The next morning Cyrus and the girls left Theramore Isle atop horses rather than the dragons. Margaery and Marcella both wanted to see the difference between their own world and this one. While Daenerys didn't care too much she still enjoyed seeing new things and since the weather had cleared up they felt it was the perfect time to explore.
But once they came across the large spiders and slimes that roam the swampy sections, instantly they wanted to return to the skies.
Knowing it wasn't a good idea to fly to their destination since it would alert the dragon kin, Cyrus had them follow the road instead of cutting through the swampy area. He even brought them to the goblin town Mudsprocket so they could meet their first goblin and Ogre.
While Cyrus and the women travelled thru Duskwallow and a few hours after they had left a portal opened just outside the mage tower in Theramore and a beautiful blonde woman appeared wearing a purple and white robe that showed her as a mage of the Korin Tor.
Jaina had felt a disturbance in the magical arrays that she had set up within her room in the castle but due to the strategy meeting they were having in order to best rescue Alduin she couldn't come when she felt the arrays signal.
Although she was tired due to the lack of sleep the last few days she quickly made her way to her room within the keep.
As she made her way into the castle she heard many whispers and chuckles from the guards. Using her magic to improve her hearing as she strolled to her room, she quickly came to a stop once she heard what two guards had said.
"You think she knows Prince Arthas was just here and that's why she rushed back so suddenly?"
"Hehe maybe, but he left with his party of women early this morning. Wouldn't want to be in the commanders shoes right now. Thank god I'm just a guard."
Immediately she decided to confirm what they said by going to the commanders office rather than her room.
Upon entering she noticed Commander Samaul was writing something onto a parchment.
"You better have that report on the deserters and their location..." Samaul started to speak but as soon as he looked up and saw Lady Jaina standing there he immediately stopped.
"Lady Jaina, we weren't expecting your ship for another few days. I apologize for not receiving you and King Valian." Samaul stated as he prepared to quickly leave to greet the King.
"I am here alone, I used a portal to return ahead of the ship due to feeling something happened while I was away. Your guards are mentioning Prince Arthas was here, is this true? He should be in Northrend to fight the Lich King and the scourge." Jaina questioned.
"Aye, he did my Lady. Was with a group of adventurers, asked about recent happenings in the area and after that requested his usual room. Is there a problem?" Samaul explained.
"No problem, did he mention what he was doing back so soon?" Jaina continued to question after a moment of racking her brain over what he was doing back so soon.
"Nothing specific, tho he was particularly interested in the activities to the south in the Wyrmbog." Samaul answered her while studying her expressions.
"Did he say anything specific?" Jaina wasn't sure but something felt off. She had been having a feeling of deja'vu for the last few weeks until now. Something was different and it felt refreshing.
"My Lady, I'm not sure what you're asking. He only asked for the recent reports on the dragon and her subordinate movements, tho it seemed he knew already what was going on after reading the reports. I think he came from Menethil Harbor since he was found on that dock." Samaul answered with one eyebrow raised questioningly.
However Jaina didn't answer, she has had a feeling that something was off. She felt like her life has been in a loop but she can't remember where it began or ended but everything felt strangely familiar, like she already knew what was going to happen before it did. Until now.
Now she has found something that no longer felt planned. Something unexpected.
Without saying a word Jaina left Samaul's office and headed to the mage tower to have one of the other mages travel back thru her portal back onto the Kings ship so that he would have a mage at his disposal if needed. She wasn't planning on returning to the ship, she had to follow the trail of Arthas.
She knew he was the key, her instinct had been screaming that something isn't right. She had been looking for answers in the many tombs and grimores searching for what was wrong. For a while she thought she was going mad, or that a new ability was manifesting but even if she was developing something like precognitive abilities it shouldn't feel wrong.
After watching the mage enter her portal she quickly closed it and summoned her mount the Glacial Tidestorm. A massive water elemental appeared before, stretching out it hand Jaina stepped unto the hand and it placed her on its shoulder.
Using her connection to the elemental to tell it where she wanted to go, after receiving its direction the Glacial Tidestorm flew up into the sky heading to the Wyrmbog.
Just as Jaina took off in the direction of Onyxia's Lair, Cyrus and his group were just entering the cave after dealing with the black dragonkin that patrolled outside.
Cyrus had the girls do most of the fighting knowing they needed to get some warm up before the big fight with Onyxia.
Luckily Marcella had switched her focus from healing to more of a protection spec after seeing Cyrus fight, she had in the beginning enjoyed being able to heal people, and she still did.
However, after witnessing Cyrus use his abilities to not just heal but also to protect those he cares for a new passion had grown within her unlocking her potential for growth towards her new goal.
She wanted to protect those she cared for, not just stand there and heal after the damage was done. She slowly began to truly understand the power and role of a paladin. They were righteous warriors who harnessed their fury and channeled it into their attacks and defenses.
Using their Righteous Fury they were able to reduce their damage received and increase their damage output by a bit. In the beginning she didn't feel she had chosen the right class cause she was very timid and slow to anger. She had been tortured by her eldest brother for as long as she could remember.
But as she began her training under Justicar Julia Celeste she began to understand the difference between anger, rage and fury.
Especially when she thought back on when Joffrey would turn his attention to her younger brother Tommen. She hated it and did all she could to shield him from Joffrey but when he pressed she became timid and lost, especially when their own mother just brushed off what Joffrey was doing as childish fights.
She knew better, her brother would have no issues torturing and killing her and Tommen without a doubt. She felt helpless and alone, furious that her own mother consented to the treatment they received at the hand of their brother.
