It's important to know that within the Tirisfal Council, which aims to combat demons and prevent mages from overusing their magic, all members are selected from the Silvermoon Council and the Kirin Tor Council. One could say that these two councils are the vanguard against evil and the stronghold of justice.
Now, Antonidas openly declares that there are those within the Kirin Tor who conspire with demons! Everyone's first reaction was disbelief.
However, in the next moment, people began to think… it might be true. Why else would they have specifically invited the Archbishop of the Holy Light and the leader of the Paladins?
"Enough! Let the facts speak for themselves!" Antonidas' anger subsided slightly, and he turned to the Archbishop of the Holy Light, "Archbishop Faol, please."
Faol didn't hesitate, "Eliminating evil is one of our lifelong pursuits."
Protected by Uther, he strode to the center of the council chamber. He clasped his hands together, and a dazzling Holy Star emerged from his palms, its radiant light spreading throughout the chamber.
However, a second passed, then two seconds, then ten seconds… nothing happened.
No screams from demons, no leakage of evil energy, nothing.
Archbishop Alonsus and Uther were both a bit surprised. They had been informed by Duke and Antonidas to come here specifically to suppress demons, but now there was nothing?
A drop of cold sweat rolled down Antonidas' forehead as he couldn't help but turn his gaze to Duke. It was based on Duke's exposure of the possession of Medivh by Sargeras that Antonidas had placed nearly unconditional trust in him. Now, when they said there were demons but couldn't find any, wasn't that a huge embarrassment?
Duke was certainly to blame, but Antonidas' authority as chairman would also be significantly weakened.
For a moment, Antonidas' feelings towards Duke shifted from trust to hatred.
At this point, Duke slowly stood up and said calmly, "Demons are among us; there's no doubt about it. I just want to remind everyone that as times progress, our old enemy, the demons, are also evolving. Ten thousand years ago, would anyone have thought that the Demon King would stoop so low as to possess a human guardian?"
Everyone shuddered.
Indeed, they were all somewhat displeased by Medivh's betrayal of the entire human race. However, Duke's words made them even more vigilant.
Duke spoke again, "Curses! A new form of evil power. The Undead! A never-before-seen non-living life form. The emergence of these two things is what we must be vigilant about. Therefore, when traditional demon-testing techniques no longer work, I ask Archbishop Faol to research new detection methods."
Even though Duke hadn't proven himself wrong, the meticulous and never-lacking sense of justice Faol nodded in agreement.
"Very few people have an absolutely just or absolutely evil heart. Demons take advantage of this to evade the Holy Light's detection and infiltrate humanity to continue spreading evil and the Undead faith. In fact, Archbishop, you only need to incorporate the Holy Light into a psychic attack..."
Faol understood immediately and flipped his palm. The Holy Light's waves spread throughout the hall once more.
This time, finally, one council member bent over in pain.
"Ah!" Kel'Thuzad's poker face cracked, revealing the pale and lifeless skin beneath his normal complexion.
Even though Antonidas had already learned the truth from Duke, he was still shocked when witnessing this scene.
Beside Kel'Thuzad, Prince Kael'thas and Krasus, who were prepared, instantly raised their shields. They simultaneously cast over a hundred fireball spells, shattering Kel'Thuzad's magical barrier.
Uther, the strongest paladin in history, also joined the fray. With a single Holy Strike, he broke through Kel'Thuzad's defenses, directly attacking the evil soul.
Dizzy and disoriented, Kel'Thuzad had no time to summon his wicked creatures before Uther's hammer smashed into his face.
Like a high-flying baseball, Kel'Thuzad's body was sent soaring upwards by the force of the divine hammer. Unfortunately, he didn't fly far; an ice wall conjured by Antonidas stopped his ascent and sent him rebounding back.
Under the combined efforts of Antonidas and several others, Kel'Thuzad, one of the most powerful minions of the Lich King, was left utterly defenseless, like a helpless young girl.
Uther stepped on him, his hammer resting against Kel'Thuzad's forehead. Krasus and Kael'thas swiftly placed multiple seals on his body, leaving him as powerless as the most pathetic of skeleton soldiers.
Kel'Thuzad knew he was finished, so he gave in. "Why?! How did Duke *Markus know I abandoned life to pursue eternity? I only became a Lich last week. Even that vile demoness didn't know what I'd done. She thought I was just a fallen mentalist! Why? Tell me! Why?!"
Duke pointed to his own eyes, "Just as I saw through Sargeras possessing Medivh, I saw through you. I have eyes that can pierce the souls of those corrupted by demons."
As the dust settled, Antonidas approached. "Kel'Thuzad... I always admired your talent. That's why I agreed to have you become a member of the Kirin Tor council. I warned you, Kel'Thuzad! Don't delve into forbidden necromancy. You agreed on the surface, but secretly continued your experiments. When Duke told me, I immediately thought of you. However, I didn't believe it until the truth was fully exposed."
Antonidas' shoulders heaved, his eyes filled with uncontainable sorrow as he turned to Faol, Uther, and Duke. "I apologize for such an incident occurring within the Kirin Tor council of Dalaran. I humbly ask for your discretion. We will deal with Kel'Thuzad and provide a satisfactory resolution. Now, it is time for the Kirin Tor council..."
