Capítulo 28: Spatial Ring

The man kept looking condescendingly at those eight failures. None of them dared to raise their heads to meet his gaze.

Then, the man looked at Andrew and Eve as he nodded approvingly.

Andrew and Eve bowed respectfully since both of them wanted to get into good graces with one of the higher-ups of Blood Devil Corps.

The man smiled with satisfaction since they knew their place even though they are the only true winners of the examination.

Of course, he understood that those two were acting all respectful just for political connections. He didn't find it odd or disrespectful. After all, he himself had done so when he was nothing more than a Bottom Demon.

It was a natural way of things and life. Moreover, he wouldn't mind having ties with promising demons as he also wanted to curry the favor of possible future pillars of Demonic Abode.

Blood Devil Corps is one of the five corps under the jurisdiction of Bronze Nobles, so it wasn't a far fetched thing to assume that those two will have a bright future just from seeing the examination results, but the man also understood that only time will show and that some flowers might blossom later and brighter than others.

The man then looked back at the failures with evident disdain.

"I hope you all understand your positions and will not act all cocky since you managed to survive by our grace" his voice exuded an icy chill as eight misfits' entire beings quacked.

"Work harder or you will never enter our eyes" he added that last line to not accidentally break the spirits of those people.

After all, this event was fate-deciding to them, meaning that they experience enormous amounts of stress all the time. He knew if he pushed them a bit further with insults and humiliation, some of them might not be able to bear it and will outright kill themselves, but who said that they will succeed?

The arrays will quickly bring them back from the doorsteps of death as long as their souls haven't dissipated.

And after that, the real hell begins. The Enforcement Hall will come knocking on their doors. They will be dragged into the deepest parts of the dungeon. There, they will quickly realize how precious life is.

"From now on, you are class-0 members of Blood Devil Corps. Unless you become mages none of you will be qualified to transition to class-1 blood devil. You must respect the seniority in Blood Devil Corps" the man said.

"Of course, if your senior commands you to kill yourself, you may kill the senior if you can" the man added with a smirk.

"Now you will be placed into the dormitory, unless you become a mage you will not get your own private room" the man said as the next moment the scenery in front of everyone's eyes shifted.

They appeared in a plain-looking cave, same old torches illuminated the space even though they had night vision. There was a single big metal door in front of them.

The man approached it as he took out a token. He knocked on the rocky wall couple of times as a slit appeared. He placed the token in as the door slowly opened.

"Your energy signatures have been recorded, tomorrow a person will come and tour you around the ground of the corps of Demonic Abode. Remember not to create any trouble, even if you passed the exam you are nothing but dust that can be brushed off anytime" as soon as he said those words he disappeared.

The newly made blood devils looked at each other with varying emotions. Some of them blamed everything on Andrew while others had a seed of fear sprout in their hearts.

This person was the cause of their downfall. Although, the demons were pragmatic, it didn't mean that they weren't vengeful as fuck.

They held deep grudges for the rest of their lives and if Andrew doesn't eliminate them, in the near future they will become a major pain in the ass. Of course, Andrew understood it and already had schemes brewing in his mind.

In demonic society, it was better to kill your enemies the moment they become one since the trouble they create is astronomical.

Of course, not all of them died because of Andrew, but a person who put a fire on the entire biome.

They didn't know who exactly did it and will never do since Eve didn't have any plans to reveal the fact that she was the mastermind behind the curtains.

Andrew didn't bother even looking at them any longer as he directly entered the dormitory. The place was spacious and was decorated with the same old stony furniture.

But there were two doors leading to the two separate dormitories which were for men and women. They had signs hung above the doors so only the blind or perverted would choose the opposite gender door...

Andrew was none of them.

He entered the men's dormitory as a big room with ten 2-story stone bunk beds unfolded in his view.

Once again he chose the upper bed which was in the middle of the room.

Naturally, this particular choice had a strategic meaning behind it. In case someone barges into the room with malicious intentions he would be able to timely react and he will not be cornered in the back of the room if he chooses the farthest bunk bed.

Andrew always tried to get the best out of any situation. He was an exploitative person. In his past life, he had mostly hired cheap labor from war-time undeveloped countries and most of them consisted of immigrants.

Naturally, there wasn't anything common between conscience and big money. He was a businessman not some kind of saint.

Soon, the new members of Blood Devil Corps slowly entered and chose their places. There were only 3 women and 7 men so the women's dormitory had much more spare space left.

Even the men's dormitory was mostly left empty since there were only 7 men while the space was enough to house 30 people.

It was still afternoon so Andrew went out to look for Distribution Point. He looked around the space trying to find an exit. He touched the walls to find the exit.

Eventually, after an hour of search, he pressed a particular rock and a tunnel unfolded. Without hesitation, Andrew went through it as he had to spend another hour just to find the next switch so the tunnel's end will open.

He didn't understand why they simply didn't tell them the right switches. Moreover, it seemed pointless to make hidden entrances since they could be easily found out even by a mortal.

Truly, such mechanisms were out of place in a world of magic since an unenchanted stone wall could be blown up into pieces with a simple spell of Initial Apprentice Mage.

The hidden entrance opened and Andrew was more than happy to exit it. The moment he stepped out of this place another cave unfolded.

Andrew's brows furrowed as he didn't understand why he appeared in an empty cave once again.

'Is it a mental test?' such thought couldn't help but cross his mind. He found such tests unnecessary since survivors were already qualified to be considered as blood devils since the examination was a mental test itself where a person had to fully use their mind to remain alive.

He had to spend another hour just to find the next switch...

Another tunnel unfolded...

Andrew did it again and again...

He spent 12 hours just to solve a fucked up puzzle...

But Andrew was unbothered by it since he estimated it to be just past midnight.

Eventually, the last goddamn cave appeared in his view. Andrew wasn't irritated even one bit since such training was beneficial to forge a sturdy will, even though he already had an unbreakable one to begin with...

At the opposite side of the tunnel entrance, sat an unremarkable old man with a long white beard. He watched Andrew with lazy and half-closed eyes. He looked like he would fall asleep at any moment.

"A visitor" the old man muttered.

"Boy, come here and pick up your prize" the old man gestured for Andrew to come closer.

Andrew wondered what it might be as he took slow steps towards the old man.

In the meantime, the old man took out a big backpack. It was 2 meters tall and 1 meter thick.

Andrew was surprised not by the backpack, but by the fact that this old man had a Spatial Ring!

Spatial Ring is an object that contains independent space. The capacity depends on the grade and the way this object was made.

Andrew naturally came to know this after reading tons of books.

"This is your monthly rations, it has everything that you might need" the old man said as the scenery in Andrew's shifted. He was warped back into the dormitory's cave!

Andrew wasn't disappointed by the fact that this was merely his monthly rations, but more excited to personally see the powers of Spatial Ring!

'I need to get one' he mentally noted as he turned around and entered the dormitory.
