Y/n and Neteyam had been making their way back to y/n hut. The pair headed inside, making sure to close the hut behind them.

Y/n walked over to his bed and landed face-first onto it.

Y/n: oh, how I miss you, my comfy bed.

After a moment, y/n stood up and walked to a wall, dropping his backpack and pouch to the ground while also taking some of his other stuff off.

While that was happening, Neteyam turned his back to him, not trying to watch, but he couldn't help but take a few glimpses over at him. (doing some fan service for our female readers)

The only thing y/n still had on was his loincloth; everything else was on the ground next to each other.

Y/n walked back over to his bed and got onto it.

Y/n: so, how are things with you and Jake?

Neteyam: I...I haven't talked much with him since the fight at the festival

Y/n: Hey, I'm not judging you. It's alright if you don't want to talk just yet. So will you want to stay here longer or head back with them?

Neteyam: I haven't thought much about it.

Y/n: well, hey, you are welcome to stay here for as long as needed

Neteyam: thanks

Y/n: Always come on and join me in bed.

Neteyam: huh?

Neteyam had a surprised look on his face. He looked over at him with a blush.

Neteyam: W-what do you mean by that?!

Y/n looked at him, confused.

Y/N: Well, are you going to just stand there, or are you going to sit down on my bed and tell me what happened while I was gone?

Neteyam: oh, that's what you mean.

Neteyam seemed disappointed when he realized what he meant. It seemed that he was expecting something else.

He let out a sigh, walked over to his bed, lay down on it, looked at the roof, and used his arms to support his head.

Y/n went from a sitting position to lying down on his bed.

Neteyam: ok, so this started a few days ago.

*a few days ago*

Neteyam was waiting against the wall, looking out at the sea. He was waiting for Loak and Kiri.

After a moment, the two came walking out of the hut.

Neteyam: Bro, what took you so long?

Lo'ak: sorry, I just had to make sure I'm ready for this.

Kiri: ready for what, though? You still haven't told us why you wanted us to go somewhere with you.

Lo'ak: don't worry, I'll explain it on the way there.

The three started to leave the place, but not before someone called out to the group of three.

???: wait for me.

Neteyam looked back at the hut and noticed who the voice came from.

Lo'ak: you can come with us tuk.

Tuk: why not, huh? Are you doing something wrong again?

Lo'ak: what? No, I just don't want you there.

Tuk: Well, I want to go. You guys have not been spending time with me at all since we came here. The only person who did was y/n, and now he is getting stuff from the giant mangrove trees.

That was the story that he and Kiri agreed to tell each other. Y/n had decided to go into the forest on the island to find stuff so he wouldn't be around for a bit.

Neteyam: You know, lo'ak, she's not wrong. We haven't spent much time with our little sister. Come on, bro, let's take her with us. Just look at that face.

Neteyam had walked over behind Tuk, grabbed her by my mouth, and pulled a bit, making her face look funny.

Neteyam: doesn't that face just say she wants to spend time with her family?

Tuk: yeeh le'ok de you het me

Because Neteyam was grabbing her face, it made her talk funny.

Kiri chuckled a bit before walking over. She got on her knees in front of the tuk and made a hand gesture, almost offering.

Kiri: yeah, lo'ak, why are you being so mean to your sister?

Lo'ak: agh, fine, she can come as well.

Tuk looks at the both of them.

Tuk: thanks kiri and Neteyam

Kiri: don't worry about it, tuk.

Neteyam: Yeah, and I'm sorry we haven't been spending much time together like we used to.

Tuk: I just don't want you guys to leave me alone.

Neteyam patted her head.

Neteyam: Hey, come on, tuk, you are our sister, and we won't leave you behind.

Kiri: yeah, and who would be there to annoy me

Lo'ak: you guys coming?

Neteyam: be right there. Now then, how about we go and see what lo'ak wanted to talk about

Tuk: yay!

Tuk went running ahead to join with lo'ak. Neteyam looked over at Kiri, who was looking at the sea.

Neteyam: you miss him, don't you?

Kiri looked at Neteyam, who had a smirk on his face.

Kiri: It's just that this is the first time he's gone without anyone with him.... What if he leaves me?

