Capítulo 7: Fate's Chosen

-6 years, 4 months A.R-

Five months have passed since I completed my research on deviant elements. I showed it to my family. Their reactions were like night and day, though. Gramps decided to just laugh it off, Mom and Dad were awestruck and left speechless, and Tess just thought it was cool.

Speaking of Tess, she's currently been missing for the past five days. As for the reason why I'm not out there desperately searching for her, it all goes a few days ago and my discussion with fate...

*Flashback to five days ago*

Gramps, Mom, Dad, and I were all seated around a table with Alex standing to the side.

"Tess is missing." Gramps declared with a solemn tone.

The moment I heard the news, the room was instantly filled with a strong deathly pressure. Gramps, the only one who could withstand my bloodlust, said:

"Azz! Calm down! Releasing your bloodlust here will do nothing!"

"I am calm. I merely demonstrated what I will do to the Human Kingdom if I find out Tess became a slave." I said as I canceled my bloodlust.

"Such a strong killing intent for someone so young." I heard Alex mutter under his breath.

Gramps and I both stared at him when we heard this.

"*Ahem*! For now, I've ordered some of my men to search for her within the vicinity of the capital." Alex, who noticed our stares, said to change the topic.

"Good work, Alex." Gramps praised him.

"That won't be enough." I stated.

In an instant, everyone turned to look at me asking for an explanation for what I said.

"Why do you say so, sweetie?" Mom asked.

"Because, in the likelihood that Tess was kidnapped by slave traders, the slave traders would most likely try to get as far away from the capital as they can. So, I suggest we strategically place several squads near the border where they're more likely to exit."

"That's a good idea, You Highness. But do you know what route they'll use?" Alex asked.

"Do you have a map of the country and a pen I can use?" I inquired.

"Here."

He handed me a map and a pen. I spread the map out on the table and outlined the 3 routes they were going to most likely use and wrote an exit on their 3 exits.

"Factoring in terrain, the current season, the weather, and natural wildlife, these are the most likely routes and exits they're going to use. It's either that, or they're idiots who didn't plan things through."

"And the chances of you being outsmarted?" Gramps asked me, skeptical about my confidence.

"Incredibly unlikely, I already memorized all the contents of the books in the library; this includes the factors I just mentioned. Also, I highly doubt that some incredibly intelligent strategist would join a bunch of slave traders instead of joining their military." I retorted.

"That's true... For now, let's follow your suggestion... Alex, place some squads in these areas. Be sure to have them hidden at all times, we want to cut off their escape route and ambush them." Gramps said.

"Understood, Your Highness." Alex replied as he left the room to relay Gramps' orders.

...

A few moments after Alex left, Dad asked:

"Son, what did you mean by you having memorized everything in the library?"

"Yes, I wish to know that as well." Mom backed up Dad's question.

"Ah that... What I said was true. I've read every book in the library except for a few about magic." I responded.

"But, how?"

"I simply read 6-8 books a day within 2 years."

"I knew we left you to your own devices after giving you permission to use the library, but I didn't think you would read everything within just 2 years..." Mom said, still shocked.

"Bah! I'm not even surprised anymore! Compared to the things you showed me in the past, reading 5000 books is nothing! The best thing to do is to consider everything you do as the work of a supergenius and call it a day!" Gramps yelled.

Ignoring Gramps' statement, I asked:

"Moving on... How did Tess even go out of the Capital? And why?"

When I said this, Dad's expression instantly turned sour. Taking note of this, I raised an eyebrow and gave a questioning look.

"Tess and I had a little argument. It was about her classes on proper mannerisms." He said with a regretful tone.

"*sigh* Dad, Tess is only 4... Despite you not explicitly saying it, I can tell you put the same amount of expectations on Tess as you do on me. It's time you see Tess not as you see me, but as Tess, herself." I said, ignoring the fact that it would look weird seeing a child lecturing a grown man.

Hearing this, Dad removed the regretful look on his face, and changed it to a determined expression.

"You're right... Thanks, Son. I needed that... Though, I still can't believe I got lectured by my 5-year-old son." Dad said with a little chuckle at the end.

After that, the atmosphere changed to a more determined and hopeful one.

...

-A few minutes later-

After the meeting ended, we all left the meeting room and went our separate ways.

When I entered my room and made sure no one could hear me, I said with an annoyed tone:

"So, what did you want to tell me, Fate? You've been pestering me since the start of the meeting."

In response, the fate particles clustered together in the form of an androgynous humanoid like last time.

{I wish for you to not interfere in this situation; my chosen one will escort her back here in five days.} Fate telepathically said.

{You know that isn't a good enough reason for me to not interfere. If you want me to sit back and watch, show me what your plan is, first; and don't even bother showing a fake one, I can tell.} I demanded.

{Fine.}

Fate went closer to me and pressed its forehead on mine, showing me a vision of the future.

Within the vision, I see a human boy with brown hair and bright blue eyes saving my sister from slave traders. The boy looked to be the same age as my sister, around 4 years old. He also seems to have already awakened as a mage.

"The people who tried to kidnap you aren't going to chase you anymore. Do you think you can make it back home by yourself?" The boy said.

Forcefully stopping the vision prematurely, I asked Fate:

{A four-year-old boy is your chosen one? Aside from his immense potential for magic, I don't see anything special about him.}

To which its response was:

{Do not merely look at the surface, look deeper.}

I played the vision, once again. This time, peering deep into the boy's soul. When I saw it, I realized what Fate meant.

{The boy is a reincarnated one. He also seems to be a good person from how his soul looks. Now I see why you chose him.}

{There is more to him than just that, but those are the main reasons.}

{I see... Fine, then. I'll accept your request, but if Tess doesn't get back within 5 days, our deal is off.} I declared.

{Thank you. Until next time, Azz.} It responded, after which, it immediately dispersed into Fate particles.

{Getting a bit too familiar, eh?} I said, ending the conversation.

*Flashback ends*

Today is the deadline when Fate's Chosen is supposed to escort Tess home.

Using my [EoAD], I could see Tess and Fate's Chosen getting close to the Teleportation Gate leading to the entrance of the Capital.

'They seem to have gotten close during these past few days.' I thought to myself as I was looking outside the window, waiting for a knight to bring news of someone using the Teleportation Gate.

A/N: And that marks the end of the chapter!

Maybe I'll post the next chapter tomorrow, since I already have it planned out and just need to start writing it.

Anyway, Have a nice day! Ciao!
