When Ana heard the sound of hooves and the return of Garrison, she ran to the window and looked for the carriage.
He returned but not alone. There were two men following him. They were wearing simple rough wool cloth that belonged to commoners. While one of them looked like a physician. Others would confuse Ana for a beggar.
She left the room and waited for them at the first step of the stairs.
Garrison walked in and found her immediately waiting for her. He dismissed all the maids around them in the name of an unknown disease. He told them one of the maids had already caught it and he did not want the other to get it.
He gave them paid leave of two days. The maid was touched and concerned and promised to return soon and take good care of Rowan.
Once everyone was gone, the man joined Ana and bowed their heads.
