Capítulo 39: Crossing the line
But how could Lin Xue take control of the situation? This was already out of hand!
Lin Xue could only stare sourly as Chen Xi and Lin Ye received all the attention.
The people who were there felt that Lin Ye looked quite familiar but they still could not recognize her after a while.
They watched as Lin Ye smiled towards the couple and gave her congratulatory messages.
Han Shuoxi and Lin Ye were smiling but their hearts said something different!
Lin Xue's eyes found someone in the room and she gave him a hidden nod, and the man disappeared in between the crowds.
Lin Xue laughed inside, 'Lin Ye, let us see how you will get out of the traps I have set for you today!'
One reporter moved closer to where they were, "Miss, the party today was invite only, may I know if you were invited by the family?"
The party was indeed invite only. Lin Ye did not have an invitation card but because she had arrived fashionably late in between the chaos, she got in without any interruption by security.
It seems as if Lin Xue was trying to use this to humiliate her in front of everyone but she did not know who she was dealing with.
Lin Ye looked at Lin Xue and smiled, her cheap tricks never seemed to amaze her.
She looked at the reporter, "Miss Lin Xue personally came together with her husband to invite me, of course I had to attend."
The crowd was amazed, Han Shuoxi and Lin Xue personally invited her?
Lin Xue's face turned as black as the bottom of a pot!
Her hands held Han Shuoxi's tightly as she signaled the reporter with her eyes!
The reporter got the hint and then turned the order of questions, "Miss, you are here today but not a single person knows who you are, can you please introduce yourself to us?"
The people listened closely to the reporters questions, they also wanted to know who she was.
Lin Ye smiled at the reporter, "Madam reporter, don't you think this should have been your first question?"
Her tone was mild and her voice extremely pleasant to listen to.
The reporter did not know how to go next but luckily, Lin Xue had prepared everything for her just in case Lin Ye came. She was also paid a large amount of money to smear dirt on Lin Ye's name.
She remembered the words and asked another question, "Miss, are you perhaps...Lin Ye?"
Once that name had been said, the place erupted in murmurs. Several people looked their way and exclaimed.
All over, people started getting out their phones and recording, this was Lin Ye?
The people never stopped recording, Lin Ye felt overwhelmed. Chen Xi held her by the waist and whispered, "Don't worry, I am here."
Lin Ye somehow calmed down. She looked at the reporter, "Yes I am."
The room erupted in a frenzy!
Reporters were shouting Lin Ye's name from all corners.
The first reporter asked again, "Your family was thrown out of the Lin family years ago, did they perhaps invite you back out of pity?"
The room became deathly quiet after that. Everything came to a standstill and they were waiting for Lin Ye to speak.
Lin Xue smirked but Lin Ye remained calm.
One reporter nudged the other, "Hey, don't you think you are crossing the line with your questions?"
The reporter looked at him and cursed, "As a reporter you have to be daring in order to get what you want! If we don't ask these questions then who will?"
The first one looked worried, "But look at the occasion! This is not a place to ask such questions!"
The first one replied, "What are you worried about? It's not like she can do anything can she? She is just a fallen eagle that does not have wings!"
The reporter could only keep quiet after that but he could not help but feel a little worried.
Chen Xi studied the reporter who was asking Lin Ye questions and stayed quiet.
Lin Ye on the other hand smiled deeply. The smile was like the sun setting over a lake, mysterious yet enchanting.
She laughed slowly, "He!"
