chests, calves, knees, almost all places that could easily come into contact with the enemy, were equipped with at least half a meter long hard steel spikes or sharp crescent blades.

They had become killing machines.

The Arcane Constructs at the forefront completely ignored all the trolls' thrown weapons. Metal spears and catapults were deflected upon impact.

The previously effective 'hammer dismantling Gundam' tactic now had nowhere to apply.

A few brave trolls rushed up, but the charging elves didn't even look at them. Each elf stared at those trolls with a look that seemed to say, "Look at these idiots going to their death."

And indeed, that was the case.

The trolls' large hammers got stuck on the dense spikes of the Arcane Guardians, and it was wishful thinking to hit any joint. As a result, these trolls were directly hit by the Arcane Guardians.

Simply being knocked flying, breaking a few ribs and vomiting blood, were the lucky ones. The worst off were those who were skewered like beef waiting to be barbecued on the huge legs of the Arcane Guardians, pinned there half-dead.

The trolls' powerful healing ability meant that they couldn't die for quite a long time. Their bodies were hooked by the slightly curved spikes and couldn't be pulled down. They could only sway with each step of the Arcane Guardians, their bodies being torn at the wounds, issuing horrifying cries.

If the Gronn controlled by the orcs were still here, or if those agile two-headed ogre warriors were still here, they could at least use the brute force of these monstrous creatures to forcefully resist with strength and heavy weapons. Unfortunately, there are no ifs in this world.

The trolls, generally over two meters tall, looked as ridiculous as ants in front of these huge magical and mechanical creations.

"No—" Nalorakk, a powerful troll under Zul'jin, roared. As a standout who had undergone the transformation of the Storm Altar, Nalorakk had gained a druid-like shape-shifting ability.

With a roar that seemed to come from the ancient times, he turned into a super giant bear standing upright over 6 meters tall and weighing at least five tons.

The giant bear charged!

This was an unscientific battle skill based on the warrior class skill.

The huge and sharp bear claws dug trenches deep enough to bury a person's calf in the ground, and the huge and exaggerated figure left a trail of light on the ground.

Using his unusually thick fur, Nalorakk's bear paw shattered the spikes and blades on the Arcane Guardian, directly hitting the joint of the Arcane Construct.

After this huge Arcane Guardian fell with a bang, it seemed to struggle to get up. It was immediately followed by a few more swipes from the giant bear, shattering its arcane core.

Kael'thas frowned on the city wall.

Duke's voice immediately rang in the prince's ear: "Let Salandriel and Sagunar go up, bring two healers, and the rest can be handled by a team of elite rangers or mages."

Kael'thas did as he was told, and the effect was immediate. The powerful Nalorakk was immediately restrained, and the prince's two sturdy hands were just right to hold Nalorakk back.

Then another troll who could summon hurricanes and thunder appeared.

He was Akil'zon, known by the resounding nickname 'Eagle God'.

He started off by using powerful lightning strikes to disable three Arcane Guardians, then summoned a hurricane, easily sweeping away large swathes of elven soldiers.

Watching those soldiers flying across the sky, being bombarded into charred bodies by terrifying thunder, Kael'thas's facial muscles twitched.

Duke snapped his fingers, summoning Alleria and Sylvanas.

Duke's instructions were simple and violent: "Stand in the eye of the storm, shoot anything that isn't elven."

On the battlefield, every moment of delay is dozens of lives. The Windrunner sisters leapt from the high city wall and glided to the battlefield with the wind. After seven or eight quick and agile landings, they faced Akil'zon.

Next, several of Zul'jin's men who had been strengthened by the Storm Altar, although it was their first time taking action, were restrained after a brief display of ferocity. Duke gave a slight hint to the prince, and they could see those guys being restrained.

At this point, the look in Kael'thas's eyes when he looked at Duke had changed.

The term 'prophetic' was not enough to describe Duke.

That earth-shattering observational power.

That penetrating power to see through the enemy's weaknesses at a glance.

Kael'thas admired him immensely, a feeling of worship was growing wildly in the heart of this Sunstrider prince.

"Kael, actually, this is nothing big. In fact, as soon as Alleria told me that Gul'dan had destroyed the Rune Stone, I rushed to the scene. After some research, I had already deduced 80% of the enemy's skills and strength and thought of countermeasures. The responses made after seeing them on the battlefield are just the completion of my thoughts these days."

"Duke. I admire you."

"You don't need to admire me, you can do it too. As long as you are good at observing, good at thinking, you can discover many things that you have been ignoring. As long as you make more thorough preparations than the enemy, when you confront them on the battlefield, the scales of victory will naturally tilt towards you."

"I have learned." Kael'thas bowed deeply to Duke.

Duke happily accepted it.

Trolls fighting elves have always been at a disadvantage.

After the good hands strengthened by the Storm Altar were restrained, the trolls once again became helpless.

Scattered spears thrown at the elven troops, most of them were blocked by the fierce Arcane Guardians in front, and less than ten percent could reach the back. Even if a few elves fell occasionally, the soldiers behind would immediately fill the gap. The enemy in front seemed endless, giving Zul'jin a sense of powerlessness.

In terms of numbers, the trolls definitely had the advantage.

However, when hundreds of Arcane Guardians lined up and pressed over with an overwhelming momentum.

It felt like the elves had become the real army.

Although the trolls did not drop their weapons and run, they couldn't help but their entire formation began to uncontrollably retreat. They wanted to retreat from the great plains in front of Silvermoon City back to the Eversong Woods, at least the complex terrain there could restrain the charge of the huge Arcane Guardians.

At least there, they wouldn't have to face that astonishing momentum that could make the earth tremble.