Neteyam placed his hand on her shoulder and looked at the sea.

Neteyam: Come on, Kiri. You should know he would never leave you like that, and also, you both are mates; you are the only one for him.

She looked at him like he said something funny. She wanted to let out a small laugh, but she knew better.

Neteyam: come on, we can talk about it while we catch up.

She looked at him before nodding, and the two walked in the same direction as lo'ak and tuk.

Kiri: you know I'm not the only one who should know what y/n is like.

She looked at him.

Neteyam: yeah, you're right... I think tuk is developing a slight crush on Y/n.

Kiri: tuk, hmm, yeah, right.

She kept staring at him like she was waiting for him to reveal something.

Neteyam: I mean it. Tuk might have a slight crush on him. Have you seen how she is with him?

Kiri: I don't think I have, but have you seen her showing anything like that?

Neteyam: Well, when y/n rubs or pets her head, she always blushes, and when he makes small, nice gestures at her, she seems to blush as well.

Kiri: I guess I haven't noticed those signs.

Neteyam: Haha, in a few years, when she reaches the age of adulthood, she might go after him and take him from you.

Kiri seemed to take a moment to think about what he was saying, almost as if she were imagining what that would be like.

Kiri: I don't think she will take him from me.

Neteyam: Well, all I'm saying is that once she reaches adulthood, she will be in heat like you were.

Kiri looked away, her face slightly red from the embarrassment of thinking of herself while she was in heat.

She couldn't think straight, and when she met y/n, something changed in her, and she knew he was the one for her.

Then, when they first embraced, her heat finally disappeared, but she still knew he was the one, and he would always be the one for her.

Kiri: as interesting as talking about tuk, I wasn't talking about her; I'm talking abo-

Lo'ak: Bro, what's taking you two so long? Let's go before she gets here.

Tuk: yeah, you guys are so slow. Hurry it up!

Neteyam: right behind you. Come on, Kiri better not keep them waiting.

Neteyam went jogging after them, leaving Kiri to be herself for a moment. She took one last glance at the sea, taking a moment to reach her hand out at it.

Before turning forward, and went after the others.

*present*

There was knocking on the door to y/n hut. Y/n looked at the door, confused, before getting up and walking over.

Neteyam: were you expecting someone to come by?

Y/n: No, I don't think so, or at least I don't remember.

Y/n started reaching his hand out to the door, hoping that it was not Neytiri who wanted to fuck all of a sudden.

Y/n opened the entrance to his hut and looked at the person standing before him.

Y/n: oh, norm ah, that right, you were coming over tonight.

Norm: yeah, is this a bad time?

Y/n: uh, no, just come in. How did you find my hut?

Norm: I asked Jake where you lived after checking Kiri over once more before heading over here.

Y/n: so, how is she?

Norm: still the same; she just needs rest for now.

Y/n closed the entrance as norm place the stuff on the ground.

Norm: hey there, Neteyam.

Neteyam: hey.

Y/n: Could you keep telling me what happened while I work on this?

Neteyam: uh yeah, that's fine.

Y/n: ok, nice, let's get to work norm.

They started working on the device while Neteyam tried to remember where he left off.

*back in the past*

After a few minutes of trying to catch up with the other, Kiri finally reached the group.

Neteyam: So, bro, why did you want us to come all the way here?

Lo'ak: Okay, you know how I've been trying to get myself a mate, right?

Neteyam: yeah, I remember when you failed that once a few weeks back.

Lo'ak: Well, I think I might try asking Tsireya.

Neteyam: woah, bro, you sure about that.

Lo'ak: Yeah, I'm sure when she was helping me learn the way of their clan, she would look at me in a certain way.

Kiri: I don't think it's much of a good idea.

Lo'ak: why?

Even Neteyam was interested in why she thinks it is a bad idea.

Kiri looked like she wanted to say something but chose not to.

Kiri: I don't think it will go out well for you that it.

Neteyam: well, bro, you should. After all, the worst thing she could say was no.

Lo'ak: thanks, bro.

Tuk came running over, almost looking like she saw something that frightened her.

Tuk: she is coming.

Kiri: who?

Lo'ak: Tsireya, I asked her to meet me here.