Stepping forward and fighting the Dragonkin and focusing that fury felt invigorating. Bashing your enemy with the shield and judgements. It was exhilarating.
Daenerys and Margaery too improved their team work. Daenerys had followed the path of Destruction for Warlocks while Margaery was following the Holy path for the most part but also a bit of the shadow for she wasn't all good.
Much like her grandmother Olenna Tyrell she had a calculated mind.
Although her kindness towards the small folk and the poor wasn't fake, it wasn't completely genuine, in fact their was a reason for it. She knew that the best way for her family to hold power over Highgarden was to have the people on their side too, something many lords in the south neglected.
Unlike most southerners Margaery felt a fondness for the North due to most northern lords did look out for their small folk which was why they were so loyal to the Starks.
After clearing out the guards that roamed outside they entered the Onyxia's Lair each of the three women experiencing a mixture of excitement and fear. They knew they would be facing an ancient dragon within the cave.
Just as Cyrus entered a shudder moved down his spine causing him to look back towards Theramore.
'Why do I get the feeling I'm missing something dangerous? King Valian and Jaina aren't due to arrive for a few days, did I leave something in the room? Well I don't see anything missing and although I detected those magic trap Jaina set up I didn't find it necessary to just disarm discreetly, afterall after I grab Alduin we will be leaving.' Cyrus thought to himself as he entered behind Alexstrasza.
Upon entering the cave the women were amazed by the nuance of it, rather than being dark it had a reddish light from all the magma heated rocks which glowed red.
Inside there where more of the same Draginkin that was outside but just bigger. Within Onyxia's domain her subordinates were stronger, going from normal to elite giving their size, strength and health a increase.
Without hesitation Marcella moved forward and began her assault as Daenerys and Cyrus attacked from the back, Cyrus had switched into his Shaman armor and dropping down totems to assist in making Marcella tougher with the stonskin and windfury totems while also dropping a mana spring and flametongue totem to help Daenerys and Margaery.
Alexstrasza continued to heal the group, her affinity to Life making her the ultimate healer. She was pretty much five healers in one. She had access to the healing abilities of all healing specs plus a few of her own which is what made her the most powerful of them.
Although she herself may not have the strongest attack power out of the dragonflight but whatever side she fought on would have an overwhelming advantage due to her being able to keep her comrades alive thru even the most strongest of attacks.
As they made their way thru the cave and eliminated each of the patrols one by one and finally arriving at Onyxia herself who was currently resting due to the previous battle at Stormwind, outside the cave Jaina had arrived and saw the multiple bodies of dragonkin scattered around the entrance.
'I can feel Arthas' light, it is him. What he he doing here and not in Northrend. Last report had him leading the assault on the Citadel to begin the assault on the Lich King. Did something go wrong? I must know, I have a feeling he knows why I am having this feeling that everything is wrong.' Jaina thought to herself as she dismissed her elemental mount to enter the lair.
Suddenly the ground shook and a gust of hot air accompanied by a roar shot out of the lair knocking the unprepared Jaina to the ground.
Understanding exactly what was happening Jaina quickly blinked from her position on the ground into the cave.
Half way into the cave she begain hearing the battle taking place with the occasional female shout calling out targets and directions.
Blinking and running towards the fight to get there as quickly as she could, upon reaching the main area she was stunned by the sight.
Arthas in an armor she was all to familiar with was holding his own against the onslaught of Onyxia while she saw three woman, another paladin a warlock and a priest were doing what they could to hold back the many dragon whelps that Onyxia had summoned with much difficulty.
Rather than watch in amazement Jaina joined the fight against the whelps seeing that they were slowly being overwhelmed.
Casting her area of effect spells [Blizzard] and [Flamestrike] she too began to assist in the battle. Her power greatly reducing many of the whelps directly into ash or frozen solid and shattering after impacting the ground.
Cyrus who had been keeping an eye on the girls situation, ready to use [Intervine] along with [Divine Sacrifice] at a moments notice, froze for a moment upon seeing who entered the fight.
Onyxia seeing an opening used a powerful blow that knocked Cyrus back and embedded him into the wall, the pain brought Cyrus' mind back into the fight as he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
Feeling the healing spell taking effect Cyrus pushed himself out of the cave way, causing much of it to collapse.
Onyxia flew up into the air and began launch fire breaths down onto the group since she felt that the ground battle wasn't falling into her favor.
"Alexstrasza, you will pay for interfering with my plans. After I finish dealing with your champion and his friends I will deal with you. Just because the other dragons submitted to you doesn't mean you can do as you please." Onyxia shouted in frustration seeing Cyrus getting back up so quickly.
Then seeing little Alduin who was now visible close to Cyrus since the crevice he was hiding in had been opened up after he had crashed into the wall, Onyxia knew if she got her hands on the boy she would win the battle.
Cyrus, knowing exactly what Onyxia wanted to do used blink to arrive in front of Alduin and launched a [Lava Blast] right into Onyxia's face which blinded long enough for Cyrus to combo [Slam] and [Overpower] which forced Onyxia back into the air.
"Don't worry little Prince, we will have you out of here in no time." Arthas looked to the girls after ensuring Alduin was ok.
'Well going to have to end this soon, don't know what Jaina is doing here but a welcome assistance. Damn Arthas was a lucky man, she looks good.' Cyrus thought as he changed out of his Lights Vanguard paladin set into his mage Runebound Regalia set. He knew he had to bring Onyxia down quickly or her summoning of subordinates would never end and they would get overwhelmed.
