Capítulo 162: Chapter 159

I really really didn't want to leave Austin alone. Not when he was so upset, and I even found myself contemplating whether or not to stay with him. But that would have meant standing Reign up. I was really conflicted, but I knew that if it really came down to picking one, it would have to be Austin. No questions asked. But he made things easier when he told me to go ahead and help Max.

" We're just gonna wait for Will to get here, " he told me, saying it would probably take some time and there was no use for me to just idly wait around when I had other plans. But I could see that he was seriously angry but trying not to show it. The entire incident was yet another long conversation that we had to have, but that wasn't the time. Because they were sure it was intentional, and I was certain it wasn't really anyone from school.

" My parents picked the worst time to take away my car, this just sucks " Miles stated, shaking his head as he looked around. I had seen him get picked up by his mum the previous day and had wondered about it. Normally when you got to the parking lot his ride was one of the first ones you saw.

But I wasn't surprised that he'd done something wrong and had it taken away, because although him and Austin had a lot of differences, there were also a number of similarities between them.

" You sure you don't want me to stay? I don't mind," I did a little bit but I needed to make sure first. He traced his thumb over my brow before placing a soft kiss on top, then he nodded his reassurance. His hands fisted as if he was barely holding on to his self control. I had been planning to spend atleast fourty minutes with Reign but I'd make it less. Just so I could check on Austin and ensure he didn't do anything absurd.

" I'm fine, go ahead. Just call me once you're back at the store safely, okay?"

I slowly nodded. Glancing at his bike once more and feeling even worse. I was sure it would cost a lot to have it fixed and that really made the issue get on my nerves. The worst part being that I couldn't snap at all since I had to be the one to keep Austin level. Before leaving I asked Miles to keep an eye on Austin for me. He was there, so he heard the request and complained that he didn't need any looking after, but I knew what I was talking about. And the look Miles gave me was proof that he understood as well. I only left once he gave me his word. If I later on met up with Austin and found him in an undesirable state some of the blame would go to Miles.

I had put a lot of thought into where Reign and I would meet, and the only place I could come up with was a cafe situated one floor above the local library. It was quite a distance so after thanking Max and asking him to get home quick and safe, I took a taxi. I didn't want Austin to see him walking alone on the street because it would only arise suspicion. The taxi got me there in less than twenty minutes. I spotted Reign's car in the distance, proof that he had already arrived, so I rushed in. He had probably been waiting for me for a while.

The cafe was mostly just packed during the weekends, but on normal weekdays it was just a few people who went there. I had never gone there on weekdays unless it was during the holidays, so that was a first.

Reign's eyes had been fixed on the entrance, so he saw me the second I arrived and waved at me. I walked over to him, taking a second to glance at the wall clock to check how much time I had taken to get there as well as how long I could stay. It was going to be hard to concentrate while I was burning with the need to console Austin till he calmed down entirely. He had been holding it together for my sake and it pained me. Especially since I accepted the fact that he never intended to go off the way he usually did. It wasn't his wish to be controlled by his anger, and he was trying to change that.

Reign stood up when I got there, then he casually gave me a hug as if it was the most natural thing in the world. It wasn't the normal two second awkward hug followed by the odd back-tapping which most people exchanged out of respect. He literally pulled me in for a hug, smiling when he pulled back. And before he sat he warmly patted the top of my head and asked me how I was.

" I'm good, have you been waiting long?"

" Nah, I got here like five minutes ago. "

There were chances that was a lie but I rolled with it. He was wearing a black bucket hat, I wasn't particularly a fan of them but it appeared as if there wasn't any outfit he wore which looked bad on him. It wasn't even about the clothes, he just wore them and they changed entirely. I suppose he was one of those trendy people that had found their signature style and could expertly express it.

The clothes were all nice, but what caught all most of my attention was the lovely pieces of jewelry he had on.

" You got all dressed up and I asked that we meet here, such a shame huh?" I joked and he laughed, looking down at himself as he did so.

" Hate to burst your bubble but all this effort was for my airport pics by the paparazzi. What a great loss, "

With time I had realized that Reign's grip on sarcasm was quite strong. Most of the times when he made sarcastic remarks I almost fell for them. But the more we talked the better I became at quickly catching on.

" Is that a guitar?" I asked, referring to the pendant on his pearl necklace, it was slightly hidden between his shirt so he retrieved it and nodded. Holding it for me to easily admire.

" It's really pretty, and did you get another piercing?"

His brows shot up as if I had surprised him. Then he touched his cartilage and nodded, he wasn't really wearing another earring or anything, I just noticed it because it was something about him that had changed.

" Just yesterday evening, but it was too itchy so I took it off. How the hell did you notice that?"

" I'm good with details. "

" I bet you are. "

I was mostly thirsty, so when he tried to get me to order something to eat I politely refused. He insisted a bit more before giving up and ordering for himself. And he must have been starving since he got three pieces of cheese cake, a milkshake and a bowl of strawberries and dipping chocolate, which I didn't even know was sold there. And all I got was an iced Americano.

" I've been dieting for like two weeks now, I think I deserve a cheat day. "

" You both diet and workout?"

" Yap, my company is pretty strict on appearance. But I like it too so it's cool, if it weren't for the rule I'd look nothing like I do. "

" Why am I suddenly so curious to see how you'd look otherwise?"

" Just picture me with a Chris Stapleton type beard, a few more pounds and a toothpick between my lips, "

" So I should just picture a country boy?"

" Precisely!"

I shivered, pretending to shake off the thought. But I knew he was joking so I laughed afterwards.

" I read some reviews of this place on my way here, one guy said and I quote ' Their cheesecake made me believe that life is indeed worth living '...no way I'm leaving without trying it. "

" That guy must have really loved the cheesecake, but then again, it's cheesecake.. everyone loves cheesecake!"

" I think you just gave me the title of my next song. 'Everyone loves Cheesecake' by Reign, a song full of inspiring love and the value of life. " he was gazing into space as he said that, and I acted as if I was about to hit him, so he put his hands up in a gesture of peace and leaned back. Then he rubbed his hands together and got ready to take a bit of the cake. It looked good, so much so that I was tempted to order my own piece, but I held back. I wanted to eat something with Austin later on, perhaps if I bought him his favorite food and snacks he'd cheer up a bit.

The instant Reign too a bite, I could tell it was good. His eyes brightly lit up and he just nodded at me. Giving me a thumbs up as he took another bite.

" My God! I might just cancel all my future plans and stay here for the sake of this. I've discovered something magical!" He excitedly declared after a few more stuffed bites.

" That good?"

Instead of replying, he placed the plate in the middle of the table and gave me the fork. If it had been someone else, apart from Austin that is, I literally wouldn't have used the same fork that had just been used, but with him it felt okay. Like it wasn't that big a deal.

And I wanted it to be a big deal. It was a good thing he was leaving soon because he was seriously dangerous, he acted like he wasn't but he knew what he was doing.
