Ava found herself at a loss for words, unsure of how to respond to the young boy in front of her. The idea of having a meal together with Lukas and William was something she was reluctant to consider after the mistake she had made the previous night with William, a mistake she couldn't possibly explain to Lukas.
As Lukas enthusiastically requested, "Ava, would you join us for dinner?" her heart sank. The thought of sitting down for a meal with William was a daunting prospect. She had unintentionally crossed a boundary that she couldn't easily mend, and her sense of guilt was overwhelming.
Ava gently cleared her throat, struggling to find the right words to address Lukas's request. "Lukas, I appreciate your invitation, but I think it might not be a good idea," she began hesitantly, avoiding direct eye contact. "You see, your dad values the time you two spend together during meals. I wouldn't want to disrupt that."