Neteyam: Bro, what the fuck.

The three looked at Neteyam, surprised after hearing him use the f-word.

Neteyam: Lo'ak, why would you have us come with you when you're also meeting someone with whom you plan to talk about being mates?

Lo'ak: so that I could have some support.

Kiri and Neteyam just couldn't believe that answer while tuk.... was just being tuk.

Neteyam: Come on, we better hide. We want to avoid getting seen with you.

Neteyam grabbed tuk and started to walk over to some trees to hide behind, with Kiri following them.

It took them a moment to settle into their spots before hearing footsteps approaching.

Neteyam peaked around the tree behind which he and Tuk were.

He saw Tsireya standing a few inches from lo'ak. He was looking like a sweaty prolemuris.

Tsireya: Hey, lo'ak. Did you want to talk to me about something?

She moved her head slightly into a question kind of look.

Lo'ak: h-hey Tsireya, yes, there was something I wanted to talk to you about.

Neteyam wanted to smack the back of loak head for stuttering like that in front of her.

Lo'ak: I want to ask if you have a mate.

Tsireya: Well, no, I don't have a mate.

Lo'ak: Okay, good. Well, it's not good in a wrong way, but it's more like it's good.

Neteyam turned to look at Kiri, hiding behind a different tree. She just shrugged her shoulders.

Lo'ak: okay, I want to ask you if you would be my mate, Tsireya

She brought her hand up to her mouth in a surprise manner.

Tsireya: I'm flattered, lo'ak, really I am.

Lo'ak looked like a kid who just heard the best thing in his life.

Tsireya: However, I'm sorry. I think my heart has fallen for another person, and you are also like another brother to me.

Neteyam grabbed at his chest, and he was sure many others felt the pain his brother was feeling.

Lo'ak looked like he just had his world cave in on him.

Lo'ak: O-oh, I see. Well, thanks for letting me know

Tsireya: I hope we can still be friends if that is alright with you.

Lo'ak was looking down at the ground for a moment before sighing.

Lo'ak: If you're okay with being friends, then that's fine with me.

Tsireya bowed to him before looking back up at him.

Tsireya: Thanks. I still hope we can be great friends. But I need to head out and prepare something for my mother.

Lo'ak: eh, sure thing, you go ahead.

She turned around and started walking away. After a few moments, the others walked out from behind trees.

Neteyam walked over to him and wrapped his arm around lo'ak neck.

Neteyam: aw, it's alright, my baby bro. There are plenty of other people you can ask out.

Kiri walked over next to them while sticking her tongue out at him, mocking him.

(image here)

Lo'ak: ugh, yeah, whatever.

Neteyam let go of lo'ak and placed his hands on his hips.

Neteyam: hmm, what should we do now?

Tuk: OOOOOOO ME PICK ME.

Kiri: Calm down, tuk. We don't have anything better to be doing.

Neteyam: Yeah, so what do you want to do?

Tuk: Let's skip some rocks.

Neteyam: I'm down.

He looked at the other two. Kiri simply nodded while lo'ak had other plans.

Lo'ak: I'm going to head out. You guys have fun.

Tuk: aw, okay.

*back to present *

Neteyam: That's about what happened.

Y/n: woah, well, good job on lo'ak for trying to ask her at least.

Norm: yeah, good for him.

Y/n: So what happened after?

Neteyam: nothing much. We just talked about what gift we are doing for the eywa celebration.

Y/n: oh, what did you get me?

Neteyam: That is a secret, but Kiri did say something about how she needs to talk to her mother to help her with hers.

Y/N: Oh well, I'm looking forward to it. But I think we are done right, norm?

Norm: Yeah, it should work with your Ilu.

Y/n: well, I think I'm going to head to bed. I'm tired as fuck.

Norm: alright, well, I will let myself out, then see you both later.

They both waved as he left y/n got up and fell face-first into his bed, falling asleep.

Word count:

Originally, this was going to be made later, but because a power outage knocked out our Wi-Fi, I couldn't work on my other story, so I started making this chapter after realizing that it would be kind of difficult to walk around this event.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this side story.

Ps. The polls will be open until the very last chapter before the story's climax.

Big thanks to my Patreon supporters
