Capítulo 31: The Blair Forest (2)
"So, what did you think?" Grace asked as she showed the mirror to Jacob.
"Hm, it turned out better than I thought it would."
"What? How did you think it would look?"
"It's better you don't know. Anyway, I'm going to take a shower now, and you try to get some sleep."
Grace pouted sadly, but quickly returned to normal and asked:
"Why are we going after this witch? When I asked you that in the dungeon, you ended up not answering me."
"This witch has what I am looking for." Jacob gave a vague answer that piqued Grace's curiosity:
"Oh? And what are you looking for?"
"Revelations and mostly answers..."
"Answers and Revelations? What kind of answers?" Grace asked confused and very curious, but jacob just gave her a smile and walked into the bathroom.
"Eh?" Grace looked shocked at jacob who came out after throwing that bomb, but soon after she calmed her tempers and said while trying to keep calm:
"Breathe Grace, breathe Grace... It's not the first time he's left me dying of anxiety..." After a few minutes, Grace kept her calm and sighed wearily. Then she started burning her hair on the floor with magic and went to sleep.

In the morning, Jacob opened his eyes after the first beam of light came into his eyes. He carefully looked to the side and found Grace sleeping like an angel. She seemed to be in a very good sleep, so Jacob decided not to wake her yet.
He quietly got up and went to the bathroom to do his needs. After finishing everything, he stretched a little to start the day with a good body and left the room.

Going down the stairs, jacob started to hear the voice of three people talking, it seemed to be a man, a woman and a child.
When he got completely down the stairs, Jacob noticed three pairs of eyes staring at him, which belonged respectively to the people who were talking. But something that had caught Jacob's attention was that the woman and the child, a girl by the way, had animal ears in their hair and a tail.
Hm, so these are the famous demi-humans...' Seeing a demi-human for the first time, Jacob was surprised by their appearance, but he didn't let that shake him and walked over to the counter to get something to eat.
"Hey, my name is john Yamaguchi." The man who was with the two demi-humans said that as he extended his hand to greet him. Being a man of etiquette, Jacob shook the man's hand and said:
"Jacob."
"Right, this is my wife Angela and my daughter Ariana." John spoke that as he pointed to the woman and child. The two then bent down to greet Jacob and he just gave a brief nod of his head and observed the appearance of the three people intently.
John had white hair and green eyes, he had handsome, mature features. He looked like he was in his early thirties.
Angela was a demi-human, but Jacob could not identify which species she was. Her face was beautiful to say the least, with beautiful, youthful features. Her hair was pink mixed with blue and her eyes were as blue as her hair. She looked as if she was at least 18 years old.
Ariana the demi-human child, was really small and with childish features, but she seemed to try to behave like an adult. Her hair was white like her father's and her eyes were blue like her mother's.
After noting everyone's appearance, jacob asked john:
"Yamaguchi... If you have two names, then it means you are a nobleman."
"Haha, yes... But I am a low-ranking nobleman who operates in a small province."
"Hm... Were they slaves?" Jacob asked while looking at the demi-humans and to his surprise Angela made a fierce face upon hearing the word slave, it looked like she was ready to attack Jacob at any moment.
"Unfortunately Angela was a slave.... But Ariana wasn't, she was born a few years ago." John was answering jacob's rude question with a bit of guilt and his daughter walked up to him curious and asked:
"Daddy, What is a slave?"
Hearing that question, john was shocked and not knowing what to answer, but to his luck, his wife went over and saved him by saying:
"Slaves are people who have lost their freedom, so you should always help them when you have the opportunity."
"Hm, so you had no freedom, Mama?"
"Unfortunately I didn't... But fortunately your father saved me years ago, so I am free now."
"Ohh!!! Was Daddy that amazing?"
"Yes, he was." Angela smiled at john and took Ariana on her lap and said as she walked up the stairs:
"I'm going to take her to brush her teeth."
"All right, I'll finish talking to jacob and I'll be right up."
Angela nodded and disappeared as she walked up the stairs....
Jacob just carefully observed the abilities of a demi-human, why they are an isolated race. Humans think they are extinct, but the truth is that they have hidden themselves from the outside world in an unknown place. The only humans on this planet who have managed to obtain information about where they live is Raphael and his harem.
"So, how about we sit down for a drink?" John asked Jacob and he replied casually:
"As long as you don't ask questions about me..." Jacob replied and the two together sat down in front of the counter.
"We'll have two beers." John said to the clerk and he started to prepare the two beers.
"Do you usually drink alcohol at breakfast?" Jacob asked and john answered clumsily:
"Haha, it's one in the afternoon somewhere, right? Anyway, I hear you and your partner are going to accompany us on today's expedition."
"You guys are going with us?"
"Yes, as much as I am a nobleman, I am still an adventurer."
"What about your family?"
"Angela is not an adventurer, nor is Ariana."
"Then why are they going on the expedition with you?" Jacob asked confused and john answered as he sighed:
"Angela doesn't want to let me go into the forest alone, she seems to be going crazy, saying she dreams of my death and stuff like that..."
"You should listen to her, after all, you are a nobleman. Now the question of a million is... Why on earth is a nobleman an adventurer?" At this point, the two beers arrived and john answered as he drank:
"Ahhhhhh, I am a small nobleman, with no influence and little money. I am an ambitious person, I want to move up in life! I want to have enough money to buy as many horses as I want! I want to be able to give a princess life to my wife and my daughter."
"And you think you will achieve that by being an adventurer? What rank are you?"
"Adventurers can earn millions of golds by finding a magic sword in a dungeon and my rank is gold."
"Hm, I've met men like you. Usually they die by monsters or are betrayed and killed by their own companions."
"Haha, I really will die one day and it will be of old age next to my wife."
"Sigh... Don't go into the forest, I'm sure you will die."
"What? Why?"
"Because you're too dumb and you're a good man, so make sure you look for another way up in life." Jacob only cares about grace and himself. He didn't care if john decided to go into the woods, but jacob gave that advice out of respect for john's wife and daughter.
"No! I've had enough of this! I can't keep being a coward! And if by some chance that forest is really cursed, I'm going to draw my sword and slit that damned witch's throat!"
"Sigh, You can go if you want, but know that if you die, your daughter will grow up without a father."
"I'm aware of that! But I'm betting big... The depths of that forest have never been explored, so they must have treasures, lots of gold, silver and maybe, an artifact! And I'm only going because you and your diamond rank partner are going along. Otherwise, I wouldn't be going."
Jacob began to laugh as he listened to that man's nonsense, but he respected him....
'A man who puts his ambitions in front of a father's responsibilities...' Jacob thought that and took all the beer in one gulp, and smiling, he said to john:
"My name is Jacob voss, nice to meet you, john Yamaguchi."
